What: Scouting Eggman's new digs
Where: Remember that Volcano that no one talks about? We're back there again.
When: The moon hangs low in the sky. It's daytime.
Warnings: Lava, dangerous robots, smartass commentary

"Welp, at least the lava's hardened since last time."

Sonic mused that to himself, as he kicked a fragment of pahoehoe off the cliff and looked up to the rim of the crater.

"I guess ol' Eggolodon couldn't resist the chance to build a base in a volcano."

"I'm fine. We're fine. We're in an air vent." Knuckles replied after tapping the stupid communicator a bunch of times to try and be sure it was working.

Blaze was definitely glad she wasn't on their team right about now. "We've just made it inside the main entrance. Stay on alert, report if you run into any trouble," she said, tapping her earpiece to address the others.

"We've hit a bit of resistance in here, but nothing we can't handle ourselves. How are you bunch faring? ' 'as the loud one triggad any alahms yet?'" Rouge asked, mimicking Marine's accent.

"OI!!!" Marine shouted while shaking her fist at nothing, causing an echo throughout the halls. "I don't sound anything like that!! Watch it, sheila! We're 'andling ourselves just fine!"

"Can you believe this whacka?" Marine gestured to her headset, indicating she was talking about Rouge. Unfortunately, her outburst set a couple of patrol bots in their direction to investigate the disturbance..

"Gachkt!" Knuckles said, tapping his earpiece again several more times. "Why is the little Raccoon so loud!? It hurts my ears!" he said. Apparently security bots weren't the only ones mortified by the tiny girl's loudness. "You don't need to yell!! The ear piece is right there on your head, same place as your mouth!"

He was... yelling too by now.

Sonic winced as well, but straightened once he noticed the robots approaching. Aw geeze, this whole stealth thing was HARD...

"--Marine! Blaze! Get moving!"

With that, he takes off towards the opposite side, making a bunch of clanks and crashes and generally a hell of a noise, when he bounces off the mounds of storage crates and tanks. Hopefully that hell-of-a-noise can keep the robots away from the girls...

Wave winced from the sound in her ear. "Agh! What the heck are you all doing over there?!"

Blaze scooped up her child Marine and carried her off. "Be careful, Sonic!" she called back, trying to get them to safety, or at least a quiet spot they could regroup.

Unfortunately, the time had come for GIANT ENEMY CRABS to show up and start making a mess of things! And they weren't content with just attacking Sonic, but were now pursuing Blaze and Marine! Quickly, hit their weak points for massive damage!

Rouge, too, was wincing from what she figured was permanent hearing damage.

"Sounds like they have their hands full. Maybe we should get a-movin'. Either she's woken every bot in a three-mile radius, or they've all swarmed to the other team, leaving us an opening to get where we're going without hindrance. Birdie! Crawl faster!" She grinned. Apparently dissing the bird was a source of endless amusement.
