Who: Anyone
What: Visitin'
Where: Courtyard/Fountain
When: June 25th
Warnings: None
After a lengthy time of prodding, wink wink, hint hints and flat out demands from his trainer, he'd finally done it and simply given in to what his friend assured them was the 'BEST PLACE, I RECKON' that she'd managed to go to in the longest of times. He was skeptical of course, because there was just something so wonderful, comfortable and safe about a lack of change when it came to important life decisions. But..his trainer definitely wasn't getting any younger, and all the bright, glitzy weekends at contests were getting fewer and further apart. It was cool. Opportunity was supposed to make you feel anxious enough that you wanted to vomit, right? Right.
The better part of his morning had been spent both admiring his fresh, crisp uniform and walking--around the dormitory and court yard. An inordinate amount of time was spent simply traversing the parking lot before looping back near the library and gracelessly dropping himself onto a bench near the fountain. There was still a lot of daylight left to burn and pavement to pound, but he was going to be a little lazy just this once. Besides, there was no telling where he'd see his friend and when she'd show up, so he would make the best of getting a feel for the community.

He kept up his pace right next to the newbie, and quickly introduced himself. "So, you look lost. You new here?" he asked with a big smile.

The second question caused Rio to purse his lips into a line before answering, though he didn't seem bothered by it, otherwise. "I'm from Kanto. Way out in the boonies, where your next door neighbor is more'n a mile out."

"Hey, I'm not one to talk," Jolt pointed out. "I live in Viridian City, but the boss is from Pallet Town, which is about as far out as you can get! I'm Jolt, by the way."

That's why Riwane was carrying around a small basket of pokepuffs, wrapped up nicely with a bow and looking to see if she could spot him. Knowing him he was walking around trying to figure things out and wether this was a good idea or not.
Spotting him nearby she began to run over to him, tail swaying wildly as she waved. "Riooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

With a little huff he pushed himself to his feet and turned towards the stadium, eager to see just how huge that thing really was, but hearing his name called (yelled) caused him to pause in step and turn around.
...Knowing Riwane, she was either going to bowl him over or crush him in a hug; both welcome and appreciated in a nostalgic sort of way. Instead of building a personal space perimeter or assuming the fetal position while protecting his head and eyes, he simply awaited his fate with a good-natured smile and an excited wave.

"So glad yer here! How was the trip?" she asked excitedly as she handed the care package over.
"Got ya sum real nice pokepuffs and sum school survival items!" she smiled. It was your 'essentials', you know, a few games, some clothes, snacks, few drinks, comics and the like.

Rio sniffed in faux disappointment. "Even if it looks like you just can't stop growin'."
no subject
"Heh, yeah, I reckon I've done a lotta growin' since comin' here. It's been great, an' I'm a good deal stronger too!" she added proudly.

A giant wall of fuzz is walking your way.
Also, that fuzz is attached to an Arcanine.
He's headed right for you.

So he was going to stay there and be really, really still, like a statue. Like he was not there. And this was not the worst thing.
Statues don't panic.
no subject
He's here. For you. He's here for you.
You're new. Very new. Jock sees how new you are. New things are wonderful.
The giant dog. Is so close. That you can feel the heat radiating off of his body. And he is. Smelling. Your hair.
Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.
no subject
Rio smiled meekly as the Arcanine sniffed his hair. Surprisingly, he took little solace in the fact that if he went, at least he'd bite it smelling fantastic.
no subject
Jock had better taste you to make certain.
You are now being licked by a giant dog tongue.
It's over. This is it. This is the end.

He was happy too, of course. And he had promised Grams that while Rio was at the Academy, Jon would be there to make sure he was settling in and taken care of. Not to mention introduced to the Final Destination Contest Hall and its many and sundry boutiques and accessory vendors.
"Oi." he said, approaching the bench where Rio had taken up residence. "Welcome to the Academy, lad. It's good to see you made it in one piece."

"You caught me when I was restin' for a spell. This place is loads bigger'n I thought and I haven't even made it halfway 'round the campus."
no subject
He'd come from the Gym and had his scuffed up leather sports bag with him. He sat down on the bench, placed the bag between his feet and pulled out two bottles of water. They were from the vending machines near the gym so still pretty cold, no less. "Here. Enjoy this. And aye, it's a large campus. You'll learn your way about soon enough, and you've only to call me if you ever find yourself somewhere unfamiliar."
no subject
"I guarantee you're right about that, as terrible as I am 'bout keepin' to one spot. Don't think I want to go around botherin' you with somethin' as muffin-headed as gettin' lost, though. I'll sort myself out. Usually do, anyways."
no subject
He took a long drink from his water bottle. Perfect weather for cold water.
"In other news, you've a lot to look forward to in regard to the city, too. There's a contest hall there I'm sure you're dying to see."

"Hey. You."

His eyes darted to the left as if he were uncertain, before addressing the accusatory finger. "It's kinda rude to point at folk you ain't properly met, you know."
no subject
"Yeah, we may not have met, but I'm pretty sure I know who you are. New student, right?"
no subject
"But yeah, I'm new," he said, flashing a wide smile. "M'name's Rio."
