PARTY PARTY PARTY
Who: Vianca and Yarne
What: Existing.
Where: In a space.
When: At a time.
Warnings: There is no escape.
So there was that one time that Vianca was in the library. (Let's be real that's all the time but this time is about a specific time.)
On this day, like many other days, she was shelving books.
How thrilling.
How exciting.
What a good log this will be.

Well, rabbitman. Whatever.
He didn't come to the library too often. All those big, heavy shelves looked like a simple nudge could send them toppling down, right on top of him.
Also, for some reason, there was always a vague smell of something poisonous in there, which made him even more nervous.
Not today, though! Today something in there smells good, as Yarne wanders in, skulking and sniffing about, until he just comes right up behind the little girl that like, barely comes up to his chest, leaning down to sniff at her.
"You smell like carrots."
no subject
And up.
And up and up and up upon a very tall bunman. Before she could ask him if he needed help, he spoke.
"... What?"
no subject
He leans down more, sniffing at the top of her head. Which is, kind of weird, but also probably kind of threatening for someone who, in her normal shape and out in the wild, is in very real danger of being eaten alive. A hungry rabbit would probably be a Pikmin's worst nightmare.
"I don't know why, but you REALLY smell like them. Do you like, have some with you or something?"
no subject
With the exception of a certain Arbok, generally whenever someone loomed over her it meant that she was about to become injured or generally incapacitated in some way. Vianca skittered backwards a few steps as the rabbitman sniffed her, one hand moving slowly to hover over the button that Zero had given her. For emergencies.
"No. Don't eat me."
no subject
Yarne looks very, very confused by that sudden request. Usually, he's the one that has to ask people that!
He's normally so meek and cowardly, he's never really scared anyone before. It takes him a bit to even realize that she looks afraid of him. He's not even sure HOW he could have scared her.
"Did I, like. Freak you out or something? Do you have a carrot-phobia? But why do you smell so much like them, then?"
no subject
"...We... pikmin were named for their resemblance to pik pik carrots. I imagine we might smell like them as well."
She stared at him.
"Don't eat me. I might still be poisonous."
no subject
"...You don't look anything like a carrot. I'm pretty sure whoever named you has never even SEEN a carrot, Pikmin."
Apparently, he thinks that's her name. He's quite clearly confused by what she said.
"Also I'm not going to eat you! Taguel don't eat people. ...Probably? I dunno, I think those would just be rumors... I don't think my people would do something that macabre, but... I dunno, these sharp teeth can't be just for veggies, either."
Yarne probably should've stopped talking earlier than he did.
no subject
"I just look like a person right now," she clarified for him.
no subject
"So you just... turn into a... carrot. Huh." He scratches his head a bit. "Jeez, and I thought turning into a bunny was kind of lame."
no subject
She kept her hand close to the security button just in case.
"Not a carrot," the librarian corrected, "a pikmin."
no subject
This still didn't make that much sense. He'd heard there were other animal tribes in far off lands before- his father's mentioned crow-like ones when he was still young. But plants??? That just sounds silly. Yarne's having trouble imagining anything other than a big carrot with arms and legs.
"Well anyway, I promise I'm not going to eat you, alright? I worry about that happening too much myself to want to make anyone else worry about it!"
no subject
He sounded earnest enough though. Vianca continued to stare at him in that intense way that she eyed everyone, considering.
"... I will believe you. You are a... Taguel? Is that what you said?"
no subject
By now, Yarne's stopped leaning down to sniff at her. Which is good, since it was pretty awkward! Although, now he's standing up straight, which means with their very different heights, it's also a little awkward with her having to pretty much look straight up at him. So he decides to pull out a chair from a nearby table, to continue talking to her. He wants to make sure that he end this conversation on good terms, after all, so he might as well get comfy. Even if she says she believes him, she still seems kinda nervous... If she spreads around that he might eat people or something, he could get an angry mob after him to kill him!
"My name's Yarne, by the way. What's yours? Since it apparently isn't 'Pikmin.'"
