FREE FOR ALL DRAW LOG
Who: Anyone and everyone
What: Anything and everything
When: Let's just put it for all of September, why don't we.
Warnings: Image heavy, probably.
What is this? Simple! It'sa wild and crazy experiment oh god oh man an open free-for-all log much like the Dorm Logs, but with pictures instead of text! Or a healthy mix of pictures and text, but the focus here is on drawing. It doesn't have to be fancy or detailed - you could draw stick figures labeled with names and it still counts - but the point is to just let loose and have fun with visual media today.
Of course, this comes with some RULES. To ease loading times on slower computers, we'll pull a tegaki and have a standard image size of 500x200. Unlike tegaki, we can be flexible and have you toy around with the canvas if you really want, but try to keep it somewhere in that general area. Go ahead and put 2-3 in a single comment, then go nuts whenever the threads collapse, why not. Throw a LINK to very large images! Likewise, LINK if your images are suggestive enough to get people the stinkeye in a public place.
These threads can be about literally anything, but if you need some ideas to start:
That Weird Island is still high above the school, swarming with monsters! Someone should probably check that out. How do you get there? Maybe you find a teleporter, or a ? Block with a vine that sprouts out of it, or get kidnapped by a swarm of butterflies. Forget about the little details.
There have been posters promoting a Bug Catching Competition happening on the 15th. A little late in the year, but there are still plenty of bugs around, and a certain visitor hanging by the fountain on that day will be more than happy to appraise your catches. Just don't piss off a swarm of local beedrill or something crazy like that.
And hey, since it is so late in the year, isn't that a perfect time for bonfires? Who the heck keeps setting those up in the chilly evenings on the quad? Is this even allowed... Well, whatever, might as well roast some yams or marshmallows while they're there.

I've put aside all other work for the last eleven months to dedicate myself to the betterment of this school. So you had better not have come here expecting an easy reformation!
[As much as possible, he needs to play up how hard and frustrating this school is, how very hard it is, so the focus doesn't come to how little progress he's made over all the time he's been here. He doesn't want to hear it from anyone, of course, but least of all an Asahi.]

Nice try, but I saw you just a little over a month ago, remember?
[And as far as Hayato knew, nobody ever sent the kid so far away from home. At least not for such an extended period of time...]
no subject
I haven't seen anyone from home since I arrived here.
[IT'S BEEN LONELY]

He gives Hajime a much more scrutinizing look than before. No, even picturing him with the hat isn't right. He looks a little too... young? Oh god, he isn't pretending to be a high school student.]
You messed with time travel, didn't you.
[
buttmad that he isn't immortalized in heiroglyphs]no subject
No, but... was it truly out of nowhere? With the comments Hayato had made before, which had seemed so absurd and nonsensical in the moment...]
You... you've got to be kidding.
no subject
[Ugh, this... probably isn't good. How far from the past is this kid, anyway? Does his being here mess up some kind of space-time continuum? Hayato's no scientist but he is positive that just having this conversation has already created several weird alternate realities. What should he say to make sure whatever new future Hajime has isn't awful?]
Nearly seven years ago, a meteor did not collide with the earth. Tell me you know what I'm talking about.
[He must... He seems familiar with the Asahi Squad, even if it's with hostility. SO IT MUST HAVE HAPPENED.]
no subject
That was a few months before I was transferred to the Academy... a little over a year ago.
[From what he understood, varying time periods and even realities weren't unheard of here, but this did open up a staggering array of questions. It was hard to know where to start, and how much would affect the future... or if that was already moot.]
Well. That illustrates my point, to a degree.
no subject
Well, it certainly explains your attitude. When I left, our squads were on much better terms.
[Sort of? Comparatively. Nothing but friendly rivalries now, ha... ha.]
no subject
Oh, is that so? It's good to hear you've shaped up in the meantime.
no subject
[Sure is saying something about your younger self, isn't it, Hayato.]
Let's just cut to the chase, shall we? You've been here a while, so do us both a favour and fill me in.

Right. This city exists as a nexus between multiple dimensions. A large percentage of students and faculty alike arrive without wanting to, and are unable to leave. The school provides them with a place to stay and steady employment.
However, the instability in the meeting of worlds causes bizarre effects in the atmosphere. It can affect the environment, but just as often causes completely irresistible effects within the populous. They can range from irritating and harmless to horrifying and deadly.
A recent rending of the rift between realities caused a monster infestation on the campus. The island floating above the school houses hundreds of them, at least.
Due to the inplacable nature of many events, many residents of the school have lapsed into complacency. The headmasters are not interested in aiding or shifting methods to try and improve the situation.
[How very restrained, businesslike, and not at all frustrated he sounds. This all seems an awful lot like business as usual, right? Maybe a little more concentrated than back home, but alllllll standard.]
no subject
Anyway, that interdimensional thing explains this time paradox business, at least.]
Hmmh. It's a lot harder to inspire those who have already given up on wanting change.
[He tugs loosely at his glove, making a slow fist, finger by finger.]
But not impossible. There just may be a chance, now that I'm here.
no subject
[He's hoped so long for backup, for this pairing to result can only bring disappointment. He wanted his friends, his comrades, his team, not... this.
Beggars can't be choosers, but they can think of better days.]
...I do hope you can.
no subject
[That's about as much of a "looking forward to working with you" as you're going to get, Hajime.]
So I hope you can keep up.
no subject
[Almost along the lines of "I'm counting on you." He ducks into the most sardonic of bows.]
Don't let me down.
