Ema is especially bubbly with excitement today, with everything that's happening. Graduation, prom, and very scientific movie watching!

The movie is Back to the Future. You really can't get more scientific than that (well, except maybe Jurassic Park).

She's not one hundred percent if she can really call all this a date, but they're watching a movie alone, and then going to prom together, so that feels date-ish. It adds to the excitement - she's never really dated before, as her heart belonged to Mister Edgeworth. But, well, Chihiro is nice, and cute, and really into science, so it's the next best thing.

When he arrives, she's bouncing on her heels.

"Hi! Ready to watch the movie?"

Back to the Future was a classic, it was one of those kind of films that you really don't get tired watching because it keeps on being charming for you, at least that was Chihiro's personal opinion of the film. It was also the type of film he'd be happy to watch with good friends on any occasion.

Which basically goes to say he didn't want to quite call their meeting as an actual date rather than two friends hanging out. Oh no, Ema was well, she was cute and smart but he didn't want to jump right on that track and get the wrong idea. That kind of deal would quickly have a friend driving away instead of becoming closer, that was what he was sure of.

He managed to keep himself from making nervous steps but as he was closer to his destination, his jitters were almost out of his control. In fact, Chihiro nodded to Ema's question before rigidly taking a seat.

Friends hanging out while watching Back to the Future, nothing to get jitters. The thing was, they were alone in the room.

Oh gee, he looked nervous. Should she be nervous?

Sitting down next to him, she snuggles into the couch, careful not to brush up against him.

"I love this movie," she says, a bit concerned that he didn't really answer but not asking about it. "Don't you?"

He flinched without meaning to, there was at least some hope to turn the tables and avoid from giving any more bad impressions to Ema.

"Of course," he squeaked. "It's one of my favorite science fiction movies with 2001: A Space Odyssey and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Action films were his favorite too as well as Sean Connery's tenure as James Bond, but he refrain from talking any further in fear of going in tangents.

"Hitchhiker's Guide is a funny movie," she agrees, "but I've never seen the other one."

Unlike Chihiro, though, she does go off on a tangent.

"My favorite movie is the Steel Samurai movie though. You really need to watch it sometime. It's a great show!"

She is going to start the movie they're actually watching, though.

He nodded along, he likes it when people talk about themselves far more than him rambling.

"I've never heard of Steel Samurai before actually," it kind of made him feel embarrassed for not knowing as his eyes flicker between watching the Doc's narration in the opening and looking at Ema in the eye.

"Yeah, not many people here have. I don't know why. It and its spin-offs are some of the most popular shows ever where I'm from!"

The people of Smash Academy are so out of the loop. But it's not that important, especially when they're watching something else.

"People here like all kinds of different things, but that's a good thing."

He hummed in response, thinking. "It could be possible because it never cracked into here." Sounds like those shows people of all ages would enjoy, and possibly far better to have exposed the citizen of Final Destination City than... certain things. He wasn't going to indulge that thought further as he shook his head as if it could shake the thoughts away faster.

"I'm sorry that I started talking to myself," he turned back to face Ema, this time he wasn't going to move his eyes away from her despite the urge to shift them. "Sometimes, things can get aired or published here, but not always. I don't know if it's related... but I think it's similar how sometimes people can appear out of a random time and place."

She nods. "I've heard about that. Sometimes people get caught in time anomalies, or can't leave, right?"

She looks a little sad at that. "That sounds terrible. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't leave..."

She would never see Lana again. Never get to practice science in Los Angeles. Never get the chance to work with Mr. Edgeworth. What a terrible life that would be!

"It'd be awful," he nodded in agreement, he did miss his own parents. That is, if there status were alive, knowing that the otherwise wouldn't be much of a stretch.

"But..." Chihiro tried to think up the right way to say it before he decided with; "it's not so bad here. Weirdness aside... it can be, um, pretty fun around." You know, minus surviving whenever weird creatures trying to kill you pop up or of the sort.

She smiles. "I've had fun here! And met lots of cool people."

She looks at him out of the corner of her eye a little. Like you, Chihiro, she means you.

"It's not such a bad school. Maybe not as good as Capcom High, but still good."

He looked away shyly, Ema couldn't have possibly meant him. Chihiro wasn't really what you call someone 'cool', at least that's what he personally thought of himself and he was sure it was rather a correct assumption.

"It, um, really is," practically anything is better than Hope's Peak at this point. "What's it like? Um, at Capcom, I mean...."

[atmyage]

"Um, different than this." She puts a hand to her chin. "The headmasters weren't floating hands... but sometimes some of the other students could get just as rowdy! Other than that I guess it was pretty normal..."

As normal as a school full of Capcoms can be (which is not much).

"I'm glad I came here, though. It's fun experiencing new places."

"I'm glad as well, it's... really nice to get to know you..." Chihiro trailed off. No, that sounded way too conspicuous. But, it was too late to take his words back, he couldn't do anything but stay quiet and let sound of the film fill in the room instead.

To say he was a little bad at this would be an understatement.

She's not much better. The film goes on a bit, and Ema relaxes.

Her hand bumps into Chihiro's. She blushes but doesn't move it. Will he take the hint?

Chihiro was internally torn over the two instincts that came quickly to mind; putting his hand over hers or draw his hand away. Eventually, he did both, exactly in that order.

Carefully, he sets his hand on top of her but pull it away much quicker. But that... felt wrong too, but wasn't it rude to do that just leave his hand there as well? Instead of drawing back completely, it was just above Ema's hand. He turns to her with hesitant eyes, waiting for an okay.

Ema looks back at him, noticing his hesitation. She's still blushing, but she smiles, bringing her hand up to knock into his a little again.

That's all the permission he's getting. It's all on him now.
