Machines were where the world made sense. With the chaos and rage around him, Cyrus had always found peace in working with machines. They had their purpose, did what they were meant to, and if they were faulty, they could be broken down and rebuilt.

They would be the perfect life form, if they were alive.

Certainly R.O.B. was alive. That itself was a marvel, something to be learned from. Something with the potential to revolutionize everything.

And yet, automatons were all Cyrus needed at the moment. The Ethics teacher was hard at work constructing...something. A few somethings. Lying around the way were a handful of what seemed to be the start of metal mannequins.

Go bother him, won't you?

She will!

Vivian fully believed in her 99% human body and the humanity she was loyal to, but machines still held a place in her heart and she always carried an interest and respect if she met others.

So when Vivian was exploring and checking in on the area, trying to do the same job but without a leader now, her curiosity was immediately piqued by the unique shapes lying around. She entered the lab.

"Hello?"

At first, he seemed not to notice her, as he finished sodering a wire in place. The bulk of the electronic work would be done later, but a simple movement mechanism could be installed here. "...there is peace in this. The simplicity of it all...machines face the broken world with firmness and resolve."

Vivian continued inward, getting closer to Cyrus when he didn't answer. There was a brief pause as she doubted whether or not it was okay to be here, but curiosity came out on top and she tugged at the back of his shirt.

"What are you doing?"

He sat up at the touch, arching his head but not looking at her. "I am constructing an artificial being. Currently my focus is the robotic body."

A pause. "The correct way of getting someone's attention while they are wielding dangerous tools is soft pressure on the shoulder. Bear that in mind to avoid potential accidents."
