Another Horrible Intro: No, officer, I wasn't trying to sneak in, honest!
Who: Makoto Naegi, anyone who happens to be passing by
What: Delivery
Where: Somewhere outside on campus grounds
When: Morning
Warnings: Probable harm to boxes
Good morning, Smash Academy! Today, anyone taking a walk outside may see a strange box sealed with pink masking tape just sitting there. Not that it stays still for long! People can observe how every now and then, it starts...moving. Not by much and never far in one direction, but yes, the box definitely moves about. (Frankly, it looks a bit disturbing.)
If anyone's still around after that, they'd hear some knocking sounds and a voice saying "Um...is anyone there?"
Looks like someone's not having a great start to a day.

Pulse had a history with boxes. For instance, whenever a strange box showed up out of nowhere, in his experience, it was most likely a substantiated CG object, installed in its spot in order to create an obstruction. This particular box looked the part, all the way down to the weird logo on the side. However, he had no knowledge of any such cyberterrorist organization that used a black and white bear as a mascot. Even so, this still bore investigating.
He approached the object carefully and quietly, senses tuned for any electromagnetic radiation or static energy present around it. Finding none, he reached forward and gently prodded one side of the box with a finger. He was about to arrive at the conclusion that it was nothing more than a simple cardboard box and that he had gotten himself all worked up over nothing, when the box moved.
He was in battle stance in a nanosecond, fully prepared to defend himself if by chance the box happened to attempt an attack. Hearing what sounded like a normal human voice coming from inside, however, caused him to relax his guard a little.]
...Um, yes, there is someone here.

Within the box, Naegi feels torn between feeling relief and wariness. On one hand, someone speaking to him means that no one shipped him off to the middle of nowhere. Always a good sign, especially after spending fifty days trapped in a school making strange little bears.
On the other hand, nothing about the voice brings to mind any clues regarding the stranger's identity. For all he knew, they could be the one behind his current predicament. Still, he's always been (foolishly) optimistic. And his optimism leads him to decide that he might as well try to hold a normal conversation with whoever spoke to him! ...As normal as talking from a box can be, of course. ]
That's a relief! For a moment, I thought I woke up in the middle of nowhere...though I guess this could still be the middle of nowhere.
[ After all, he can't even see where he is, much less pinpoint his exact location at the moment... ]

S-Sir... or madam... or whatever... Are you inside this box against your will?
no subject
[ Wait, no, that wasn't the part he should be responding to! Let's try that again. ]
I mean, yeah, I'm not in here out of my free will. I woke up in this box a short while back, but I don't know why!
[ While Naegi does try to stay as calm as he can despite the mounting confusion, he has trouble keeping the nervousness out of his voice. Which is easier said than done for him, considering his lack of skill at hiding things. Something about the cramped and dark environment of the box freaks him out, even if he can't quite put his finger on the why. He could say the same of a lot of things right now though. What's the deal with all the weird luck today anyway!? ]
gonna cap this here but feel free to ignore since it's so old
Then I will find someone who can get you out of there, sir.
[Bzoom... off he went.]

So she almost doesn't stop when she sees the box, until she notices that it's moving.
Pausing, she watches it try to scoot around, mostly unsuccessfully. Curiosity is burning, but she's going to be late to class-
The box speaks, and she hurries closer.
"Hello? Is someone in this box?"
no subject
And once he finally hears a voice, he optimistically adds another reason to that mental list of things to be thankful for. Then he stops knocking on the box and responds to...whoever it is outside.
"Um, yes, there is. I'm not sure how I got here though."
no subject
She puts her bag on the ground, then hurries over, looking the box over. It's taped pretty well, and there doesn't seem to be a weak spot. Hmm...
There has to be a scientific way to get him out!
After circling the box and giving it some thought, she finally comes to a conclusion, and-
grabs the top of the box and rips as hard as she can!!
She's not very strong, but a little pulls back. Enough that she can peek in and see him.
"I've almost got it!"
no subject
"Ah, thank you! I think I can take it over from here..."
Keyword: think.
"Okay, here goes!"
At that, he tries to pull what she opened back even further... But while he does manage to open it up a little more, it doesn't budge as much as he'd like it to. Unfortunately, he can't really put his weight on it and pull when he's sitting. And it's not like he could stand to try.
...Yeah, no, he can't get a good grip on it. What a semi-gloomy turn of events.
"This is the part where I reconsider not carrying scissors around..."
no subject
And so saying, she climbs up on the box, the idea being to pull the top back with the proper leverage from above.
The only thing is, the box isn't that sturdy, and the top sags under her weight.
She grabs where they've ripped. "Okay, one, two... three!"
She pulls a little back!
...And then it breaks and she falls through the lid on top of him.
"Aah!"
no subject
Unfortunately, by the time he realizes exactly what she means, he's too late to stop her. All he can manage is a short "Wait a minute, that might--" before she falls. On him. Owwww. (He might have said that out loud too.)
He'd move right away, but he's still recovering from, you know, having the wind knocked out of him.
Why is he Super High School Level Good Luck again...?
no subject
Ema tries to get up off him (probably managing to step on him a few times in the process) and gives him and apologetic smile.
"You're free from the box now! So just look on the bright side."
She looks at the sides curiously. "Why were you in here, anyway?"
no subject
"Thanks for helping me out there. Frankly, I was scared I was going to be stuck there for a long time..."
But there's no need to dwell on that now that he's free.
"Why I was in the box? No idea... When I woke up, I was already in trapped in there."
no subject
She turns and looks at the box, as though it might suddenly divulge its secrets.
"If even you don't know, that makes it a mystery!" She looks very excited about that. "We should look for clues."
She reaches into her bag and starts digging through it.
"Luckily, I bring my fingerprinting powder with me everywhere. I'll have to get your prints, of course, so I can rule those out..."
She's lost in her own world now.
no subject
He's not sure whether or not to ask about why she carries around fingerprinting powder... Either way, she did help him out of the box, so cooperating is the least he can do for now. Plus, he wants to know the culprit's identity, and if fingerprinting helps with that, all the better!
"...Yeah, I really haven't seen this box before." Still trying to process what's going on, Naegi crouches down next to the box to get a better look.
The design looks really familiar... Well, more than familiar actually. The logo makes it clear that the box was inspired by the appearance of that bear. Even with that blatant clue though, he can't say he knows the reason why he'd be shipped here...wherever here was. Nor does he feel like bringing it up at the moment to avoid accusations of insanity.
no subject
She notices him staring at the logo, but doesn't read too much into it. She's brushing fingerprinting dust around the lid of the box, where the culprit would most likely touch the box to close it.
"And you have no idea who would have it out for you to put you in the box in the first place?"
no subject
As he says that, he points at said logo. But he doesn't try to step closer so he doesn't disturb her work or anything like that.
"But I don't see how he could have stuffed me into this box and shipped me here."
no subject
She bends down to look at the logo curiously. It looks like a teddy bear.
"He looks cute! Surely he couldn't have done something like that."
She pulls out her notebook and writes it down. "But it's definitely a lead."
no subject
Which is the understatement of the century.
"But there's only one other person I'd think would try to put me in a box...and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do that. Probably."
Even if that person did ask him to sell his organs so he could pay off his debtors, he wouldn't do it against a friend's will! Right? ...Right?
no subject
The people you associate with, Naegi..."You seem to know a lot of people who probably wouldn't put you in a box. That's going to widen our suspect list."
She taps her chin, then the obvious question occurs to her.
"What were you doing and where were you before you woke up in the box? Do you remember?"
no subject
They're all nice people! ...Usually."Um, well..." Naegi trails off for a moment there, trying to figure out how he should answer that question. While he does want it to be detailed, it'd take too long to explain all the topsy-turvy stuff that went on at Hope's Peak.
"I was in a school and about to head outside with my classmates. And...that's it. I don't even remember what was on the other side of the door."
no subject
She writes that down on her pad, too, in case that's a clue.
"The most likely subjects in that case seem to be the bear or one of your classmates." She taps her chin. "We can rule out your classmates if we can find them, but I don't know how to get the fingerprints of a bear."
That sounds hard.
no subject
"I wonder if he'd even have pawprints? I know he has claws, but I've never actually got a good look at his han—paws before."
Because that's totally the part to comment on here.
no subject
Even though she still thinks such a cute bear couldn't have done such a thing.
"I'll keep looking."
And she keep spreading the powder around, but she's not finding anything.
no subject
"Um... I guess this means the culprit wore gloves? Or didn't have fingerprints in the first place."
no subject
She sighs, moving back from the box. "I think we've gotten all we will out of this box. I guess it's up to what you can remember now."
She looks up at him. "I'm sorry I can't help more now. But I'll keep an eye out for the teddy bear guy!"
no subject
And he's so lucky it was someone nice, too! Let's just say it might not have ended so well if someone hostile freed him from the box.
"Anyway, thank you so much for opening the box! I definitely owe you one."
no subject
She's about to head to class again, when she remembers something important!
"Oh. I'm Ema Skye, by the way! Um, welcome to Smash Academy!"
She holds up her arms in a welcoming motion.
The Room
A quick cleaning of his side later (which didn't take long considering he was already immaculate with his things), he decides to stay in his room, laying on his bed to draw instead of heading to the library. No classes until a few hours anyway, so let's see who he ends up rooming with this time...a Pokemon? A Demon?
no subject
While not new to dorm rooms, he never shared one with a roommate before. Hope's Peak Academy had separate rooms for all the students, and as awkward as it is to say, he got used to it. He couldn't help but feel nervous. What if the person was scary? Or hated suddenly having to share their room with someone? Or tried to throw a pillow at his face? Or even worse, tried to extract his organs while he was sleeping?
...Yeah, okay, no, there's no way it could be that bad. Right? ...Right?
Feeling a little ridiculous after letting his imagination run wild, he finally knocked on the door two times and spoke up.
"Hello? Is anyone here?"
no subject
"Door's open babe, just let yourself in and come on in to meet your new roommate!"
The voice was gruff, and oddly sounded like Ishimaru's mixed with Mondo's but...babe?
no subject
Thankfully, Naegi has more than enough tact to safely lock those questions and more away into his mind before he placed his hand on the doorknob.
"Okay! Sorry for the intrusion."
At that, he opened the door and stepped in. Once he's out of range of any possible accidental door puntings, he let the door close softly as he can. It wouldn't do to make a bad impression as someone noisy by shutting the door with a loud thud! With that done, Naegi turned around to speak with the other person in the room. (For a brief moment, he wonders if someone's hiding in the room, but he stops himself from looking first.)
"I'm glad to hear you got the memo." Because he sure didn't. Now's not the time to dwell on that though, as much as he wants to. "Um, it's nice to meet you! My name's Makoto Naegi, and I'm a third-year. I actually just arrived here today... What about you?"
no subject
smurfstanding next to him."Eikichi Mishina, but you can call me Michel, spreading the love all over Smash Academy HOOOOOOOO!"
no subject
Needless to say, the sudden capitalization startled him enough to stand stock straight for a moment. But only for a moment. He calmed down just as quickly before he looked up at...yet another tall guy.
Why does everyone have to be so tall?
Tallness aside, Naegi got the impression of someone...intense? Kind of like Ishimaru in a way, but much less dialed down. Even if he did scream "HOOOOOOOO" just now. So it's nothing he hasn't seen before, really. Nothing to be startled about! (Nod, nod.)
"Um, I mean, thanks for doing that on such short notice! I hope I didn't interrupt anything."
no subject
Congratulations.
"Where you from, Naegi?"
no subject
"From--" And suddenly an ice cream truck jingle starts playing outside for no reason whatsoever. Conveniently, it obscures what Naegi actually said in this narration, but not in reality. Or as close to reality as an RP can get it, to be more exact.
"But that reminds me...where is this school?"
no subject
"Never heard of the place," he replied, having actually never heard of the place. "Well...to be honest, I'm not sure, bro! The school is located in Final Destination City, but apart from that I'm not sure where it's located. Could be some part of the world I never heard of, the collective unconsciousness or another universe for all I know."
The type of place where you go out and get some melons and reappear a year later.
no subject
"Final Destination City sure sounds like a name out of some strange story... Maybe we got sucked into a video game? Or a book." He's pretty sure he's read something like that in a manga once, though he can't recall its name. And let's be fair, this place is totally odd enough that a ridiculous explanation like that sounds plausible.
