Let us craft things from pieces of tree.
Who: Joel and anyone who wants to learn how to Shop the Wood.
What: Wood shop, wood shop. Let's all learn to Carpentry.
Where: Shop class.
When: Friday afternoon.
Warnings: It's wood shop. So. Uh. Don't step on any nails.
Joel had picked Friday Afternoon very specifically for this class. So far as he was concerned having a practical, hands on class at the end of a busy week full of books and words and numbers and stuff was a blessing for poor, hard done by high schoolers with more energy than sense.
Incidentally, that was before he'd discovered that the curriculum here was as likely to involve running around in simulated environments shooting things as it was long division and book reports.
Despite carpentry not being quite as incredible as anything involving the stadium, he had to have at least some faith that some kids would want to learn how to make things. And he'd picked out a pretty simple first project to see where everyone was at in terms of prior knowledge.

What was it with all the strange hair at this school. Blue hair, dreadlocks that defied gravity, and now hair modeled on the noble sweetcorn.
Well. It wasn't Joel's job to offer stylistic advice. He was here to teach wood working. So long as Mondo didn't get his hair caught in the belt sander, they'd be fine.
"Name?" he asked.

Anyway, Joel has one student whose head looks halfway towards being a plant, and smells like a lovely bouquet.

...kid had nice taste in cologne, though. He smelled good.
"Hey. Name?" he asked, standing there with his official roll taking clipboard.

"Name?" he asked, walking over with his roll call clipboard. Man, this fella might have issues with some of the bigger pieces of equipment. It would be best to keep a close eye on him.

Re: Attendance.
Hagakure is actually good with tools.
Hagakure has the chance to do not do poorly in this class.
That's amazing.

Re: Attendance.
It was ready to assimilate data.
Re: Attendance.
"Didn't request any additional equipment." he mumbled to himself, grabbing one of R.O.B.s hands and looking at it. What WAS this thing? Some kind of fancy vice or something? Considering the level of technology in the stadium, he shouldn't be surprised that there were crazy advanced tools on offer as well. He just had no idea how to USE this thing.

Project #1 - Birdhouse.
Then came a brief demonstration of their intended project.
"All the pieces have been pre cut so you don't have to worry about usin' too many tools if you're not real comfortable with them. We'll start going over that stuff next lesson."
And he'll be walking around checking on people's progress throughout the class, of course.

So, his main trouble was mostly hammering down the nails, but otherwise, it seemed like it came out rather decent if ready to fall apart at any moment.

He walked over and took a look at the boy's house.
"How do you think you did?" he asked.

"Today isn't about bein' creative. This is just a simple test run so I can see how you all stack up, experience wise. We're gonna be doin' individual projects later."

Re: Project #1 - Birdhouse.
He began to assemble his birdhouse with machine-like precision. Because, you know, he's a machine.

Questions or Lurkers.
Are you a non-student, checking up on the new guy and making sure he's not using his powers of carpentry for evil?
Or do you just want to chat?
This is where all that stuff goes.
