As a quiet Friday dawned on the school's campus, one could perhaps...feel it in the air. A creeping chill, a silent, barely-detectable indication that yes. Tonight would be the night.



By Saturday morning, the entire academy would be covered in snow.

BUT WAIT



That wasn't all--a large pine tree had made an appearance on the main quad, in desperate need of decoration.

"I'm still sick of lookin' at snow," he admitted with a laugh. "My school before here was snowed in for awhile, so I was hopin' fall had lasted longer."

At least they weren't stuck inside, that he was rather thankful of.

"Really? How long did you get snowed in for?" she asked.

Brown paused briefly before pulling up his fingers, trying to recall the exact memory.

"Probably at least a week, couldn't tell really, it's a long while," He answered.

"Wow... That's a long time! How'd you avoid freezing?"

"This guy mostly," he jerked his thumb to the twirling Persona.

"Well... That makes sense," she replied. "You're full of surprises."

"Heh, well it's part of the package," Brown laughed.

"So... What brings you out here today?" she asked him, hands in her coat pockets.

'Throwing snowballs at unsuspecting people,' he wanted to say but he wasn't entirely sure if he should tell Shantae that.

"No idea! Seemed like a good idea at the time to wander around," he lied, Pyro Jack suddenly turned it's direction to him curiously. Stupid Persona, he thought to himself as he avoided eye contact from Pyro Jack.

"Really, huh?" she said, smirking. "Your other self there seems to disagree with you," she suggested.

"Pshhh, don't pay any mind to him at all," Brown said as he try his best to ignore the Persona floating to him curiously.

"Hoo, lying to girls, how ungentlemanly." Pyro Jack piped up.

"Oh shut it, Pumpkin-head," he muttered back.

"Oh don't mind me," she teased. "By all means, you two work this out amongst yourselves."

"No, it's totally fine, Shantae. I can totally expl--"

"Hee was going to throw a snowball at you from behind, hee hoo."

Brown could, for once, could only stood in silence and flush in embarrassment. Great, now she's going to think he was a total ass along with being a dweeb who got cockblocked by (technically) himself.

Her eyebrow raised at the comment. "Really now..."

She turned her back to Brown, arms crossed. "I can't believe you'd stoop to that! If you're going to throw a snowball at someone... make it head on!"

She knelt down, scooped up some snow, whirled around and chucked it at Brown.

Brown didn't had time to react, still surprise at Shantae's attitude. It threw him so off that Pyro Jack faded away from his lack of concentration.

Huh. Well.

Shantae really was a pretty cool girl.

A familiar grin started to appear as he scooped his own and threw it at her as a means of revenge.

Shantae tried to dodge to the side, but took the snowball to the shoulder, laughing. She ran for another snow pile, grabbing up some more to pack another ball and chuck it back at Brown. He was definitely a nice guy, if a bit awkward. He reminded her a bit of Bolo, and that kind of familiarity made her feel just that much closer to home.
