As a quiet Friday dawned on the school's campus, one could perhaps...feel it in the air. A creeping chill, a silent, barely-detectable indication that yes. Tonight would be the night.



By Saturday morning, the entire academy would be covered in snow.

BUT WAIT



That wasn't all--a large pine tree had made an appearance on the main quad, in desperate need of decoration.

All things that he wasn't going to voice to a student, even if they shared magical fire abilities. "She's a little...unconventional. Hard to shop for."

Yeah, Falcon wasn't all that helpful.

"What about something personal? I don't know how serious you are, but maybe she'd like that..."

[raced_god]

Yeah, Falcon was not very good at elaborating on the details of his personal life. As was evidenced by the prolonged silence that followed the question.

"Yeah, she would." The hard part was figuring out what kind of personal thing Samus would like. "I've already done the jewelry thing, though."

"It doesn't have to be jewelery," she said. "Something from the heart, something that makes you think of her."

[raced_god]

"Yeah," he said, nodding and continuing to be incredibly vague about absolutely everything. Time to deflect!

"What's the best gift you've received?"

[vela_nova]

Blaze was taken aback by the question. "The best gift...? I'm... I'm not sure..." Way to put her on the spot.

[raced_god]

HA HA there, put on the spot.

"Okay, how about a cool gift, then?"

[vela_nova]

"That--"

Blaze stopped herself. Her eyes narrowed.

"This isn't about me. Stop deflecting."

[raced_god]

"I'm not deflecting," he replied without missing a beat, hands raised in mock-defense. "Genuinely curious."

[vela_nova]

"Yes. You are," she told him. "If you don't want to talk about it, then just say so."

With that, she turned on her heel to leave.

Oof, touchy, much? Falcon, however, was sort of glad to be off the hook. No skin off his back, really.

KER-SHRUG.

As she left, she called over her shoulder, "For your girlfriend's sake, I hope you can get over yourself soon."
