Who: Ike [
welikeike] and Pit [
raw_angel_power]
What: Ike is a confused newbie at Smash Academy and doesn't understand why he got somebody else's blind date card? HE DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS
Where: I'm gonna plant them in the common room for now. They can go somewhere else later if it happens.
When: 11-28-13, late afternoon
This had to be some mistake. The invitation had his name on it but it just couldn't be his, because he didn't sign up.
Ike had seen all of those fliers posted up around campus advertising some blind date and a free dinner. The free food, he wouldn't mind. But it didn't feel right going for something that he wasn't interested in doing. So he didn't sign up. Imagine his surprise when he got a notification anyway.
Somehow, Ike wondered if he'd find answers by wandering around. Maybe he'd find whoever was responsible for this and tell them he didn't want in on this. Instead he found a familiar face.
"Pit!" he called out, trying to grab his attention.

"I got this today. It's for those blind dates all over the walls. I didn't sign up, but I received an invitation with my name on it." He paused, like he was trying to figure out what to do about this. "It's probably just a mistake, so I'm thinking I should figure out who's behind this event to make sure nobody's left disappointed because they picked the wrong person. Have any ideas?"

"Then the organizer of this event shouldn't include people who don't want to participate," he replied curtly. "Do they honestly think this will work?" Ike crumpled up his invitation, frustrated at the notion that somebody would include him against his will. He shoved it in a pocket carelessly.

It wasn't like he didn't sympathize with Ike's predicament. He'd hate to be shoved into a blind date without permission, too, even if all the times he'd gone had been willful on his part. "Sorry about this. I'd totally step in for you, but I'm already signed up." He unzipped a pocket of his messenger bag and procured a wrinkled paper folded in half, just to prove his word. "See? Hey, maybe you'll luck out and get me as a date! We'll just make it a free dinner instead! No pressure."

But it was also a lot of trouble to get his name removed if the organizers wouldn't claim responsibility. If not them, then who?
"What would I be expected to do if I went?" he asked. It was possible to simply experiment with the idea. He'd hate to leave somebody sitting there all night, it was true.

His eyes were compelled toward the torn sleeves and tattered edges of his new friend's cape after saying that, and he couldn't help but draw his eyebrows up disconcerted. "...You're not gonna wear that, are you?"
no subject
"These are the only clothes I have with me. I have the school uniform, but I don't think I could bear wearing that much more than I already do. It's stiff and uncomfortable." He paused for a moment. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing, anyway? I don't put on appearances."

"I'll keep that in mind, but I'm not sure there's much I can do to follow the standard." His hand moved to the back of his neck in uncertainty. "It's like I said, this is about all I have. So, aside from dress... What else should I expect?"
no subject
"Let's see... I remember being new to this, too. I was worried about having to instantly form a relationship with the person I was dating when I wasn't ready for a huge step like that in my life. I mean, there are romantic undertones for sure, but it doesn't have to mean anything serious! It's mostly just... a candlelit dinner where you sit down and get to know someone better." At this point he began to list things off on his fingers, like he was recalling a list, though he wasn't doing anything of the sort except thinking backwards. "Ask questions about them, just like any old casual conversation. Be respectful, talk as well as listen, and if things just aren't working out- your date is a monster, wants to eat you, keeps flirting with you in really inappropriate ways, whatever! It's perfectly okay to leave early. Is there anything else you need to know?"

"Thanks Sonic."Ike laughed. "Yeah, I know how to talk to people. And I didn't expect anything romantic to come out of this." A mere blind date couldn't force two people to call it official. That would be ridiculous.
Some of Pit's insight stuck, though. "Thinking of it as just meeting someone new is a different take on it. It's comforting, to say the least," he added.

"No, it's a convincing offer," he agreed. "At least to me. I think I'll go, at least to keep my table partner from being by themselves all night. What's the worst that could happen?"
