BLIND DATES: A TABLES

[This restaurant is known for its seafood, steak, and sushi selection. The food is cooked in the open for the costumers to watch being prepared, the odd sound of fire flaring up on the grill heard as certain dishes are put together!

Despite the fancy entertainment the décor is simple and spacious, but not unsightly.There's a Japanese feel to the place, the colours of red and black dominating the furnishings. People are simply dressed, and invited diners are told to dress the same; not too formal, not too casual.

The music played matches the laid-back atmosphere, catchy but not distracting. Chatter mingles in with it, and may help to ease some dates this tonight. Or not.

The candles on the table here are-- candles? There are no candles here! But on the tables reserved for the academy, there's a card. Each card has a different letter-number combination. Find your table!]

Pit had gotten into the swing of doing this every year. While it released butterflies into his chest at the prospect of 'dating' someone, even if just for a night, his past one with Cilan had been pleasant, and finding out who your partner was for the night filled him with eager anticipation. Plus, who could say no to free grub?

He showed up first to his table, like he often did, and sat down, glancing up at his environment every now and then while scanning the menu for words he recognized to pass the time.

Riwane wouldn't be too far behind. At first she had been hesistant, not having remembered ever putting in for a blind date, but as most knew, she never backed out of a challenge... Even if this wasn't technically a challenge!

Nonetheless, she came through looking around to try and find where she'd be dining at. The place was pretty cool and she was smiling the moment she saw flame erupt every now and then at the preparation of some meals. One she spotted her table and noticed her date had arrived before her, Riwane smiled and moved towards it as she waved with a big, amiable smile.

"'Ey there!"

At the sound of her greeting, Pit snapped to attention and made sure she was talking to him before he blurted anything stupid. Since she was looking straight at him, the answer was clear. "Hello there!" he said with an unexpectedly dry throat- it might have been the nerves catching up with him all over again. She was good-looking and had a nice smile that may have been the trigger. Inspired by a notion out of the blue, he scooted out of his chair and wandered over to the one she would sit at, gripping the back with both hands so he could slide it back and offer it to her with pinkening cheeks. "If you're my A5 date, please, take a seat!"

Riwane smiled at his actions and nodded, "That'd be me! Ain't you a peach bein' all gentlemanly an' such. Thank ya kindly," she stated before taking her seat, trying to mind her tail from hitting him or anyone else for that matter. Wouldn't want her tail flame from setting anything on fire.

She must be a Charizard, he thought amid his jumpy heartbeat. That tail and the wings left it unmistakable, and there were quite a few of those around on campus. Come to think of it, he might have seen her around, too! She must be in some of his classes. He wasn't sure.

"Oh, it's nothing at all!" He scooted her in, then swung back around the table to plant his butt back in its seat. His smile was a bit goofy, but he said, "So, my name's Pit! What's yours?"

Once she was well arranged and with her extra appendages out of the way, Riwane scooted up a little and smiled brightly.

"Riwane," she started with a slight nod towards him. "It's a mighty fine pleasure ta meet ya Pit! How are ya doin' today? Seems you're in good spirits which honestly makes me feel real good for bein' here."

She was throwing grain at the skittish little birds in his chest because he was glad he had the power to do that. He gripped each side of his chair and tried not to kick his feet in response. "That's good! Dates are supposed to be fun! I guess that means I'm doing pretty well today, huh?"

"So far so good! First impressions mean a lot don't they? So Ah'd say yer doin' a gosh darn good job!" Riwane added with a giggle. "Man, this here place looks darn good. Ah hope tha food's jus' as good!"

"Only one way to find out," said Pit, flipping open his menu. "And that's to order up!" Gosh, it sure was kind of difficult to pick something off the menu when you could barely read what was on it. He may have been taking reading lessons from his friend Bulba, but he was a bit of a slow learner and while he could recognize some letters better than others, stringing them together into whole sentences was another beast to tackle entirely.

"See, Ah like ya already, ya know yer priorities!" Riwane giggled as she too flipped through the book. Although for the ravenous Charizard, the choices were rather easy and just looking at some of the images and the choices of some of the other restaurant goers? She already had her mind set up.

"Hee, all've it looks so good! But Ah know Ah'll be gettin' tha steak, an' more steak, an' more steak, all different cuts and maybe some seafood delight on tha side fur good meassure!" Yup, this gal could put it down like some large beasts! It's that blazing metabolism!

"Whoa... Big appetite!" The waiter came around and paused next to their table, asking if they were ready yet. Pit hesitated, not sure what he wanted to eat but also not sure if he could figure out what was on the menu in the first place, so he backed into his Plan B.

"Yeah, we're ready! You wanna go first?" he asked Riwane.

"Hee, it all gits burned up in this here furnace of mine," she patted her well toned abdomen. It was clear the girl at least trained hard to keep up her strengths.

When the waiter arrived and Pit asked her to go first, she nodded. "Sounds good!" she replied with a bright smile. "Alrite, here," she motioned the waiter closer. "Ah'll be wantin' this here, an' this, an' this one oh! An' a side a' this here and the order of seafood medley from the ocean menu!"

Honestly, all she did was point at the meat menu and the seafood menu.

Even the waiter was surprised by the amount of food she ordered, and his pencil scrawled across the pad so fast it could catch fire. When it came to Pit's turn to decide, he said, "I'll have everything she wants!"

"...Everything?"

"Yeah! Is there a problem?"

"...Nnno, not at all," he replied, downplaying how weird he thought these two were being but relieved that he could just write a 'x2' after the exhaustive list he'd constructed. "We'll have your food ready as fast as we can." And then, he turned to leave.

Riwane grinned big and gave Pit a double thumbs up.

"Yeehaw! That's what Ah'm talkin' 'bout! An' don't ya worry none, Ah'm sure we can take home whatever we can't finish!"

Though honestly, no one had ever seen Riwane go back home with a 'to-go box'.

Once the waiter left, Riwane turned her attention back to Pit.

"So, what year ya in at the Academy? Or are ya part 'a tha staff? Can't believe we haven't met before! Ya seem like a rite enuff feller!"

Oh, good! He impressed his date! He would make sure to try and match her in appetite- bonus points if he could surpass her.

"I'm a sophomore," he replied, deciding not to mention that technically he should be a senior, since he'd been held back so much.

Thinking of being held back....

Riwane smiled but rubbed the back of her head a bit embarrassed.

"Nice! Ah'm a senior... though, Ah hate ta admit that Ah shoulda graduated a long time ago... H-haha! But Ah'm totally gunna make it this year fur sure!"

She added with a thumbs up.

Pit's eyes bugged out. "You mean, you were held back?"

Riwane grinned a bit awkwardly but nodded. "Haha, y-yeah... a good deal too. It's taken a while ta git used ta this whole school thing. But! Ah'm totally ready ta graduate this year fur sure!" she added as she gave a thumbs up.

Pit mirrored her thumbs-up with a passionate flair. "Go for the gold, girl!" he cheered. Withdrawing his thumb to join it on his lap with his other hand, he added, "Actually, I know how it feels. Not to graduate on time. In fact, this year I teeeechnically should have been a senior."

"Oh wow, you too? Bummer... But Ah guess it means Ah ain't alone in it... not that Ah'd wish being held back on anyone mind ya! But Ah guess knowing that there's more people learnin' like me makes me feel better."

She smiled brightly and nodded, "Thanks Pit!"

His palms flew up flatly in front of him as if to wave the potential offense off. "No! It really does make me feel better, too. I get you. So... which spots were you sore at? Maybe I'm really good at them and can help coach you to get better?"

Riwane looked pretty happy now and tapped her chin in thought. "Ah'm not good at numbers or history. Ah'm always gettin' mah dates mixed up or tha events an' such. An' all them formulas in math give me one doozy of a headache."

"Oh... Yeah, I can see where you're coming from," Pit replied understandingly. "They can be difficult. Dates and numbers... they're totally the same thing, right? Math isn't really my strong suit- I'm not terrible at it, and I'm not a mathematician, either, but I think I'm pretty good at history." He took a quick sip of water and set his glass down. "What if you tried making cards with dates and events, then organized them from earliest to latest? Do you think that might help when you're studying?"

"Cards? Like them flash cards they show on tv ta teach little kids stuff?" she asked curiously before beaming over at him. "Ah've never thought of that! Ah think Ah should give that a try an' see if that'll help. Ah mean, mite as well try everything rite?"
