Robot Martial Law!

Who: You and the GLORIOUS ROBOTS OF THE EGGMAN EMPIRE!
What: Robot Martial Law!
Where: FDC!
When: May 24 - June 1
Warnings: POSSIBLE VIOLENCE

Well, it finally happened. Things went too far. A mad scientist was in charge of security in the city, and had declared martial law.

And it was... working???

The streets were quiet as curfew approached. The riots had all but stopped. Crime was on the decline. Perhaps things under. the Eggman Empire wouldn't be so bad after all...

Robots were out on patrol across the city. Would you be one of the ones to rub the militia the wrong way? Did you have a crime to report? Did you have objections to how this whole situation was being handled? Your friendly robot militia would be happy to listen.

I think.

Chell's escape attempt Part 2: the failure

[personal profile] testsubject1 2013-06-08 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Chell had successfully escaped this curfew once. She stayed away from the school for a few days after that, relishing in the freedom of not being trapped by a bunch of robots, but... that joy was short-lived. She was still trapped in this city somehow. Some sort of unknown force was preventing her from leaving - she would either walk in circles or hit some sort of unknown barrier. (And she knew she wasn't the only one. Others had suffered from this.)

So reluctantly she came back to the school after a few days, needing food, clean clothes, a shower... But she didn't stay for long. She just couldn't. Not when those electronic menaces were surrounding the school, mocking her. Entrapping her against her will. It was definitely partially a desire to show them up, to prove to these robots that she could overcome them.

Once more she leaped from her window, safely landing on her feet on the wet grass during the dark of the night. The street lights and the moon provided illumination, along with any lights the robots might be sporting, so Chell of course attempted to remain in the darkness as best she could. As long as that bee didn't find her again. As long as those robots didn't remember her portals. She would have to find that road again and make portals...

I am just so determined to have her get caught hahaha I'm horrible

How many others had been able to avoid this totalitarian robot-lord's patrol? Chell wouldn't really be surprised if she was the first and only one to do so - but it didn't matter. All that mattered was that she could escape. Maybe there was some thrill in it to her, some excitement in a droll life.

Or maybe this time she could finally get out of the city.

It wasn't long before Chell heard those familiar buzzing sounds. There were more of them. Had they spotted her yet? She had to move quickly and quietly now, try not to use her Portal gun unless she had to. (Because... these weren't testing robots. They could potentially learn.)

Unfortunately, Chell was not a perfect escape artist at all. She hadn't been aware that the texture of the ground had changed to a stone pathway, increasing the loudness of her steps... until she found herself falling. There was a small stair there that she hadn't seen, so she ended up falling forward onto her knees, creating enough of a noise to alert anyone nearby. Oh no.

Oh god it was that bee. Well, maybe it wasn't the same one, but Chell didn't care. They were all the same to her, so she did her best to scramble up from the ground and simply run. Great. How was she going to do this now? The portals... She was trying to figure out where to place them, but she knew she wasn't near a portal-friendly surface. Or two of them, rather. The school was close by, but that was it.

She was trying to think of any action she could take as the bee drew closer and closer. No, she couldn't give up. Not now! Just a little bit closer until she got to the road, hopefully... just a little bit... But then the bee would likely catch her before then.

All of a sudden, those robots had just appeared. Blocking her path. She stopped in her tracks, trying to think quickly. The road. Portals. If she could place portals behind the robots, then she could run, perhaps...

She aimed her gun and tried to shoot, but she couldn't get a good aim on the road. The robots were too close, in the way. So now it was time for physical action.

As one of the robots closed in, she brought up a leg and aimed to kick it away.

This wasn't good. Not at all. There were too many robots and not enough ways to dispose of them quick enough for an escape. She couldn't reach any portal surfaces from this vantage point... But she couldn't give up. (In the back of her mind, she could only imagine that the punishment would be terrible. Torture, death. Something.)

She kicked more, trying to dismantle more of them, but it was no use. They were closing in on her with weapons.

She couldn't die. Not like this. So it was with great reluctance that she finally stopped. She put her two hands up in the air, showing her surrender (though her portal gun was still attached). She could figure out how to get out of this mess soon enough. As long as she could avoid those weapons.

Once her arms were grabbed, though, Chell struggled. And those struggled were magnified tenfold when she felt them pull away her gun. No, she needed that! She couldn't be without a weapon now...

The grip on her was iron-tight, though, and it's not like she had any chance of loosening herself from it. But oh, she tried.

The distinctive sound of the portal gun firing was heard, and Chell immediately looked in its direction, still struggling against the grips of the robots. It was almost like she wasn't even in the grip - they moved seamlessly amidst her struggles, it seemed. She still didn't want to give up, though.

There was a mild pang of triumph when the robot blew its own head off, but she still couldn't escape from the grip. It was just a mild detour.

Sigh.

It was ruthless the way she was shoved inside that tight capsule. She wanted to scream to be let out, but that wouldn't work. She immediately pounded on the walls with her fists in an attempt to get loose, but it was fruitless.

Being trapped inside of Aperture was one thing... at least she had room to move around, but this...

She was nearly suffocating. So she could really only wait until someone let her out.

Oh, a cell. There were others in other cells too.

Well, at least there was room to move. Chell had tired herself out from banging on the capsule walls, so she simply sat. And waited.
