Robot Martial Law!

Who: You and the GLORIOUS ROBOTS OF THE EGGMAN EMPIRE!
What: Robot Martial Law!
Where: FDC!
When: May 24 - June 1
Warnings: POSSIBLE VIOLENCE

Well, it finally happened. Things went too far. A mad scientist was in charge of security in the city, and had declared martial law.

And it was... working???

The streets were quiet as curfew approached. The riots had all but stopped. Crime was on the decline. Perhaps things under. the Eggman Empire wouldn't be so bad after all...

Robots were out on patrol across the city. Would you be one of the ones to rub the militia the wrong way? Did you have a crime to report? Did you have objections to how this whole situation was being handled? Your friendly robot militia would be happy to listen.

I think.

Above her. Chell had checked above her at times, but sometimes it was hard to really see in the dark. But she was confident that she could outwit these robots, because she had done so before. Not once, not twice... But a few times.

Still, she didn't notice the bee robot at first as she crept behind the bushes, that is, until she heard the buzzing. With an inaudible gasp and wide eyes, she looked up, seeing that horrid bee monstrosity above her before she dove into the bushes, loudly rustling thorns and leaves. Thorns scraped across her skin, but she didn't care. Minor damage as long as she could escape.

With heavy breaths, Chell listened to the bee draw closer. If she was captured, it wouldn't be so bad, right? She'd just be returned to that school. That prison. It wasn't a bad place, but... she couldn't simply sit there cooped up while all number of hostile robots patrolled the place.

Chell had no idea when to jump out of the bushes. She was stuck. What a stupid situation she got herself into... Damned if she climbed out of the bush, damned if she didn't.

She wasn't too far from the street, fortunately... Maybe the Portal gun would work there? With a short rustle of leaves, Chell poked the gun out from the bush as she peered from behind the foliage, shooting out a blue Portal. Ah, it worked! There was a closed blue Portal there! Not too far from it, then, she shot an orange Portal, thus opening the pathway. Perhaps the robots would fall in, perhaps not.

Great, that was Chell's cue to get out of the bushes. Those robots approaching her were now distracted, so she rustled her way out of the bushes and simply ran. That bee was still following her - inwardly she knew there was no way she could outrun that thing, and it was gaining on her rapidly.

How much longer until the other robots would approach? She had to think. Eyes darting back and forth, she looked for some sort of exit that would help, something she could use against that cursed bee.

But alas, that bee caught up to her, and she was close to panicking.

She had to think. Had to escape. This portal gun worked on some of these surfaces so obviously she had to make use of it. And she could fall for great distances due to these boots. Whatever she used to get away, she had to do it quickly, because that bee's stinger was just a few short feet away from stabbing her.

Chell dashed forward, running as far from the bee as possible, her boots finally hitting the hard pavement of the road. Where... Where could she place the portal? Frantically, she looked back toward one of the school's buildings and shot an orange portal to the wall. Then in front of her on the road, she created a blue portal and promptly jumped into it, falling out of the side of one of the school's buildings. Then she made another mad dash for it, in case that bee followed her.

Free. Chell ran and ran once she realized that robots weren't patrolling the area. All she could do was run until they found her again, but... Ah, she was finally free.

The bee had simply stopped. She would have to remember that next time. So maybe the next night it would be easier to leave. For now, though, she would find a place in the city to sleep, come back the next day, and try this again. (It would be easier to just stay away from the school, which she actually would end up doing for a couple of days, but she was still trapped within this city's walls somehow. So she would come back.)

And then Carbon would create another log where Chell would finally get caught by the robots because she enjoys annoying Jeff.
