We're getting our holidays mixed up all over the place
'Twas two nights before Valentine's Day, and all through the school
Not a creature was stirring, not even a OH HOLY HELL someone opened another time rift. They told you kids to stop playing with interdimensional physics for a reason! You might cause a wormhole, or summon a demon from a corrupt universe, or maybe even rip someone out of a motorcycle death cage before they could be fully packaged as a dairy product for a sadistic teddy bear's breakfast.
In the boiler room, space itself yawned, and out shot a dude and a bike. It worked sort of like this. Needless to say, that was quite the crash. He busted through the water heater too, so pity to the soul who was taking a nice, hot shower.
Mondo got out pretty darn scathed, but way less scathed than he would have been if this freak accident never occurred in the first place. The bike, however... Kind of totaled! It was probably a blessing in disguise he had been tethered so tightly to that high seat back of his because it saved him from being flung into the wall. The bike slumped over next to the ventilator system and Mondo went with it, still shackled to his bike, too dizzy to even realize he crashed in the first place. His eyes were spinning in almost a literal sense. He'd be like that for quite some time.
It's late. Those keen on listening may have heard (or felt) a mysterious crash shake the student dorm building earlier that night, but after that piece of fanfare, it was over. Then nothing.
Later on, while your characters are trying to sleep, they might start to hear... painful, angry human voices? Hey, where are they coming from, anyway? They sound so far away, and yet so close. It sure isn't the haunted dorm, but you never know... Whatever it is, it sure does sound haunted. Moaning, groaning, the occasional outburst... You can just barely decipher what it's saying. Kind of sounds like it might be coming from the vents if you really search around.
((OOC: Basically, this post has three purposes. One, it's an announcement that the school is now ~haunted~ for a night. Two, you can use this post to have your dudes react to all the spooky noises (ie freak the fuck out or hide under your roomie's bed) or three: maybe you could even... go investigate?? If you're gonna do the lattermost, I would like to request that, if it's going to end in Mondo leaving the boiler room and getting helped out, it happen the next day (13th) and that it's kept to one thread of events so my head's not left spinning like Mondo's.))

YOU DID THIS... YOOOU DIIIIIID THIIIIIS
I'm sorry, he wants to say, but no matter how much he moves his lips he just can't get the words out. He wants to run - run far away from here, run to the execution stage and find some way to stop it - but his legs can't move. Even if they could, he's being held back by a pair of firm dark hands, restraining him because he still had the strength to struggle and fight before the execution began.
Now he can only watch helplessly as the motorcycle becomes a blur in the death cage, can't look away, why can't he look away, he doesn't want to see this!! Mondo's voice seems louder than ever and Ishimaru can't even drown it out with his own screaming.
He tosses and turns and cries in his sleep, but he can't free himself from his nightmare.

this very nearly crashed my computer I hope you're happy
super happy
quite a bit later
But waking up in a place like this... Another school? Mondo was sure he'd been dying. Maybe he wasn't as easily beaten as everyone else. But that line of thought sort of ran into a dead end when his circumstances didn't make sense in general. People don't just teleport! There's no way he could have done that, in a cage no less. It didn't matter how or why he survived. Just that he survived. And as long as he was alive, he'd find a way to get back to hid old life, even if he had to crawl.
...But it seemed hopeless somehow. All those other students... They knew his secret. The world might know his secret by now. The gang... They might have learned how he saddled that lie on his shoulders and gave up all respect for him by now. Not like he had any right to be respected after all he had done. That last trial had hollowed out all that "strength" he had shaped for himself over the past couple years. Quite frankly, he sickened himself. If he had more energy, he'd sicken himself even more.
Words couldn't express how baffled he was by this crashing into another school that seemed just as far away from his own reality as Hope's Peak, but he would have probably been more baffled had he not been so lightheaded and mentally fogged over by, well, everything. He could barely read the numbers and letters on the doors and nearly picked at the wrong one before correcting himself and prying open the door to BE-15.
In the slant of light produced from the halls, Mondo catches sight of a bed just ahead and shuffles in for a straight path because at this point all he wants to do is collapse. He tosses the clothes and whatever else they gave him on the floor as he shuts the door behind him with his foot and makes his way over. With a groaning sigh, he crawls onto the bedspread and collapses facedown so he could float far away from here...
Except wow. This bed sure was lumpy. Kinda hard to float away when the bed isn't even right. He begins feeling around the form beneath him suspiciously - pinching what vaguely resembles a side here, a hipbone here- FUCK, that was a HIP BONE. What the hell?!
"You've... You've got to be shitting me... What the fuck is this?!"

Fortunately, any further nightmares were put on hold as the world suddenly came crashing down on him. Or at least his new roommate did.
The first thing Ishimaru was aware of was an intense discomfort across his entire body, which he gradually realized was something on top of him - right around the point when the thing uttered a voice that sounded only vaguely familiar to him in the waking world. But it was the kind of familiarity that resounded in his heart rather than his ears.
Whatever was happening, all he knew was that it definitely shouldn't be. He groaned and reached up for the person on top of him, blearily trying to shove them away.
"What...? What are you doing?" His words slurred in a way that made it pretty clear that he was nowhere near ready to be awake yet.

Ishimaru.
It hadn't been long at all for Mondo since he'd last seen him. Ugh. The last glimpse he got of him, that broken look smeared across his face... It was burned into his mind. But he honestly never expected to run into him here of all places. And he didn't even want to get started thinking about the hows or whys of it.
"You... Broth-" He was about to call him brother, but all of a sudden, he didn't feel like he warranted that sort of bond anymore. Shouldn't overstep it. He couldn't even imagine how much he resented him for murdering a fellow classmate, for killing his own brother and deliberately hiding his past from someone he swore he could "tell anything" to. So he bit his tongue and waited.

Now that it was happening, Ishimaru wasn't sure he believed it. He stared unblinkingly at Mondo's silhouette in the dark, waiting for him to turn out to be someone else or to just vanish entirely. There was no reason for him to be here in this room in the dead of night. It was just a dream.
But nothing happened to prove that theory.
Ishimaru sat up, his entire body trembling as he gripped Mondo's arms. His mouth moved but no sound came out; he didn't dare speak the other boy's name for fear that he was wrong after all.

Amid all the questions circulating in his mind about their bewildering spacial and temporal circumstances, one thing stood out among the rest. One thing he needed to get off his chest no matter the time and place. "...I'm..." He paused, balling up the sheets in his fists. "Sorry." It's all he had. "I fucked everything up, didn't I?"
no subject
Ishimaru's shock subsided, giving way to a whole flood of emotions he didn't even have the words to describe, clashing and conflicting with one another. Joy and relief to know that somehow Mondo was here with him, and the confusion over the circumstances. The grief he'd felt after the trial hitting him with full force. Anger that the person he'd trusted most in that entire situation had lied to everyone, even him; despite having been told the reasons, it still wasn't something he could relate to, and couldn't understand.
And the guilt... he'd tried so hard to keep everyone united and safe. That was his responsibility, as made clear in the Super Highschool Level title he'd put his entire being into earning. Each death made it clear to him he was a failure at all he'd worked for.
Hot tears stung at his eyes, but trying to blink them back only made them run down his cheeks. So many things he wanted to say, but he wasn't sure how. He wanted desperately to ask why, why why why, but the answer now would be the same as it was then.
"I couldn't stop it... You should have told me, I would have made sure, I--!"
His words cut off in a miserable sob, and his grip on Mondo tightened.
"I said-- I said you could tell me an-anything!"
no subject
"You would never have understood... And if you don't understand why I did it now, then you definitely wouldn't have then!" The tension in his arms as he shouted at the other student relaxed some, both from augmenting exhaustion and mellowing out to say something else. "You remember what that bastard said, right? About my weakness..."
His pride had already taken such a beating that swallowing these bitter words a second time wasn't any worse than the first time he screamed out his confessions to the rest of the class.
leaves all these stupid strikethroughs in
Because they were a bear.Ishimaru's voice shook
like a maraca. A dubstep maraca."That bastard... if it wasn't for him... if it wasn't...!!" His arms moved up to wrap around Mondo's shoulders and he buried his face in the crook of his neck to muffle his own wailing. Monobear wasn't the only one to blame, and Ishimaru knew it."I'm... I'm sorry..."
Sorry he wasn't strong enough for the both of them. Sorry he couldn't stop the murder or the execution. Sorry he wasn't the kind of person who could be trusted with that kind of secret.
"Brother..."
i wouldn't have wanted it any other way
"You're the last person who should be saying sorry," he snapped, rather quietly for his usual noise level. "I won't fucking have it!"
...God. He was still calling him brother. After all that shit he pulled. He thought for sure he would have been more repelled by his conduct and realize he was better off not associating with a dangerous, untrustworthy punk like him. But he was still willing to stick by his side. Unbelievable. Moved by this, and perhaps needing this more than ever, he snuck his own arms around Ishimaru's back and softened up
like butter."I'm the one who's to blame... There's seriously no way you could have done anything to stop me. 'Specially if I couldn't even bring myself tell you what was bothering me to begin with. You couldn't have known. So... cut the crap. I don't want to hear it. It's all on me."
Now last night will forevr be immortalized
Part of him wanted to ask if Mondo would do it again, but that left room to either be lied or for him to just say yes, I would. Ishimaru couldn't take that. Right now he just needed to know that he was alive, and he could feel the warmth in his arms and the movement of his breathing. For now it would do.
Finally he turned his head so his face was no longer hidden, and his normally strong voice sounded pathetically drained and hoarse. Though Ishimaru wasn't exactly the kind of guy who hid his tears, he'd felt nothing like this since the trial itself. He needed to stop thinking about that and about... anything else.
"Ah... How did y-you know... I was in here?"
The real question should have been why were you on top of me in the first place?
you forgot to mention dicks tho

Oh, boy. Where did one even start trying to explain the nature of Final Destination City? Ishimaru himself still didn't understand it after four months of being here, and he'd been the only one from Hope's Peak to not just randomly appear on the school grounds. Trying to explain what he did know was going to take ages.
What time was it, anyway...?
He pulled away from Mondo, wiping at his cheeks with one of the sleeves of his pyjamas. He should probably wash his face properly before going back to bed... as if he'd even be able to sleep again tonight.
"This is Smash Academy. I... can't explain how this place exists, or how anything that happens here is even possible." Ishimaru sniffed and gave a slow shake of the head before continuing. "It isn't even on any map. ...However, it's not Hope's Peak."
He was thankful for that much.
no subject
"And you don't know how this is possible...?" Could he explain ANYTHING then? "But tell me something. I need to know what happened... After I was executed. What did you see?" His voice grew more on edge with each sentence he pushed out.
no subject
"Why... are you asking that...?"
What he saw shouldn't matter to Mondo now. He was better off not knowing that there was next to nothing left, and what was became nothing more than a breakfast spread. The humiliating exposure of his secret during the trial and the over-the-top execution were bad enough, but for even his remains to be desecrated like that...!
Bile stung at the back of Ishimaru's throat, and if he hadn't been too tired out from minutes before, he might have even begun to cry again.

and whapping him in the face with his pompadour. "Just answer me! What did you see?!"no subject
He clutched his head, his words rising in both speed and volume until he was near hysterics again. "What did I see... What- what was there to see!? What do you want me to say?! There was nothing left! He ate you! He ate you!!"

The thought of Monobear consuming him was arguably on the same tier of terrifying as having his gang break up.
Hahaha Cress is one of their neighbours, WE CAN MAKE IT WORK
Speaking about someone's death with them while they were very much alive... it was surreal, but far from the strangest thing that had happened that night.
"Please, just-- just stop asking about it! I don't want to remember that! Please...!"
So that's what his first-person sample was referring to...
"Fine. We'll stop. Guess I should have been more aware of your feelings."
Trigger warning: #execution, #monobear, #butterBut he still had so many questions to ask. How did he end up here, of all places, when he had also died over there? Wasn't it natural to seek answers? There was probably a way to ask about it without referring to his death, which somehow involved... his remains being eaten. Wow, what a thing to shudder about."Still don't have a fucking clue about how the hell I wound up here. And how're you here? Is everyone else here too?"
no subject
He immediately grasped Mondo's hand tightly in both of his own, forcing himself to take some deep breaths until his frame stopped shaking. One day he might be able to talk about what happened just after the execution a little more rationally, but not on an already emotionally-charged night like this. At least it was only in the privacy of his own dorm, in front of the one person he'd already bared his entire soul to before; he knew that if this had happened anywhere else, he would have had to struggle to keep his composure and dignity and remain focused on the tasks at hand... and he likely would have failed.
That wasn't to say he didn't resent himself a little for completely losing it now. Deep breaths. In, out...
They were both here now. That was the important thing.
Whether he was on duty or not, it was still all on him to relay everything he knew to Mondo, as long as it wasn't that. He shut his eyes tightly and fought to banish images of bears and pancakes from his mind, instead trying to picture the other students who were here - or had been here.
"...Enoshima and Ludenberg are both here, too. None of us have any recollection of leaving Hope's Peak. I had woken up in my bed, back home... With an acceptance letter to this school I had no knowledge of."
He paused, furrowing his brow. Should he really say it?
"...Fujisaki had also come here shortly after I did. He was the first of our classmates I met here. Before that, I was so sure it was all just a dream. I'm not sure what to think, now. Is any of this even real? Was any of that?"
no subject
"F-Fujisaki...!" He habitually brought his hand up and furled his fingers like he could grab at air. That meant his hand tightened grip on Ishimaru's shoulder too. "Shit!! Where is he now?!"
no subject
Back to the place that should have produced at least a few news articles about the nation's best and brightest students suddenly disappearing, but no matter how many times Ishimaru checked the internet, nothing came up. Was it just one of the mysteries of this place, or did it mean something more?
"He was here for three months... and he was very much alive, just as you are now."
no subject
He didn't know what to say. Was he glad the murder he committed failed to be murder anymore? Or was he dreading the potential for them to cross paths again? Ishimaru may not have completely abandoned ties with him (which was actually a huge relief, even though he knew he didn't deserve it), but Chihiro was probably terrified of him. And rightly so. Ugh... That meant he remembered...
But he was going back to Japan somehow. You mean they WEREN'T in Japan?!? Well that explains why this place is so freaky weird... A glimmer of hope shone through! It meant he could go home too and finally see what happened to the Crazy Diamonds! It had been bothering him relentlessly, what with that stupid faked video and the threat to have his secrets revealed. "So we can go back!" he cried in all his sparkling revelation. Then...
Why hadn't Ishimaru gone back yet? If he knew he could do it whenever he liked...
"But now something's bugging me. Why haven't you left this place?"

That meant he was attending school here in the first place. But something wasn't adding up! Something glaringly temporal.
"...How long have you been going to school here for?"
no subject
"So, should I have just returned to Hope's Peak?! Or continued going to a private academy my family does not have the money to spare for, knowing that this school that sent a mysterious acceptance letter was asking for nothing?! ...If I weren't here, I would not have seen you again..."
no subject
His brain hurt more than ever. "None of this is making any fucking sense..." he groaned, rubbing at his forehead. "Just wanna sleep forever..."
He may have lost all sense of time, but he could certainly sense what time it was: time to give up hope on trying to understand.
no subject
He exhaled a puff of air that might have been a tired, half-hearted attempt at a chuckle, or maybe even a derisive snort. He couldn't even muster up the panic Mondo's words might have given him earlier at the height of his hysterics. He still didn't like the implications, though.
"...You should get some rest. But you have to promise me that you will wake up."
no subject
He removed a hand from his head and felt around in the dark for Ishimaru, got him around the shoulders, and pulled him down snug next to him. "You know, I haven't been so good at keeping promises. But this seems like a good place to start."
no subject
(Ishimaru hoped he'd be able to wake up in time to get all that laundry started before class.)
He rolled just enough so he could comfortably rest his head on Mondo's chest, content to just listen to his heartbeat and his breathing. All the small noises that confirmed that yes, he was alive.
"I won't let you break any more promises." He spoke softly, giving in to the urge to let his eyes close. "That is my promise to you."
no subject
"Something tells me I can count on someone like you."

The best response he could muster up for now was a pleased hum before he finally drifted into a sleep that was much more peaceful than the last.

Chili did not get any sleep that night. He almost wanted to go find Cress and stay with him, but that would be being a big baby. Besides, he couldn't exactly remember Cress's new room number, and that was also frustrating. And he didn't want to wake Cilan up and have him lose any sleep...
So he'd just lay there all night, trying to sleep. Each time he almost fell asleep, he'd just wake right back up. What a frustrating night. ]

"What kind of a prank is this!" He shouts to the walls.

But something was unsettling about the sensation, as fleeting as it was.
So he decided to do what anyone would do in that situation, and that was to promptly get on his computer and describe in great detail what was going on for his notes.
But that meant he was online and anyone would be able to talk with him.
