amy's kawaii gay best friend huhuhuhu
Who: Shadow the Hedgehog [
obfuskate ] & Amy Rose [
tokimeki ]
What: continuation of this!!
Where: FDC Mall
When: 12/02/12 cuz weekend lmao, idk around noonish?
Warnings: HOT DICKINGS no I'm kidding this'll be tame.
So, what just transpired, exactly?
Shadow honestly can't understand how this blew up so fast. It shouldn't have surprised him, but it did, and frankly, it has left him feeling queasy. Contrary to the phone bill idea, his texting is unlimited, just to be safe. He just isn't sure how to convey what he has to in small messages.
Sonic...
He bites down on his lip, feeling regret swell within him all over again. He wishes he didn't say anything, but it's too late, isn't it? Truth be told, he is afraid, fearing these feelings, whatever they are. Should it be too much of an attachment, more than what he imagined it would be, then he has no idea what he should do. Should he just cut him out of his life and forget they even bonded? Should he keep him around, but tread carefully? Should he... discuss these feelings like Amy suggested?
No. No. He shakes his head furiously, tapping his foot anxiously near the mall's doors. He can't just tell him, "Oh, by the way, I might like us as more than just friends! Isn't that great?!" That is far too idiotic and bold of a move. Unlike Sonic, even unlike Amy, he isn't about to take the more dangerous route.
Amy...
She still wants to be friends with him. Despite her initial reaction and her outburst, she still respects him, even though he can easily get in the way of her getting together with the man she loves. He doesn't want to take that away from her, but then again, it doesn't even seem as if Sonic would approve. If he doesn't, obviously fruition is the last thing that will bloom from Amy's lovesick dreams.
He almost feels bad for her. She is a lot like Maria, albeit more ferocious, more excitable... but she's a dreamer. She's a dreamer just like she is, although it isn't in quite the same way. She helped him bring back those memories of Maria's wish, her natural self bringing out the best in him.
For that reason, he can't help but respect her.
Hurry up, he thinks, grunting pathetically as he kicks at a nearby, discarded can of pop. He couldn't take much more of the suspense. He...
He wants to make amends.
That, in his eyes, is a massive privilege.

Amy's life simultaneously makes no sense and makes all the sense in the world, she feels, and it's terribly confusing, but at the same time she feels that she's not as upset as she could be. Of course she's entertained the possibility of Sonic choosing someone besides her, but until now, the idea that someone could even keep up with him was impossible.
She thinks she should have known, the moment Shadow appeared before him, something inside of him changed. Amy kind of feels the same way, though it's less like two halves converging and more like something happy and warm reuniting.
Amy can only hope she hasn't compromised that happiness, the happiness Shadow brings her, and that much is evident in her face when she finally shows up, phone clutched in her hand, cheeks brightening with breathlessness. The last thing she thinks of as she slows to a stop is that she really is the one who's always been chasing.
"Shadow," she huffs out before straightening, concern weighing on her normally sprightly features. The remorse in her eyes is palpable, even as she pockets her phone and meets his gaze again.
He is totally getting a hug at some point during this conversation.

Shadow can easily the regret resonating from her, the way she treated him affecting her now. Honestly, this normally wouldn't have bothered him, but considering that it is related to a most touchy subject, he was incredibly annoyed. Now, however...
Now he just felt like he'd caused an unnecessary stir and should have kept his mouth shut.
"Rose," he speaks, his breath visible in the cold, autumnal air. His hands are like icicles, feet just as frigid, yet he steps forth, a hand hesitantly reaching for her shoulder and clasping tenderly upon it. It is a silent way of treating her, but it tells her everything he can't possibly put into words. The closest he has is this:
"I apologize. Let us make amends and go... shopping."
Of course, he doesn't say that much. He simply wiggles his olive nose, trying to regain sensation through the chill in the wind, before finally making a verbal move.
"Well? You wanted to go shopping."
That would do.

She isn't sure what she was expecting; his ire, his regret, a declaration of never wanting to see or deal with her ever again perhaps-- something decisive and dramatic and painful. Amy isn't sure what's more surprising, the fact that Shadow really was sincere in all he had said and done in spite of the new revelation of this acute love-triangle (Amy knew her chances were...slim), or that she had even expected anything less in the first place.
He really is kind, she thinks, and it touches her on a profound level that he'd still wish to be her friend and was even willing to go shopping with her like this. What a sweetie! What a bleeding heart! What a wonderful person!
It almost didn't feel like a loss, conceding to someone like him as a love-rival. Not that Amy would give up necessarily, but deep down, she knew she would have a lot of reconciling and thinking about this to do later.
Right now, though--
"Shadow!" she cries out, the worry in her expression dissolving into pink-cheeked joy as she launches herself at the other hedgehog and hugs him for all he's worth. "You're the best!"
It's all she can really think of to say, all that really needs to be said.
Thankfully, she's quick to dislodge, and beams brightly at her new companion. Oh, does she have plans for him!
"Come on, what are we waiting for? We should get Christmas presents!"

Oh goodness, he doesn't expect her to squeeze the living daylights out of him. It's almost like that time on the Metal Harbor in Prison Island, but even worse. Then again, considering she thought he was Sonic, she did hug him pretty closely. Ha... Shadow remembers when she hugged him for the first time, acting so ridiculous and out of line that he couldn't help but grin in amusement. It was pretty funny, frankly, seeing her act as dim-witted as the military itself.
Now, though, as she's holding him, the smile is something far more genuine.
Wait, he's smiling and enjoying it and feeling his arms wrap around her instinctively. WRONG.
"I-I-- hmph." He folds his arms over his chest as soon as she detaches from him, reeling back as if repulsed, yet the aversion of his gaze says otherwise. Don't let him fool anyone here; he actually liked that.
"Fine. Christmas shopping it is."
He glances back over his shoulder towards those large, ornate glass doors, and upon seeing the crowd, his heart drops to his stomach. That's not a sight he likes to find.
"Is the mall always this crowded at this time of year?" Ugh, humans and their swarming for their material things. Such selfish creatures sometimes...

Ah, shopping, the ultimate bloodsport. Just the thought of it got Amy's blood pumping!
"Of course it's always crowded, silly," she finally answers before giving her head a light tilt in the direction they would be taking. "It's the holidays."
Through the doors they go, and even Amy has to suck in a breath at just how many people are in the building.
"Wow, you'd think it was Black Friday with how many people are here...!"
Amy giggles fondly at the memory of fighting her way through that wretched night. There was no point in asking Shadow if he'd ever participated in the bloodbath after Thanksgiving, Amy doubts it severely after all. But still, the thought of him using his colossal power for something like that was pretty interesting.

Except... no, he has to participate in this. By now, he has no choice but to be hauled through crowds by a little pink monster, however reluctantly. He gives a frustrated sigh, namely at the mention of Black Friday along with all of this.
"Black Friday. Whoever thought of that idea," he speaks, a fist rising to his chest and clenching tightly to solidify his point, "should have been strangled. It's needless commercialism turned violent."
He then pauses, glancing to her and raising a single brow. She'd like that, wouldn't she? He really hopes not, but he can already imagine her tearing through the crowds, swinging her Piko Piko Hammer in hopes of obtaining a cute new dress for 70% off.
Oh, sweet Chaos.
Bad, bad, bad.
