Kitty Has A Boo-Boo

Blaze's head was throbbing like someone revved up a jackhammer in her brain. There was a welt on her head she could feel. She had numerous scrapes and scuffs. And she was in the infirmary, and very impatient with herself. She hated feeling helpless, especially like this. And the sooner she could get out, the sooner she could find Sonic and Eggman.

Sonic... Eggman turned him against her. Somehow he was able to force Sonic to do things he didn't want to. Not to mention turned him into a giant hairy beast... But worst of all, her Sol Emerald was gone. After all that work, it was taken from her like that. It made her sick to her stomach, the very thought that she was so weak and helpless to prevent it. She was going to make Eggman pay dearly for what he had done...

But for now she had to rest. Rest, wait, and anticipate...

Blaze was within sight from the window, giving Sonic a clear path to his goal. His approach was with stealth, leaning over her figure in hopes she'd already be awake or maybe wake up without him having to say anything. Hope was a bit of a stretch here, considering he had no idea how she was doing, so with a gentle tap to her shoulder, he whispered.

"Blaze. Wake up." Don't be in a coma or anything!

Her eyes slowly blinked open, and widened when she realized who was there.

She had a mix of emotions going through her. She knew he was her attacker, albeit against his will. She was relieved to see him back to normal though, and that relief is what won out in the end. "Sonic... You're okay..."

[bluestreaker]

Oh, PHEW. What a relief! She was awake!

"I'm okay? Forget about me - what about you? You doin' alright?"

"I've been better," she told him. "Rhys healed most of my injuries, but my head is killing me..."

She looked up at him. "You're back to normal... Does that mean..."

[bluestreaker]

His ears flopped for a moment. That probably said enough for him, but he answered anyway. And with a grin!

"Not yet but y'got nothin' to worry about! Eggman'll get what's comin' to him." He mulled over her injuries again, feet fidgeting. Man, he really did hurt her...

"Blaze - " Ergh. He wasn't very good at apologies. "I'm sorry."

She looked down at her hands. "You have nothing to apologize for," she told him. "You weren't in control. It's Eggman's fault, not yours..." She looked back up at him. "I'm sorry too. I said I would save you... And I failed."

It was then Sonic realized something.

As much as he knew he still had to stay away from people during nightfall, what exactly were they doing? Apologizing to one another with unwarranted guilt, feeling remorse for their momentary loss. Eggman was still here and even if he wasn't, they'd track him down. He knew all that.

As if to obstruct her views of what she believed to be a failure of the worst kind, Sonic pressed his hand down across hers.

"Blaze," he said, voice an airy drift of comfort. "We've got nothin' to be sorry for. Eggman's the one who should be and is gonna be sorry."

After a moment's thought, Blaze turned her hand and squeezed Sonic's. Even now, he was trying to cheer her up... She wished for once she could be in his place to even things out, but all the same, she was grateful for his words and feelings.

"Once I'm out of here... I'm going to help you find him and bring him down. He's gone too far."

[bluestreaker]

"We've got this," Sonic added, giving her hand a return reassuring grip. "I'm gonna make sure he swallows that whistle and all his stupid commands with it."

"And when you do, I'll be there," she promised. "He's going down hard."
