Unbreakable Tie

Who: Eikichi and Pele
What: Someone's found a blue orb.
Where: Smash Academy
When: August 1st
Warnings
: Eikichi deserves his own disclaimer for existing.

What a stroke of luck.

How could someone lose something this magnificent and beautiful? Eikichi held up the blue orb again, toying with the artifact and feeling it balance on his hands. He let the light catch in it with a small grin, already thinking how it could be the centerpiece of his bed or a costume if he so wanted...

But alas, that would not be. He'd bring this to the lost and found soon enough, of course. Despite his talk and thinking, Eikichi had always been a good guy. But Michel wouldn't be himself if he didn't take the time to admire the stone for a few more minutes. Definitely had to belonged to someone, probably washed away during the floor. It reminded him of his own quest, and the water skull that still awaited him in the Scorpion temple.

Maybe once his training at this school was over, he could resume the quest with his friends...or so he hoped.

Ah.

Finally. Her patience was going to pay off. Pele could feel a faint pulse awaken in the very back of her mind, like a faint echo against her own mighty heartbeat. Her time at this strange little school had been for one purpose: to locate and claim the Blue Orb, and now finally its location was made known to her again. The latent power inside the simple sphere had made contact with another's mind and was at last stirring from slumber.

Perhaps that insolent mortal from before - what was his name again? - had finally given way to temptation and taken hold of it. Or maybe someone else had broken in and found the Orb's hiding place. It mattered not. The only thing on her mind now was how to take it from them.

With her two brothers at the school now, it would be unbecoming for her to storm the academy again - after all, one of them alone would be enough to contest her, and against both it be a futile fight. She refused to cooperate with them, and they, most likely, would disapprove of her methods. Thankfully, however, she was more closely tied to the Blue orb than either of the two, and the first move would be hers.

So, wearing her human guise, she approached the school as inconspicuously as a 6'6" tall woman who burned the air around her could possibly hope to. The Orb's signature was faint... but she would stalk the school, through every hall until she found where it lay.

The flutter of pride and narcissism rang faintly from the Orb, drawing Pele's attention. Oh, ego... a thing that led many a man to ruin. She knew it well. It was that very thing that spurred humankind to leash the very forces of nature themselves.

Well, she would teach this mortal a thing of ruin in turn, then.

BAM! There went his door, flying off the hinges and across the room with one swift kick. Pele strode in tall and wrathful, with the air of a conqueror seeking her prize.

So, not a smudge of fear on his face. Courage born of stupidity, audacity, or an indomitable spirit? Pele had no care to speculate. She could see the glint of blue in his palm, calling out to her like a siren's song. Its pulse grew hotter as Eikichi's own anger flared, which only made the need more urgent.

Alas that diplomacy was a thing that eluded her throughout her many, many years. The Groudon snarled, claws tense and ready to rip apart this human if he showed the slightest sign of melding with the Orb. Would she be able to kill him before he took control? It was impossible to say. Normally she would be able to fight its influence, but being so recently weakened by her battle with Kyogre, it was hard to gauge who would have the upper hand.

"Surrender the Orb, and your misfortune will end there. Worse will come to you if you deny me."

"You make demands of a power you cannot know. The Orb is mine by right, and I will send the world into peril should you covet it."

Teeth bared and head held proudly up high, Pele approached the mouthy blue mortal with her claws extended. She was, however, no common sneak thief - far be it for her to swipe the Orb and run. Every motion was slow, but measured with the arrogance of an empress. Her presence itself was moulded into a threat as the Groudon made a particular point for each forceful footstep to shake the floor, rattle the walls. It was like a tiny, localized earthquake in his room, causing anything on the walls and shelves to clatter to the floor.

An unspeakable heat began to fill the room as well, causing the air to shimmer with a sweltering heat. There was no doubt that Pele's fury was the cause, and she wasn't the type to talk anything through, either. A god owed answers to no one, not even when they made things so much simpler. There was simply no way she could trust any human with the Orb in his hand to carry the truth.

There was one universal truth that was held among the legendaries, among the ancients of the Pokemon world, among those that revered the earth and sea. Much of the modern world had, perhaps, forgotten the terrors of those lost centuries - of the floods and drought and the violent shifting of continents that lasted year upon year.

The truth was simply this: Groudon loathed water.

Its very presence was an insult to her. She detested it. Abhorred it. And there was no better way to piss her off than to try and douse her - she had leveled landmasses for less.

Being indoors and away from her element was a severe limitation when she was trying to avoid destroying the building completely. Normally, she would not have hesitated to call up a column of erupting lava into the second floor of the dorms, but with Rayquaza near, that kind of excess would no doubt have been met with reprimand. Well, no matter - whatever conjuror's magic this human wielded would not be enough to sway her.

Pele's eyes flashed a dangerous gold, and her latent markings began to blaze a burning hot blue. The Overheated air around her grew more and more intense until suddenly, every inch of her skin ignited in flames. Even the water pooling at her feet was beginning to bubble and boil.

"IGNORANT CHILD. DESTRUCTION IS NOT A THREAT BORN OF THAT ORB... IT IS A PROMISE. AND FOR THIS AFFRONT, I WILL GLADLY RENDER IT FOR YOU."

Her flaming claws lashed out at Hades, intent on tearing him to shreds - god against god, underworld against earth.
