One might find the stadium a little hot and humid for those used to a spring graduation ceremony. This fine evening the Academy is experiencing its first hints of summer, a warm breeze providing relief to those who would sit on the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. 

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

Oh. Was he. Was he really going to do this? Oh no oh no blushing forever. "Y-yeah..." It was all she could say. She'd danced before, so why was she so embarrassed now?

Sonic looked ahead of himself as he guided his dance partner to the floor. The moment his face was free of her sights, he gave a little panicked expression. Just momentarily! The current song began to drift with each foot step to the beat of its fading life for the next song that would carry in a new mood to the hall.

Sonic turned back to Blaze, both his hands now finding hers, a collected smile upon his face. Okay, this was good so far.

It was then that their song began to play...

... WHAT ARE THESE LYRICS? WHAT IS THIS SONG? WHY IS IT SO -

OKAY. Okay, it was cool. Okay, he could do this. STOP LOOKING NERVOUS. YOU'RE COOLER THAN THIS.

Sonic cleared his throat, attempted to shake the blood puffs off his cheeks, and gave her a look. Yeah, you okay with this? It asked.

That was... not what she expected to happen at all. Not what she was expecting to dance to. But she wasn't going to back down, not now. She looked back at him, swallowed, and nodded.

Alright. She was ready, so he was ready. He was more than ready, because he's Sonic the Hedgehog, okay, he was born ready.

So they were going to DO THIS.

.... So, how do they do this?

Like, where... were his hands supposed to go?

Shoulders? Sounded right.
Hips - WOAH. Wait. Okay, maybe...
Maybe waist. Yeah.

Okay, he'd feel this out. He'd take signals. Signals would do. One hand went for the shoulder, the other for her waist, and he was looking pretty sad. Dear god, Blaze, help this poor soul. He's at the risk of his head turning purple.

Blaze's face reddened. She took Sonic's hands and moved them into position. She could tell right away what the problem was. "Follow my lead," she told him as they started to sway with the music.

[bluestreaker]

Sonic's face was a mirror image of hers. She totally had him pegged.

"Hah! Ya got me! Can't dance to save my life." He looked around, hoping Eggman didn't hear that. He'd come up with something nuts and then they'd have a deadly dance off on their hands. "But, ah, seems you can. Wouldn't have thought."

"I'm a princess," she explained. "It was one of the things I had to learn for protocol's sake," she explained, leading him slowly to get into the rhythm.

[bluestreaker]

Sonic isn't doing too bad under her hand, taking her physical guidance and moving along to its lead. He surmised it was noticeable, so much of his expression looked awkward as he figured out how to move. When it became repetitious and the music had an understanding with their bodies, he seemed to gradually relax.

Still, he was wondering why he tangled himself right into this social stumbling.

Well... He did hate to see her standing alone. She'd had enough of that for a lifetime, hadn't she?

"Looks like learning protocol came in handy, then!" He was starting to really get into it now, finding himself wanting to move more to the faster pace within song than the slower one. "This is pretty fun!"

"I guess it did," she said quietly. She warmed up to it a little slower than Sonic did, but she did gradually relax and start to get into it. She was still self-conscious, but perhaps being there with a friend was making it a little easier for her. "Yeah... Yeah, it is," she replied finally.
