So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits, I hope you have found a friend

Who: Whoever!
What: GRADUMACATION AND PROMS
When: The evening of June 2nd
Where: Das Stadium
Warnings: WHO KNOWS

One might find the stadium a little hot and humid for those used to a spring graduation ceremony. This fine evening the Academy is experiencing its first hints of summer, a warm breeze providing relief to those who would sit on the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location.

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

DON'T FORGET THE COOL DUDES ON PAGE 2!

The mercenary wasn't entirely sure what this punch stuff was. As far as he knew, punch was something you did to someone's face when they ticked you off. This was not punch. Unless you had to punch someone to get it, and given Byrne's easy retrieval, that was clearly not the case. It was just a drink with a bad name.

And apparently was very disgusting. Navarre frowned at Byrne's reaction. "How disappointing," he commented. "Looks like this 'party' is gonna be dull."
dothelokomotion: (Yow)

[personal profile] dothelokomotion 2012-06-07 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Byrne nodded in response. He was tempted to toss the glass of punch on the ground, but littering and covering the floor in sticky sugar wasn't the answer. Instead, he held it in his metallic gauntlet, waiting until those sharp fingers ended up puncturing the thin plastic of the cup.

Then again, he really didn't feel like getting sticky syrupy stuff all over the freshly-polished metal. So he simply sighed and chugged the rest of it.

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-07 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Navarre reasoned this punch must be like drinking grog: chug it down else you might throw up. Usually with grog, it was a sign of strength. This punch did not look like a sign of strength, and was probably more along the lines of wussy drinks that tasted terrible. Nobility drinks.

He frowned again, refolding his arms, staring back at something. "How long do these 'parties' last?"
dothelokomotion: (idk man)

[personal profile] dothelokomotion 2012-06-08 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Byrne shrugged in response. He had only been to the masquerade, but he figured this one would be different.

"The masquerade ended shortly after midnight. I have a feeling this one will be longer."

He didn't know what time it was right then. All he knew was that the minutes were dragging so slowly, with this god-awful music hurting his sensitive ears.
justamercenaryman: (whatever)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-08 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Navarre frowned sharply, even moreso than before. "This is going to be a long night." This music was an ear-sore. To frufru for him. To loud too. And the decorations. Blah.

"There must be something interesting about this," Navarre added. He hated being bored and right now, he was bored out of his skull.

The only interesting parts of the masquerade were sneaking off with Nabooru, and then his mini-spar with Pele. But he was in cognito then. He couldn't do anything like that here. While his conversation with Navarre may have been the most interesting part of this night, it wasn't enough to salvage this evening.

"Hmm," he pondered aloud, trying to think of something to do. Byrne wasn't a prankster of any sort. In fact, he thought pranking was pretty low and stupid. On Halloween, he had found his room covered in filth like silly string and eggs, and if he ever figured out who did it, he would violently injure them.

"I could run to my room, grab a flask, and spike that punch. That would prove interesting."
justamercenaryman: (bishounen wind)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-08 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"It would," Navarre agreed. It would make things more interesting, then again, Navarre liked much of what he drank spiked anyway. He was a mercenary, not some pansy ass.

So, Byrne nodded and left the room, deciding to head back to his dorm. And by tag magic, he appeared again at the dance fifteen minutes later with a flask concealed within his clothing.

He stood by the punch bowl and watched, carefully observing any students or teachers who happened by it. When his coast was clear, he discreetly dumped the contents of the flask into the sugary drink.

Upon standing back next to Navarre, he told him, "There. It is done."

Navarre folded his arms, waiting. As boring as it was, waiting was something he was good at. He simply leaned against the wall and stared, waiting for something to happen.

Unfortunately the last fifteen minutes proved to be incredibly boring. Not even the hint of a fight arose.

At least Byrne didn't take too long to retrieve the alcohol and spike the punch. "Let's see how much of a punch this punch has."

Byrne ended up taking another cup of punch for himself. It still tasted rancid, though the added alcohol made it more tolerable. It wasn't as horrible as that trashcan punch he had at the beginning of September last year, but a good drink is something he needed to tolerate this party.

"It still tastes terrible," he commented, "But a drink is a drink."

So he stood and watched as students hopefully consumed said punch with hilarious results.

Navarre could only hope for some form of amusement. Daringly, he acquired a cup of punch for himself, swirling the brightly colored liquid around in the plastic cup. What an odd cup it was. It hardly seemed durable, bending at his grip.

Even with the comments with how bad it was, there was some sort of temptation to drink it, just to see how it was and make a manly statement (though anything compared to grog was generally good). "Here goes nothing," he commented aloud, downing the cup of punch like a shot glass. Oh gods was this a horrible concoction, and the disgust showed as his face twisted into a horrified knot. At least it had a good kick to it as the alcohol left a bit of a sharp burn on the way down.

[ ooc: thread hop or stay here? ]

Byrne did end up smirking at Navarre's reaction. He could sympathize. Why did they always serve the most disgusting concoctions at the parties in this school? Did the kids like this stuff or something?

[ooc: Hmm I guess we can threadhop, or wait until someone tags the other thread.]
justamercenaryman: (annoyed 2)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-12 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Navarre crushed the cup in his hands. "How do people drink this crap?" For fun, even. He had always thought parties would have some frufru fruity drinks or at least some good wine, but this punch stuff was absolutely horrid.

[ either or. or both XD ]
dothelokomotion: (I'm not amused)

[personal profile] dothelokomotion 2012-06-12 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Children," he emphasized, "Seem to have a taste for sugar. Even if there's no other substance."

Byrne enjoyed sweet things in moderation, like White Russians or maybe the occasional margarita, but this was just terrible.

"It's a shame there seems to be nothing else here to drink."
justamercenaryman: (killing edge sword)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-12 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pity," Navarre frowned even more. "They should have things that make them stronger, not useless crap." Navarre had a bit of a weak spot for his younger students (not so much the older ones). He didn't like seeing kids on the battlefield, but there wasn't much of a say in that when it came to battle and war. They had to learn sometime, and better learning now than dying later on the war front.
dothelokomotion: (Bleh)

[personal profile] dothelokomotion 2012-06-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Byrne nodded. Drinks like this would only hinder children. No nutrition, no alcohol. Although, he knew children shouldn't consume alcohol due to their systems being unable to process a lot of it. However, it made it funnier in spiking the punch bowl.

Byrne perhaps might have had a soft spot buried deep in his core for young children, but they often annoyed him. But he did find himself less angered by their innocence.
justamercenaryman: (annoyed)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-13 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Navarre had learned to drink at a young age, but then again, growing up in a band of mercenaries, it was almost expected. Following convention wasn't always his way of doing things--- except here, when the hands got angry and told him to do stuff. Like attend this stupid ball. Pansy ass ball.

He shifted his weight a bit, staring out in the crowd again. The music really was god-awful. "They need better music. My ears are gonna fall off."
dothelokomotion: (Don't fuck with me.)

[personal profile] dothelokomotion 2012-06-14 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that was another thing he hated. The music was generic pop, probably produced by a computer of some sort. Nothing pure or engaging. Just loud, horrible beats straining his sensitive ears. The decibel level was very high, but fortunately they weren't too close to the speakers.

"It's up there on my list of unpleasant things I've heard," he agreed.
justamercenaryman: (antisocial)

[personal profile] justamercenaryman 2012-06-14 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Close to speakers or not, Navarre was already highly irritated with it. He was about ready to blow this popsicle stand. He would rather threaten the musicians to play something different. Well, if he could actually find them. All this new technology was completely and utterly foreign and inconceivable. Marth seemed to be adjusting just fine, but he was a highly-educated pansy ass noble (even if Navarre did hold some sort of respect for the kid).

"How can anyone listen to this junk?" Or even dance to it?
