So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits, I hope you have found a friend

Who: Whoever!
What: GRADUMACATION AND PROMS
When: The evening of June 2nd
Where: Das Stadium
Warnings: WHO KNOWS

One might find the stadium a little hot and humid for those used to a spring graduation ceremony. This fine evening the Academy is experiencing its first hints of summer, a warm breeze providing relief to those who would sit on the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location.

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

DON'T FORGET THE COOL DUDES ON PAGE 2!

When Phoenix heard the feminine voice, he turned and saw the woman in the beautiful dress.

"Oh! Hello Manah," he greeted, glancing up and down to study her outfit. "You look... nice," he managed to say.

He realized that she had asked a question, though, so he decided to oblige and give her an answer. "Oh, uh... As far as I know, there's only a couple dances a year. This one, and... one at Halloween."

She smiled in return. "Thank you, I suppose. It's hardly ready for battle but the shop told me this was appropriate for prom." Whatever prom was. Then again, she didn't have to worry as much about being attacked here, like at home. Here she was just a guidance councellor with a few mental problems and a very thick British accent.

"Halloween," she repeated. "Is that a holiday?"
thewrightidea: (Hmmmm)

Right, Manah wasn't American. Although that British accent had fooled Phoenix into thinking that she still celebrated the more common American holidays like Christmas and Halloween.

"Oh, yeah, it's a holiday at the end of October... Basically, you dress in costumes and put up 'scary'"-- he put this word in air-quotes --"decorations like ghosts and bats..."

It sounded really silly the way he described it, actually. It was pretty silly, but it was fun. Phoenix had many fond memories of trick-or-treating from his childhood, and even taking Pearl out for a couple trips with Maya.

Manah tilted her head a bit. "Why would you put up ghosts and bats? how would you catch them?" Dressing in costumes was one thing, but catching bats and ghosts? That sounded outright ridiculous. But it was just another strange tradition she'd have to learn, it seemed.
thewrightidea: (Aw you guys are too much)

"O-oh, no, you don't put the actual bats up... I mean, like construction paper cutouts of bat drawings or something."

He laughed nervously, both at this woman's naivety about the situation, and how silly the whole thing was. It really did sound silly. He imagined just how strange this would sound to someone unfamiliar with the holiday,

"How unusual," Manah pondered aloud. There were some things she just didn't understand, and holidays fell into that category. She just didn't see a point to hanging bats up, but surely there was a reason behind it. Or something. Who knew.

"It really is, kind of," he laughed.

"Apparently it dates back to an old holiday called All Hallow's Eve, where people celebrated the dead or something..." He tried to think, although his knowledge of that holiday was extremely limited. Limited to the movie "Hocus Pocus" actually.

"Although it's kind of a strange way to honor the dead," he added, "Which is probably why not many people remember its origin anymore."

"Honor the dead....." Another strange thing. People died all the time. She'd caused a lot of death herself, both as the cult leader then later as a revolutionary trying to save the world. The most anyone did was get revenge.

"These holidays are really odd." Valentine's Day was just as weird. Hearts? Babies shooting people? (well at least they weren't the gods in their giant 10ft baby form, then again, who knew?) Yeah, weird. Very weird.

Phoenix couldn't help but laugh. Manah seemed so innocent, and it was kind of adorable. He had no idea at the moment that Manah had killed others, and it honestly didn't occur to him at the moment.

"Yeah, a lot of them really are when you think about it. I mean, most of it is just an excuse to have some fun."

Manah hadn't had a reason to speak her past. There were those who knew, people from her world who knew her as a child. Even one she'd stabbed was here. But that was another story altogether.

"That sounds like a good idea." Celebrations were much happier to think about.
