So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits, I hope you have found a friend
Who: Whoever!
What: GRADUMACATION AND PROMS
When: The evening of June 2nd
Where: Das Stadium
Warnings: WHO KNOWS
One might find the stadium a little hot and humid for those used to a spring graduation ceremony. This fine evening the Academy is experiencing its first hints of summer, a warm breeze providing relief to those who would sit on the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

-------
HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.
HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.
Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

hi eli
"So, uh... you want some punch or something?"
Yep. This was a good night.
how are you sweetiepie
just fabulous honeybunch
"Nah, I don't want any. Just... wanted to see if you wanted some."
good, good.
"Can I tell you something?" she asked, breaking her stare and letting her eyes wander.
no subject
"Yeah, sure," he said nervously.
no subject
"I think we're finished," she said, speaking firmly.
It had been something she'd been stewing on for a while. Since Majima left, really. She had assumed he would be back, but it seemed like he'd all but disappeared entirely. And there really wasn't a point to faking a relationship for someone who wasn't even around.
no subject
BUT COME ON.
"What? You're gonna dump me at prom?"
He said this with agitation in his voice, trying not to fly off the handle in his defensiveness.
no subject
"Does it matter where I decide to?" she asked, laying on her most condescending tone rather thick. She flicked her forked tongue irritably.
no subject
He would welcome the break-up probably in a little bit, but at the moment, it was hurtful. He thought a girl had liked him, had wanted to be with him. Even if she treated him poorly, he still held on to the fact that she wanted to be with him, that she had asked him out. And now that was gone. He was upset and hurt and it would manifest as anger.
"Well, yeah, it kinda does!" he said, raising his voice. "You could've at least given me a damn warning before I asked you to this dance! You could've said no!"
no subject
"I just decided," she explains, sounding surprisingly calm given her furious expression. "Just now. There wasn't any warning to be given."
Although, to be fair, Eli had never really been into Kanji. He talked himself up like he was tough shit, went down without much of a fight, and that sort of thing drove her nuts. If Kanji were wise- particularly if he believed what Vinnie had told him- he might have had an inkling that Eli was just using him. Or just plain disinterested.
no subject
"So why the hell did you ask me out anyway? You needed some chump to beat up on or something?"
He didn't want to bring up Eli's stint with Vinnie's sister. At least not yet. But that lingered in the back of his mind, enhancing his anger.
no subject
Granted, she could have asked Jon. But Eli respected Jon too much to use him.
no subject
"You needed a date for what?!" he snapped. He somehow doubted he was the only person available. Or else he was the only man she was able to best in battle. Did it all come to that fateful day when he was embarrassed in front of several people, left with miserable pain where it counted?
no subject
"For Valentine's Day, jackass."
Fuck, had they really been "dating" for that long? Eli bit her tongue at the reminder.
"I don't make friends. You were my only option."
no subject
Why were they even arguing about this? Right, Kanji needed answers. What the hell was her motivation for this relationship when she had treated him so poorly?
Hell, if he hadn't been feeling so damned insecure and caught off-guard, he wouldn't have accepted her invitation for a date that day. But he did, and they were in a strange, twisted relationship until this night.
no subject
Before Kanji was given the chance to answer her, Eli hissed at him again, "We're breaking up. You're not going to change my mind."
Honestly, she had expected Kanji to be a bit more open to this than he was being. The two of them weren't exactly the most compatible couple. They bickered often, the sex certainly hadn't been anything to brag about, and things since then had been increasingly awkward, distracted, and a bit strained. And, frankly, Eli didn't like Kanji. And she didn't really make an effort to act like she liked him, either.
Maybe it was just the venue. She mentally rolled her eyes.
no subject
"Yeah, actually, it is my damned business. I was your god damned boyfriend, and I have a right to know why you were intent on going out with me," he snapped.
He was getting more and more frustrated, more likely to blow up and cause a scene at this party. Why did this have to come to a head here? Couldn't it be in the sanctity of a private area? That didn't matter to him, though, except that the whole thing was just making him feel even more embarrassed.
no subject
"Going on a date with me doesn't give you a fucking right to know anything about me," she hissed back, taking a step closer to him. Eli held her head up, looked down at him, and sneered, revealing her fangs.
She was most definitely threatening you, Kanji.
no subject
"And you've been a shitty girlfriend! Cheating on me, treating me like shit... God! Yeah, I have the right to know why you wanted to go out with me when you treated me like that!"
So now his negative feelings toward Eli were coming to a head. Everything he disliked about the relationship were things he tried to ignore before in convincing himself, "Hey someone likes me enough to want to be with me!" But it was stupid. He knew so little about her.
People who are truly compatible should be open with one another. He thought of Yu-senpai and what he had learned by being his friend. It was because they were open with each other that Kanji was able to better himself, was able to accept himself... And Yu accepted him. As did the rest of the Investigation Team.
So this whole situation just made him angrier, realizing what he subjected himself to by dating Eli.
no subject
"You don't deserve anything you haven't earned, you fuck. You were a pretty shitty boyfriend yourself," she called back, her eyes widening.
For saying she had cheated. For telling her she was 'shitty' at anything; even something she hadn't really put any effort into. For implying-- in her mind-- a lack of respect for her, even after she had clearly bested him where it mattered. That certainly deserved a punch in the teeth. Didn't it?
Well. Whether it was deserved or not, it certainly happened. Without warning, Eli reeled back and aimed her fist towards Kanji's stupid face.
no subject
The fist landed against Kanji's nose as he turned his head in an instinctive attempt at protecting himself. There was a crack as he felt the sensitive parts of his nose damaged, and blood came rushing out, dripping down his face and staining the top of his clean white shirt.
"You know," he said quietly, his voice gradually rising in volume with each word, "You're a stupid little bitch."
He wanted to wreck her after that, after how she used him and how she violently assaulted him right here in public. He would have too, if this had taken place before the murders in Inaba. But he thought of Yu-Senpai and Naoto. What had they taught him? He could be the better person.
What was being a man? Did it mean acting tough and stereotypically masculine? Maybe. But... maybe Kanji should be a person first. A good person. He didn't have to put up with this bullshit. Sure, his inner rage wanted to break every bone in her ugly, weirdly-tattooed body for hurting him not just now, but for these past few months. For making him believe that someone actually cared for him like that. But... that wasn't even her fault. It was his own fault for being too blind to see.
"I'm too damned good for you, that's what. You're a frickin' loser who needs to constantly be so tough. Yeah well, that ain't what 'toughness' really is. It's more than bein' strong and having weird snake skin. And if you had any semblance of a heart, maybe you'd realize that, Eli."
Where did this speech even come from? It wasn't even fully directed at Eli. It was directed at himself, since seeing Eli was almost like looking in a mirror at how he once was. He knew so little about her, but he knew that she was constantly trying to prove herself to be manly and tough. Just like he was.
Kanji knew what his issues were, and while he acknowledged them, that was only half the battle. He had to conquer them. And maybe by conquering Eli, the shadow of his past self
with his penis, it would help him grow."So you know what? Fuck you."
no subject
Her smirk was quickly wiped from her face as soon as Kanji had the nerve to reply. That hauntingly wild look returned to her eye and she scowled, fangs bared. Perhaps he should have known better than to provoke an already-agitated snake. She'd heard this sort of speech before; she was missing the element of heart in the way she conducted herself. Without that, she'd never be as tough as she wanted to be. Blah blah blah, bullshit bullshit bullshit.
"You're the one who isn't good enough for me, you ignorant little shit," she spat. She could taste the venom quickly beginning to coat her mouth as she hissed at him. "I'm tougher than you'll ever be. I beat you to the fucking ground. Don't you fucking forget that."
To emphasize her point, she hit him again. She threw herself at him, aiming her fist at his gut. This time, she got herself close enough to sink her teeth into his shoulder. She bit hard and as deep as she could before quickly pulling away again.
He was the loser, Eli told herself. She hit him and he didn't bother fighting back. Eli had lost nothing. In a final fit of rage, she spit at his feet, punctuating her clear win.
"Now go fuck yourself!"
no subject
He tried to sidestep out of the way, but the punch still connected with the side of his abdomen. The pain of the blow caused him to bend with the punch in response, jutting his torso forward, and then he felt the sharp teeth sink into his skin. But the pain from that wasn't just from the sharpness of her fangs; there was something else; venom.
He still stood up, adrenaline fueling his strength, but he refrained from hitting back. He just glared as the girl spit at his feet, further insulting him. He still wanted to strangle her, but he couldn't. He knew that it wouldn't solve anything. Besides... that venom. He had to get to the infirmary.
no subject
He was weak. Eli had won. She felt sick with herself, but also wildly victorious and proud of the damage she'd dealt.
Kanji was headed for the infirmary-- or at least she figured he would be, as long as he wasn't a complete and utter idiot. Eli briefly turned the idea of Vianca treating Kanji's wound over in her head, and that just increased both of her overwhelming opinions of herself at the moment. She rolled the tension from her shoulders and made her hasty exit from the stupid dance.
