Who: Char, Marie, Vinnie
What: A log full of punchings
Where: An unused classroom
When: Friday, March 23
Warnings: Violence and vomit.

Marie was a marked man. ...Boy. Manbaby. Okay, last week hadn't been kind to Char, but that was no reason to let his threats be empty ones. That little tit had messed with Bulba, and as long as Char's around, you don't mess with Bulba. Simple as that.

Classes had let out for the day. There hadn't been much hope of cornering Marie during class hours, and getting the kid on his own after the school day was done with had proven tricky, considering how Marie hadn't exactly been seeking Char out. This was gonna hafta be the best time to get it done -- that narrow little window of opportunity between Marie being safely in class and over in Sonny and Vinnie's dorm. He had his back against the door of a classroom that had been empty and unused for a while now, keeping a close eye on the crowd of departing students for any sign of his intended victim.

At this point, Marie figured Char had either forgotten about finding him and punching him- which he determined was unlikely- or that Char had never intended on finding him in the first place and was just blowing smoke to make himself look cool. He figured this. But he was still living out of Sonny and Vinnie's dorm. You know. Just in case. He skipped swimming, too, and mostly tried to avoid empty hallways.

He'd lagged behind the sizable wave of students exiting the classroom so he could debate asking the teacher a question and then ultimately chicken out. He shuffled out of the classroom alone and began his now-usual beeline for the dorms.

HAHA... AS IF MARIE HAD ANY FRIENDS.

Marie jumped. Mostly because he thought he was alone and he really wasn't expecting someone to walk right in front of him. Next, a look of panic quickly washed over the Squirtle's face. At that moment, it dawned on him that this was definitely a thing that was actually going to happen.

Without saying anything, Marie tried to regain enough composure to frown and walk in the opposite direction. He pulled his hood up over his head and hoped Char would just leave him be. Really, he knew that it was a completely useless wish and he was about 10 seconds from getting punched in the head. Or something along those lines.

Despite the type advantage, Marie's more-sensitive human skin wasn't entirely resistant to fire and the threat of the Charizard's tailtip burned a little in addition to successfully intimidating him.

He weighed his options as he let himself get dragged into the empty classroom. Not like he hadn't done so already. After his talk with Sasha at the mall, he'd decided he was definitely going to stand his ground and fight back. Defend his sister's honor and all that. But the hollow, nagging anxiety at the pit of his stomach reminded him that he still lacked an Everstone. Marie was at the point level-wise where any fight could end with him possibly evolving. And if Char really roughed him up, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to bite it back this time.

What would Red say if he came back to a Wartortle...?

Marie tried something that he wasn't sure would work. As soon as the two of them were in the classroom, he turned and spit scalding water in Char's face. A not-so-gentle reminder that he had an advantage. Maybe that would be enough to get the Charizard to leave him alone.

Although Marie refused to look at Char, he could tell he was still smiling. He could feel it in his words. His plan to intimidate the Charizard had unsurprisingly fallen flat and Marie was back to two options; take the risk and fight back, or just sit there and let Char beat the stuffing out of him.

This had to be one of the stupidest decisions Marie would make, and he knew that, too. He recoiled from Char's move appropriately, whimpering just a little. If he were a bit bolder he might have smugly recycled Char's line, but he didn't want to give the Charizard an excuse to hit harder.

Instead, he stood up straight again. He didn't move, say anything, or look at Char. Just waited for the next hit. This really sucked.

There was a strangled half-yelp half-grunt to follow up all three of Char's punches. By the third one, Marie was already biting back tears. His face had been successfully bloodied and the electricity Char had carried in his fists made Marie's muscles tense painfully. He lifted his head weakly, which was throbbing uncomfortably.

Up against the wall, he writhed awkwardly- the effects of the Thunderpunch still lingering- and watched Char transform through bleary eyes. His eyes momentarily drifted to the bandage on the Charizard's shoulder, but he really didn't care enough to think about the how or why behind it.

"What're you..." he managed to mumble with a mouth full of blood and drool, before trailing off.

Up until that point, he had been determined not to cry. It was bad enough that Marie was destroying Sasha's pride- knowing full well he had made a choice to- the least he could do would be to not take this crying on the floor.

That was a difficult thing to do, however, when there were sharp claws digging an unbearably painful path down his chest. Marie screamed through gritted teeth and squeezed his eyes shut as tight as he could. He'd given it a good effort, but there was no stopping the tears that rolled down his cheeks just before they were slashed as well.

The fresh wounds Char inflicted stung like hell and Marie had been completely distracted by that in the brief pause between being clawed at and being bitten. He wriggled violently against Char's teeth (possibly not the wisest decision) and screamed again, almost managing to sound out the word "stop."

He hit the floor panting, choking on his own blood and the ridiculous amount of saliva in his mouth. Marie hoped this meant Char was finished and would leave him to bleed out and die or something.

Vinnie had very quickly familiarized himself with Marie's class schedule simply by virtue of his little brother scooting to hide in his dorm every single day for the past few weeks. So when the Squirtle was late this particular Thursday, he began to get a little concerned. There was always the chance that he was just staying after class or with a friend... well, okay. That wasn't very likely. Time to worry now.

He was pretty sure he had an idea of where his little brother's last classroom was, so the Venusaur bee-lined for that direction. Seeing the hallways already so empty only made him even more anxious for Marie's safety. Brisk walking turned into a jog, then jogging into running.

And when he heard screams, Vinnie began to sprint. Heart in his throat, not even thinking, there was a pop! as his Venusaur form burst through the classroom door, rendering it into glorified splinters.

For a brief second- after wiping blood and tears from his eyes and seeing Vinnie in the doorway- Marie wished Vinnie hadn't come at all. It was so unbearably embarrassing to have to be rescued that he defaulted to half-wishing he was dead instead.

A little loopy from the pain that was demanding the majority of his attention, he didn't register exactly what was coming out of Char's mouth at first. He weakly kicked himself further out of the way when he realized that was definitely fire. There was a poor attempt at countering with Water Gun, but he just ended spitting water all over himself.

With the full force of a flamethrower coming his way, Vinnie went pop! again and shifted back into a smaller target. The momentum of his charge was still propelling him forward, and he tucked into a roll to dodge the worst of the attack. The fire still grazed his back, but the rage boiling inside him at this point felt far hotter. There was no room right now for fear or pain or hesitation to preoccupy him - all he wanted right now was to teach Char what it felt like to burn.

Vinnie stopped short right before the Charizard to spew out a purple liquid at his body - but notably, unlike the thick, slurry consistency of Sludge Bomb, this poison was thinner, evaporated almost immediately on contact. The thick, Toxic clouds began to engulf Char and the air he probably would've liked to breathe. It smelled less like noxious sewage, more like an intense, nose-curdling acid - and even the smallest intake of breath was deadly.

Vinnie was too close quarters to dodge the Air Slash at all, and it hit him head on. The sheer force of the wind, coupled with the Type weakness sent him flying backwards with a pained yell that caught in his throat. The Venusaur skidded across the ground, through the debris that used to be a classroom door, and hit the wall.

Groaning, Vinnie forced himself off the floor the first moment he could, with one hand clutching the wound this invisible blade had dealt him. The bruises were blossoming immediately, but by sheer proximity the attack actually managed to draw blood as well.

No time to fully catch his breath. The longer he took to recover, the more openings Char had to deal in another attack. Still wheezing a little, Vinnie forced his focus onto the poison seething in his veins. A purple, almost electric glow began to surround both combatants - benign at first, until this flickering energy shot a jolt of pain into the Charizard's poisoned body.

That was the feeling of your entire system being compromised. When every cell in your body betrayed you simultaneously in a chain explosion that the naked eye could not see. It felt like organs boiling, it felt like flesh dissolving, it felt like every illness in the world packaged up into one lovely bundle of agony.

Char plowed into Vinnie, knocking him over. He landed hard on his back right where the Charizard's flamethrower had singed him. As superficial as the burn was, his scar tissue was inevitably more sensitive than the rest of him, and the pain was enough to force him to flinch in pain. "Graaah!"

He could feel the heat of the furnace in Char's mouth, and as a reflex, Toxic liquid was beginning to pool in his own as well. Too focused on struggling to defend against this direct attack, he let it dribble down his chin where it evaporated in trails of purple vapour. He breathed these poisonous clouds without any ill effect, though, which couldn't be said of most other Pokemon Types.

Damned if he was going to let Char take a chunk out of him. Vinnie lashed back, trying to grab the other Pokemon by the throat - anything to keep his own from being on the receiving end of those Fire Fangs.

The Venusaur bit down another scream as the tailfire burned into his right arm. The pain of it was visibly etched into his face, but pulling away would've invited even more - potentially a point-blank flamethrower to the face's worth.

But did Vinnie actually have the nerve to try and suffocate him? Looking into the Charizard's eyes, the answer was no. It wasn't as though the Venusaur was above it - he'd been in a fight for his life before, against a monster who very honestly deserved death - but even in the midst of his rage right now, he knew this was not kill or be killed. This was a battle of dominance and retribution.

If Char was taking his time torturing him with that open blaze, then that let Vinnie summon the focus he needed for another Venoshock. The Charizard's tailflame had dipped considerably the last time, and Vinnie needed him incapacitated enough to break free of being pinned. Purple light surrounded them both again, and at this proximity the sparks flickered between their bodies like actual electricity.

Fuckin' finally. Without hesitation, Vinnie seized the opportunity to roll himself out from underneath the Charizard, freeing his throat. The burn that had been overtaking his right arm was beginning to make it weak, useless. Instead, with his left he grabbed a fistful of Char's hair instead - those convenient tuffs sticking upwards on the back of his head.

Had to make this count while his opponent was still helpless. The unwillingness he felt while gripping Char's throat was entirely gone, and all he could see now was Marie's bloodied body, his clawed face lying at the edge of his vision. An eye for an eye, then.

Vinnie pinned Char's wings with his legs and then, repeatedly, began smashing his face against the hard, linoleum floor.

The sudden change in mass and weight was definitely enough to throw Vinnie off. Whereas a humanoid Char was smaller and easier to pin, an actual Charizard was something that Vinnie did not want to be anywhere near. Savour that brief oh shit look on his face, Char. Too preoccupied with the heat emanating from behind the dragon's fangs, the swipe to his head caught him completely unaware.

That long, muscular tail very easily smacked Vinnie halfway across the room, leaving him a burn across the temple and the smell of singed hair. At this point, he wasn't sure if it made a difference which form he took. His Pokemon form had the benefit of taking hits better by virtue of tougher skin, but maneuvering as a quadruped with a badly burned foreleg was possibly even more difficult to work with. At least in human form he could still move without a limp. Better to try and avoid damage than soak it up.

His right arm hung limply at his side as Vinnie struggled to get back on his feet as quickly as he could. It had to be either a Flamethrower or Air Slash coming his way - right now, the most he could do was try to anticipate it.
