Trying to overcome my fear of water! Will this date end in a disaster?
Who: Neris and Otacon
What: A date by the lake where the Kraken might be this will not end in a disaster at all.
When: April 20th
Warnings: DROWNING.
Hal Emmerich had a terrible history with bodies of water. They terrified him unless they were confined in small spaces such as evening showers. The family swimming pool had once claimed the life of his father and nearly his step-sister. That history had forever tarnished his outview on life in colors of grey, and he blamed himself fully for the incident, never to see swimming as a recreational sport since then. If only she had not...if only he had not...
It made loving someone hard again, yet, bit by bit, Neris had at the very least managed to make Otacon a tiny bit braver. Perhaps not big enough to move entire hills but as he now stared at the fragile boat, holding out store-bought cookies, drinks and snacks, he began to wonder just what had pushed him to select a date like this.
Oh right. It was romantic. He wanted to do something romantic. Lakes and boats were very romantic, right? Alright. Deep breath. This was going to be fine. This was going to be fine...

She arrived at the lake in a light skip, a basket filled with sandwiches in her arm as she did.
This was going to be the best date ever!
When she arrived, she immediately hurried over to where Otacon was waiting.
"Sorry, Otacon! I hope you didn't wait for too long!" She said with a bright smile as she skipped up to where the other stood.

Well uh duuuuh. He looked over at the boat somewhat nervously, watching it rock on the waves. "You'll be fine on a boat, right?" Oh Otacon, if only you knew.
no subject
"Yes! Oh I'm so excited!" Neris practically squealed from the excitement. Doing things like a human would do! Oh boy! She took a look at the boat slightly rocking back and forth. "Oh gosh, but it looks so unstable to be on..."

But as soon as they got closer to the boat, Neris became a bit nervous herself.
How did one get on boats? With it rocking so much, they would have to get on very carefully... What if it toppled over before they could even settle down?
no subject
"I-I promise you won't fall over!"
Promises, promises, Otacon.
no subject
Not that there was much to worry about. It was just water below them!

"Uhhh..I'm sorry. This might be harder than I thought..." He held his breath and then pushed again. It moved! ...a little too fast. He quickly stopped it before the boat left without him, both his feet soaking into the water. Great job, Otacon.
Sheepishly, he pulled himself in making sure not to make the boat wobble too much, and used a paddle to push them away from the shore.
"S-sorry about that..."
no subject
Legs... Now that she thought about it, Otacon had not seen her with her mermaid tail, nor did she ever tell him about it. Seeing how much of a timid man he was, she was sure he was going to freak out if she fell into the water and came out with a tail instead of legs.
"Ah... It's alright." Neris replied with a small smile, doing her best to hide her nervousness. She was going to enjoy this moment as much as she could. As the boat started to move forward and out towards the center of the lake, Neris gazed down at the water to see tiny fishes swim by and smiled down at them.

"W-well," he began, coughing. "Here we are." He looked around at the scenery. It really was a tiny little paradise in early spring. He could even see the birds making nests in the middle of the trees, as the leaves were slowly pushing out.
"What do you think?"
no subject
"It's so pretty! All the flowers in bloom and the birds and animals remind me of home, in a weird way!" Only because her home was under the sea, not in the forests like some of her fairy friends back in Popples. She blinked a few times before giggling sheepishly. "...Well my home has a lot of sea life, but the scenery gives me the same kind of feeling."
no subject
"I'm sure they'll be delicious!" he said with a grin, his eyes dotting at what was inside and...not being completely sure, honestly. Oh well. Neris had made it for him! Truly a man could never complain when someone as pretty and cute as Neris took the time to make food and oh gosh, hands on the sandwich Otacon, at this rate you'd be making a complete fool of yourself.

"Wait...is that Snake coming out of the water?!"NEVER JOKE WITH THE ONES WHO HAVE COLD MEDICINE
Yes. Yes it was.
And he was climbing into the boat.
no subject
"Snake? Snake! What are you doing here?" Otacon questioned in a questionable voice that questioned his reason for being there.no subject
"Well, uh..." What was he doing there? It was extremely questionable. He questionably welcomed himself aboard. "Hey, nice sandwich," he pointed out.no subject
"Oh thank you Snake! Neris made it for me."
He brought the sandwish a little closer to himself, in order to protect the girlfriend sandwich.
no subject
"Oh," Snake looked at Neris with the saddest eyes (as if he would never see her alive again). "Well, I gotta go," he said and then climbed off the boat, never to be heard from in this log again.no subject
"Haha, that Snake. What a guy." Otacon said laughing like all people laugh but a bit nerdier.
Then some tears (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90VyvOhPmA0) slammed into Neris face.
Otacon always cried sideways.
And then he screamed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdbYsoEasio&t=0m10s).

Neris was confused of why there were tears on her face."Um... You can say that, yes." Neris responded, Popples was pretty much a huge body of ocean next to death mountain. And then she watched Otacon pick out a sandwich and watched him with a gaze full of anticipation.
"Do you think so? I wasn't really sure what kind of sandwiches you'd like so I made a whole bunch of different ones. I hope it'll taste good..." She replied with a small, shy smile.
