Who: Ryedan and Burakki
What: It is shopping time and time for shopping.
Where: FDC Mall
When: Wednesday, April 13
Warnings: ghost butts
Their destination? A place called Delfino mall, nestled comfortably in downtown FDC.
The obstacle?
...getting there. It had slowly become apparent that Blacky's death was vehicular in nature, and so Raiden would try to the best of his abilities to oblige her request to stay away from roads. This of course made it a little difficult to get to the mall when he had nothing more than his feet and the campus golf cart as forms of transportation.
Perhaps they would be able to figure something out though. Raiden already had an idea but he would have to see what she thought of it first after picking her up from her dorm.
"Soooo." He stalled, Gamera by his side, while staring at the golf cart in the parking lot and then at Blacky. "How are we going to do this?"

To say that Blacky was a little apprehensive about doing as much as step onto the asphalt of the parking lot was a gross understatement. She'd traveled around the city recently, sure, but always by floating high above the roads where nothing could possibly hurt her. Raiden and Gamera were not ghosts, and she was very determined not to see that change any time soon.
But accidents like that didn't happen all the time, right? She'd never seen any others first-hand since her death. Even Lash's crazy lessons which encouraged reckless driving left everyone in one piece.
Still... She couldn't shake those horrible memories she had when she stood in the mall parking lot with Goose. Those nightmares that plagued her most mornings. This was not going to be easy.
She clenched her fists at her sides and stared at the golf cart. "W-we... Shall drive. Just like the tank. I'll just keep my eyes closed."
She was already dead. WHAT WAS THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN.
fsdaghs that is beautiful ALAS YOU MUST SUFFER WITH TEXT UNTIL I GET OUT OF WORK
"Alright." Raiden got in the driver's seat and started the cart up. Maybe it was the sights that spooked her, maybe it was the sounds, but it was probably a combination of them, so his idea for a blindfold wasn't looking too hot.
"I'll go nice and easy."
The neat thing about a golf cart was it didn't exactly have to obey the rules of the road. Streets, sidewalks, or shortcuts through grass--it could go on any of those undeterred. That said, it wasn't exactly an off-road vehicle designed to tackle anything more steep than a hill or anything more woody than a golf course. And it didn't have seat belts.
"I can take a shortcut through the forest. But once we get to downtown there'll be a lot of cars again. I'll tell you when we get there."
WELL FINE I CAN TEXTO TOO
"...I didn't know you could drive through the forest." She was a little skeptical, but as long as roads themselves were going to be avoided she could handle it. It wasn't like the golf cart could hurt her if she was inside it anyway.
She opened her eyes and peered at the dashboard. There weren't nearly as many levers and buttons as there were in the tank. More like none. She was a little disappointed.
"Such a detour is probably a lot of trouble, isn't it?"
But I rabu Shocky draws ;A;
"Yeah." Slowly, he eased out of the parking lot and towards said forest. "It's not an ATV or a tank or anything but it should be a more direct route."
Direct and perhaps bumpily as they encroached on the forest and it's foliage. Raiden did his best to stick to a path, while running over as few tree roots or fallen branches as possible. Bumps here and there were still unavoidable.
"See? No trouble at all." BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP.
OKAY THIS ONE HAS TWO TO MAKE UP FOR IT
The only unhappy accidents were in her underpants. The bumpiness didn't come as much of a surprise to her, given what a rough ride she had in the tank. That didn't make it any less annoying. Her hair was bouncing everywhere what a pain in the butt. But it could be worse.
She brushed a bit of hair away from her face, looking a little sheepish. "It isn't so bad now that we're moving. I, ah... I feel a little silly now." Being the biggest wuss of a ghost ever was not something to be proud of. But instead of complete and utter humiliation she only felt a little bit embarrassed, just enough to laugh at herself and maybe invite Raiden to laugh with her. Just to hear it.
Oh oops was all the bumping ACCIDENTALLY going to make her bump against him?
BUNP.
She totally would not do such a thing on purpose. Ever. Nope.

Hey, maybe they'd make it through this alright. Maybe the sound of distant cars or sounds of honking in the distance wouldn't be noticed. "We're getting closer."

"Did I ever drive when I was alive?"
That doesn't even qualify as a different topic, Blacky.

"That was awfully generous of me. Is this it?"

"It's not a bad idea to have the knowledge anyway. Who knows when you're in an emergency or something and you have no choice?"
no subject
DID THOSE HORRIBLE FUZZY DICE COME FROM HER TOO WHAT WAS SHE THINKINGShe tried to imagine what kind of emergency she could possibly be in that she would need to drive instead of just ghosting away. It wasn't like anything could kill her, presumably... Maybe such a skill wouldn't be for her. Vaporeon went to the school to become strong enough to help her trainer in an emergency. She wasn't Vaporeon anymore - never truly was - but she still understood that reasoning.
"I'd... like to try learning, then. If you'd still like to teach me. N-not immediately, of course, but once I'm a little more used to the whole idea."
no subject
"When you're ready." He nodded. Which he expected wasn't going to be anytime since. And probably for good reason.
Suddenly, they emerged from the forest, and onto the sidewalk. Before them, a very busy street. Just beyond that was the mall! They were so close.
Wait what was that frog doing here. NO LITTLE FROG WHAT WERE YOU DOING...
After many failed attempts to draw this tag, I give you. TEXT.
wait--
Oh no it was alive. They were going to hit something and kill it because they were in a car and cars were just terrible instruments of death and AAAGH.
"Look out, look out!" She grabbed the steering wheel and pulled
and then they swerved right into a tree and exploded.I ACCEPT TEXT and give you text
Gamera retracted into his shell but was otherwise fine.
Raiden shook his head and his first concern was her of course. "Are you alright?" And then the car, "What'd you do that for?"
I need to start replying IN THE RIGHT SPOT
"Some... Somebody was on the road..." The frog! She glanced out the back of the cart to make sure it was safe. She... couldn't really see it from here. Hopefully it made it. Oh god, oh man, oh god.
"T-there was something small. Sorry. Is the car broken?"
no subject
He stumbled out of the cart and inspected the front hood. "Dented, but looks like it'll still work... I hope." It was around then Raiden noticed the small dibble of blood on her lip. He frowned. It was kind of a strange concept to understand, that even a ghost could bleed.
"Are you okay?" He asked again, much gentler than before and reaching out to touch her face.
no subject
Apparently she could also blush a bit.
M-MOE...The least he could do was give a little warning if he was going to touch her like that! She didn't necessarily not like it, just... Well. She didn't really know how to put what she felt into words. And she wasn't going to.
"Ah... Let's... See if the car will still run."
My draws are all kinds of fail lately I suck. 8'I
S-SO KAWAIIII"Right." He lingered for a few moments just to make sure her injury was a minor one before tending to the cart. An inspection of that proved a similar situation; putting the key in the ignition got it to start, albeit not as strong as it sounded back in the parking lot.
"It works." Raiden looked at the busy street before them, knowing that was going to be the final obstacle. The mall wasn't terribly far away. "We can take the cross walk, and from there getting to the mall will be a snap."
You can uh, close your eyes again if it'll help."
DISAPPOINT.
Hahaha that was. The worst idea. Blacky shook her head. "No, no, we should either drive across it or... I will simply float while you walk."
I am drawing failure and disappointment forever.
Whether it was truly brilliant or not would wait to be seen but he decided to put said plan into action to see how well it would fare. "Come here," He said as he made a scoop for Blacky, hoisting her up into his
lovingarms, bridal style. [[Pretend he is lifting her in a shining blaze of light this is what I tried to draw and the anatomy was like NO DENIED.]]"I'll carry you. It's just across the street and then we'll be inside the mall
where we can play dress up.Think you can handle that?"no subject
And lo, the jumpiest ghost ever cried out in surprise, throwing her arms around Raiden's neck lest he try dropping her onto her head or something. But he didn't, and Blacky understood what it was he really was doing.
Carrying her wasn't going to do much to keep her off the road, but she couldn't really find it in herself to say no.
...She should probably say something though.Instead of just staring in bewilderment.
"Oh, ah... A-alright."
no subject
And then he told her to focus on his heart beat and oh wait...With her in his hands he gave an affirmative nod. "I'll make it quick." He cradled her to him as close as possible to his chest so she wouldn't see, or hear more than his breathing and heartbeat.
"Come on, Gamera." He instructed the Pokemon, and jogged across the street the moment he saw a large opening. The trio made it to the concrete island in the middle of the road no problems. "Halfway there."
And then he waited for another opening.... waiting... waiting... cars and trucks kept rushing by. Surely it would come soon, right?
no subject
Suddenly she was too focused on her irrational jealousy to care about the traffic. She scowled to herself, her speech muffled against Raiden's shirt: "Is it over yet?"
no subject
A break finally came, and they crossed the rest of the street without incident. He trotted a little beyond the sidewalk and into the grass before it would open up into the large parking lot of the mall. Raiden gently set her down. "We're here, look."
no subject
"Good. We needn't repeat this on the way back. I'll manage." She glanced over to the wide expanse of parking lot between her and the mall and immediately doubted her own words. All those cars. But they weren't moving, so that was something.
She stubbornly set her foot on the asphalt. Yep. Not so bad. It didn't matter since she was dead anyway.

loglot safely, though Gamera might of once or twice become distracted with some loose change left on the ground.BEHOLD... THE MALL.
