Shopping for clothes for this cold season... This was actually her first time buying any clothes for winter. It was always warm in Popples, plus she was almost always under the water so she didn't need to buy any. She had just enough knowledge to keep herself clothed when she first came to Smash Academy, but boy, was she surprised when the season changed to autumn! First thing she did was to purchase another pile of clothes to stay warmer. And now, winter. Oh, she wasn't going to be able to have enough money for her other necessities at this point!

With Thanksgiving out of the way, the stores had already changed their decoration to get ready for the holidays. Neris couldn't help but gaze at the decorations curiously as Erika and she walked down the streets of the shopping district.

"What are these decorations?" She asked as she pointed up at the lights as she looked over to the other.

When it came to winter, Erika was very much like the pokemon she trained. She liked the snow well enough, but the ice and the cold did not treat her very kindly. Kanto was always generally fairly warm, so she did not meet that many troubles while at home. While at Final Destination, however... Erika had missed the majority of the winter from the previous year, so she was not as prepared as she could have been. This outing would be very beneficial.

The gym leader glanced up at the mermaid's motion, taking in the sight of the twinkling lights. "Those are Christmas lights," she informed the other. She glanced around at the other decorations hanging festively, wondering if they had gone up before or after Thanksgiving. "Everything looks ready for Christmas already..."

"Oh Christmas..!" She had heard about it from the other fairies before, but she had never seen the holiday celebrated. She wasn't exactly paying her full attention back then, so she only had the most vague idea of what the holiday was about.

"Is it the holiday where people exchange gifts with each other?" She asked.

Just then, the two came up to the store Neris often visited during summer and a little of autumn. "Oh, let's look through this store first! I really loved their summer selections, it became a habit for me to look through every time I pass by!"

Erika nodded. "That's right." It seemed a bit strange to be explaining something that felt so common place to her, but she was happy to do so anyway. "It originated as a religious holiday, and it still is one. However many people that do not practice also choose to celebrate, so its a very festive time of year."

Oh, this store looked very promising. Erika took a quick look at the displays in the windows to get an idea of what would greet them inside. Oh gosh. That sweater right there. She wanted that one. Very promising indeed. Erika was more than happy to agree to this plan. "Alright!" She moved forward to hold the door open for her companion.

"Thank you!" She thanked her new friend as she entered the store. Neris almost immediately danced over to the clothes to start looking at what they had.

"Oh, they look so cute! Look at this one!" She said as she pulled out a white sweater with a rain deer design at the bottom.

The gym leader admittedly had a few unnoticable apprehensions about the particular rack Neris had started out. It seemed like it was one of the perilously tacky holiday racks that every store seemed to have despite everything else. So it was with a bit of wary that Erika looked at the sweater Neris picked out... And was quite pleasantly surprised.

The design was rather simple and tasteful, and was actually quite cute. Not exactly in her taste, but quite cute. "Ooh. That one is a nice find~"

She decided to try her luck with that rack, poking around a bit. The first one she pulled out was a loud, gaudy, Christmas tree inspired piece. Erika refrained from expressing her displeasure, simply returning the sweater with a firm motion and clink of the hanger.

Neris, on the other hand, couldn't help but get into giggling fit at the piece Erika pulled out. She was sure she wouldn't wear it, but it was just so funny-looking!

"Oh, that's one funny shirt!" Neris replied after she managed to catch her breath, although she was still having some tiny giggles as she spoke. Ow her stomach. "Whew, that gave me a really good laugh."

She thought for a moment before she spoke again.

"Have you already started considering what to buy for your friends and family for the holiday? That's what everyone does this month, yes?"

OH GOOD. Erika laughed in turn, catching Neris' amusement. "I don't know what some people are thinking when they design some of these," she admitted. Erika had secretly hoped that Neris wouldn't turn around and say that she had positively loved that design or something along those lines. Oh who knew what the rest of the day would have been like if that had been the case. Full of repressed reactions, that's what.

She nodded at the other's question. "Mmm, yes, that's what most tend to do..." Erika tilted her head a bit thoughtfully as she turned to the next closest selection of items. These were much simpler in design in comparison to the land of gaudy trees. "I've started thinking, but I'm not completely sold on some ideas... things are a bit different this year, so I'm not sure which approach I should take."

Neris' pointy ears perked at the tiny bit at the end. "a bit different," she said? Time to ask.

"How are things 'different'?" the mermaid asked, getting closer to the other with a curious smile on her face.

Erika blinked, glancing over at the other. Oh. Oh. She had set herself up for that one, hadn't she? She chuckled, pretending her cheeks weren't turning just a bit pink.

"Ah, well, in years past I have gotten a gift for a dear friend... but this year he's a bit more than a friend."

Oh my gosh. Neris' favorite topic. Oh my gosh oh my gosh, childhood friends suddenly becoming the significant other; this is a really nice setting! She leaned closer so she couldn't miss any small detail.

"Oohh~? Who is the lucky person to have such a pretty person?" She asked. But then a thought came across her mind: Erika and she didn't know each other very well and maybe the other wasn't that comfortable talking about this topic? She hadn't thought about it when she was talking with Misty, woops...

"Oh, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to! I'm sorry if I put you in an uncomfortable position." She then said with a small giggle, pulling away to give the other some space. "I love talking about romance, you see... I just can't help but get excited when I hear other people dating!"

Oh, hello Neris, you were right there. Such a pretty... Erika blushed a bit further, but she laughed quietly. "It's alright!"

It was a bit of a sudden inquiry, certainly, but who was Erika to deny such an inquisitive mind? A bad gossip, that's who. Though it wasn't really gossip when you talked about yourself... At any rate, Neris probably wasn't about to roll around through Kanto spilling the news to everyone she met.

Not that her relationship was to be kept under wraps. They just... hadn't really felt the need to proclaim it as something, she supposed.

"Mm, you might know him, he's on the faculty as well. His name is Brock."

Oh my~ That's the name of the person who gave brownies to her during that one day! Don't worry Erika, Neris won't be doing something drastic like that; she probably didn't even know how to get to Kanto!

"Oh him~" She said with a smile. "He's a very nice young man!"

And then for the question that had been floating around since the topic came up: "Who asked who out?"

Erika seemed like a very nice, quiet young lady. It seemed more plausible for Brock to be the one taking the initiative step. But who knows?
