Who: Link and Pit
What: Archery!
When: November 6th, sometime in the morning
Where: The archery range
Warnings: Pfff it's just Link and Pit

Link had just finished setting up the archery targets for medium-distance archery, and was now waiting for Pit to arrive. He couldn't wait to see Pit's light arrows in action! Of course, Link had brought his own bow and arrows, so that they could just do some regular archery afterwords.

Pit showed up, like he did just about every day. But today would be special! Link would be there waiting for him. And sure enough, he was.

With a quicker pace and his favorite bow in his hands, he came trotting up to greet his fellow archer-in-arms! "Good morning, Link!" he called, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. "You beat me here! Looks like I should have gotten up earlier, ha ha." He stopped his tracks a few feet away from him.

I'm so sorry about the lateness... ;__;

"I was made ready." Pit eyed the targets' arrangements and adjusted his grip on his bow. Hopefully Link would be impressed.

"Would you like to go first, or should I?" he asked, pointing at one of the targets ahead. "I can show you what this wonder can do, but sometimes the targets break..."

It was almost a month Q_Q

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"All right, then!" Pit raised his bow, angled his shot correctly, and fired. The angel almost seemed to pull the shining bluish arrow out of nowhere; in reality, it came from the rings on his arm. The bolt of light zipped through the air and smashed into the target, managing to splinter it. Once the impact ended, the arrow vanished completely.

"Ahh, see, that's what I was talking about!" he mentioned, noting the cracked wood. "And this is why I use regular arrows. They don't break targets so easily..."

How about I just tag better.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh!" Pit exclaimed, lowering his bow with a wide grin. "Thank you, um... The arrows come from these rings you see here." He held up his arm for Link to see, a pair of glowing yellow bands encircling his wrist. "They don't really come from anywhere... just myself. They're nothing but pure light energy that comes from mine. But these rings are like a quiver, you know?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
"You need to ask me that? Of course I'm ready! What's the challenge, Link?" He looked on with eager eyes.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Pit scoped the range to check again how the targets were placed, and noticed that they weren't set up in a way that would pressure them to test their ability to quickly improvise, but it didn't matter too much. He added, "And distance from the center counts, too. You have to hit the center, or else it's meaningless. Don't waste too many arrows, Link!"

Moving over and spreading more distance between them, Pit propped his bow up, prepared to shoot again. "Good to go?" He watched for Link's bow to present itself.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
"3...2...1...GO!!" And then Pit began aiming and firing wildly, but with practiced precision. Years worth and then some of sending arrows through the air had fine-tuned his skill with a bow, and in a matter of 3 seconds he pinned a target dead-center. Satisfaction seared through him and he locked on to another target.

He was curious about where Link's arrows landed, though, so through his flurry of competitive spirit and concentration he tried his hardest to crane his attention over to Link's work. It was a little difficult!

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Even with seemingly unlimited arrows, Pit followed the rules and tried to fire as little as possible. Good, Link wasn't shabby at all.

The angel managed to hit two targets with one arrow and felt delight splash up inside. Oh no... he should have chosen to stick with an ordinary wooden bow, on second counts, because as Pit flung his arrows at targets haphazardly, he began to second-guess which targets had already been shot. It was easy enough to tell where Link's had landed, but Pit needed to keep a mental checklist, and that checklist could only be verified either by memory or by whatever blemish the light beams left on the targets. He couldn't see them closely from here, though. Oh well, just keep shooting...

Only a few more to go...!

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Pit had finished at around the same time Link did, and he turned to face Link, drawing in a final breath after all that arm exertion. "Whew! Okay, I used 16 arrows. How about you?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aww, so close! Just two more and you would have had me beat. Uh. I mean to say... less. Ahaha..." He raked a hand through his hair and said, "But we almost tied. Good job, Link. I think you're pretty good with a bow."

Not just pretty good; better than a paltry word like "pretty". They shared an archery class together and Pit was naturally interested in seeing other students use bows, and Link was exceptional, practiced. It worth admiring, but pinched a small envious string in Pit. Even bigger was his curiosity. "Say... where did you learn? I don't think you ever said anything about that before." He looked at Link expectantly. "It's not secret, is it?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"So you taught yourself? Without any help at all? Oooh, then when did you start learning? Was it young?" He seemed... genuinely curious, as the more questioned he popped out, the more the lights pooled into his eyes and the closer he seemed to lean.

Whoa, pardon my grammar errors in those last few tags! 8U

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
The angel froze up right there, and he suddenly found himself unable to keep his mouth closed. "A... year? You- but I- That's so..." Insane... His fingers gripped at his bow and he didn't know WHAT to do except stare at Link like a fish. And what was he even trying to say? J-jeez, this guy had only been learning for such a short amount of time, and yet... yet he seemed like he had been doing it his entire life. Like him.

Pit swallowed and let an awkward laugh float away as he gathered his words up into a more coherent stream. "You're a prodigy!"

Oh. WELL THEN. Now you get to know.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It must have been video game mechanics that made the bow disappear. Anyway...

"I'm glad you think so," Pit replied, recovering nicely from the shock of Link's marvelous knack for bowmanship. "I've... been practicing longer than you have... but, well, I guess... as long as I got good! That's all that matters, right?" He exhibited a small, edgy laugh, blushing ever so slightly for the weird behavior he was conscious of.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-02-11 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He was gradually loosing his frenetic waver in disposition. "I bet you could learn, though! Hey, if you can pick up a bow and be this good in only a year, who knows with magic? They have a class here, you know! It might not be too late to sign up."

Pit's eyes shifted back and forth and his head craned around, like he was checking the perimeter for someone's... presence. "But the teacher is kind of a grouch. It's probably cuz he's so old. But there are other magic classes that are similar, like magic history and trans... uh. mogrying?" The angel fumbled with that last word because he couldn't remember how to pronounce it. Hey, come on, it was a funny word!

"Well, you know! Maybe not, huh?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Tapping his chin as he conjured sense on the topic matter, Pit replied slowly, "It... sounds like it has to do with transforming. Yeah, that would make sense. So maybe it's transforming with magic! Hey, that would be useful to know. Maybe I should try- nnno. No no, that won't do me any good right now!" He broke out in a series of lighthearted chuckles and waved it off. "I take too many classes as it is! Bad idea!"

He whirled around to face Link, shoving his arms behind his back and smiling at him with an expectant glow. "But this is about you, not me! You have so much potential. I'm maybe jealous."

Little did Pit know, but the teacher in charge of instructing students to change people into salamanders and the like was actually Link's arch-nemesis.

Pardon Pit, though; he's a bit lacking when it comes to pacing his conversation sometimes! "Hey, I'm curious. You've been on an adventure before?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have! It was a tough journey with lots of hardships, but in the end it was worth it. Now I'm stronger because of it." The angel beamed, pleased about his trial's reflection. But he was more curious about hearing Link's story... if he would tell it.

"I want to know about yours. Where did you go? Who did you see? Um... would you like to sit down, first? That is, if it's long..." He only wished it was long. Dork.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
With a whimsical flourish Pit settled onto the bench next to him, carried like a feather by his anticipation. Once Link spoke, he began listening intently.

Link started out as a casual laborer, from the sound of it. Immediately he pictured the lush rows of crops and farmland speckled with sheep and goats, the whole picture could be gazed upon from the heavens. The idea was romanticized to Pit, who had never once participated but had looked on from a detached and uncommunicable spot at the lives of such happy people. Pit was charmed.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
And Pit listened with 100% interest, being swept away by such heroism and feeling his admiration for Link peak to heights previously unreached. He made plenty of small side comments and noises of reverence, ohs and ahhs and slight gasps when the story got good. He also learned that Midna and Link were good friends and had shared the adventure, as well as Zelda, too. Wow, all of these revelations were such a thrill to behold for him. He knew so many amazing adventurers... It delighted him.

Then... there was the final issue with Ganondorf. "Wait. Ganondorf..." The angel swallowed. "You don't mean the same Ganondorf that teaches at this school, do you? Because I know he's a little suspicious sometimes, but I never really thought he'd-" It was like someone dropped a brick on his skull.

Pit bit his lip a little, stopped, and shook his head. "No no, he's alive. Haven't you seen him before?" Surely Link had glimpsed Ganondorf around the school before, but there was the off-chance that he had not. "If this Ganondorf is the same Ganondorf you spoke of, then you would have been able to recognize him, right?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Sex Education, I know that," he replied with an imperceptible shudder. Memories best left forgotten scrolled through his head.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-07-20 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"It's..." The way his mouth pulled into a longer line across one side of his face may have betrayed some of his feelings on the subject before he needed to speak a word. "Interesting. Sometimes a little weird, because Professor Ganondorf's teaching methods are a little, hmm... unique? I never really know what to expect."

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-07-30 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"It's hard to say. Sometimes, maybe," he muttered, kicking his foot at a focused spot on the ground and not looking Link in the eyes. "But... as long as we're learning?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Now, Pit had to take a moment out ponder this, which didn't seem like such a ___ sign. Tapping the side of his jawline, he flipped through all the memories he had of Ganondorf.

"Hmmmm... Hmm! I guess by petty standards he has. I mean, one time he kidnapped me and made me a part of his swim underwear cult. And then there was this one time when he couldn't control his powers and monsters ran wild around the school- we beat them all, of course. That was like, a year ago! But other than that, he just likes to play pranks, I think."
