Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots!

Who: R.O.B., Mac and Spectators
What: Robot vs. Boxer! Smash Fundamentals at work!

R.O.B. waited in the arena for his opponent. This would be an excellent test of his combat capabilities, a test he had not had a chance to perform in some time. He was unfamiliar with his opponent. He had looked up the school registry for Mac, and came up with a picture, and the knowledge that he was a professional boxer. Beyond that he didn't know anything about the man. He was curious as to what he would be like; he had never met a boxer before.

The robot waited in the arena well before the appointed time, as he had nowhere else he needed to be and preferred to be punctual.

Mac had never fought a robot. Heck. SEEN a robot. Let alone, met R.O.B. From Knuckles' description, R.O.B was tough. He always takes his friends' words for things. Like every fight, he puts on his best competitive game face. Remembering this was for class didn't waver this, he was going to have a nice friendly spar with a student. His favorite activity. He was on time but he was walking while wrapping his hands up and putting his gloves on. It wasn't long until he entered the arena to find the robot there. As always, Mac liked to start off every meeting with a friendly face and attitude.

"R.O.B, ain't it? Real nice meetin' ya."

"Affirmative," he said. "I am Robotic Operating Buddy, also known as R.O.B. Query: You are Little Mac?" He extended a robotic hand. "It is my experience that the shaking of hands denotes friendship."

What a really friendly robot! Mac smiled and held out his hand to shake the robot hand of his new sparring buddy. "You're right on both!"

"Thank you," he replied.

"Query: What will be the terms of this encounter?" he asked.

Terms? He hadn't...hm.

"Terms, huh? Like what kinda terms? Usually in boxin' we punch 'till we can't no more..."

"Query: You wish to follow boxing rules for this match?" R.O.B. asked.

"Nah, wouldn't be fair would it?" Mac seemed to prep with stretches and air punches. "It's a spar, not a boxin' match. Fight they way ya want to as long as it's a good nice clean fight."

Max was in the stands. "JUST KICK HIS ASS."

Thanks, Max. You're a big help.

"Understood," R.O.B. answered. "I wish you luck, Mac," he added, awaiting the signal to begin the fight.

MAX HOLD IT JEEZ.

AND THE MATCH WAS SET.

Mac started this off with a punch in the face. Classic boxer style.

Mac's punch landed, and R.O.B.'s head spun from the impact. But he was quick to retaliate, spinning his entire torso, arms outstretched, to force Mac backwards. He had to prepare his other attacks.

He didn't expect that at all, and he was pushed back. He had to remember this is a robot, nothing like he's ever faced before. He goes at him again with a huge swinging punch.

It gave R.O.B. enough time to activate his Gyromite spinner and rev up one of his Gyromites for later use, but then he had to concentrate on dodging again. He was able to block Mac's punch, but he was impressed by the force of the blow. He was knocked back, stunned and trying to analyze Mac's attack patterns and determine an appropriate response.

Mac did not understand how robots worked, let alone how ROB worked. But since it looked like ROB was open, he tried to go for an uppercut. He was attempting to recover quickly, trying to make it not obvious this is semi-new ground.

Mac's punch landed, and what a punch it was. R.O.B. was knocked back into the air, flipping back. He needed to start being more aggressive. As he flipped back around, R.O.B. decided to use the Gyromite he was saving, pitching it in Mac's direction as he fired his boosters to right himself.

Mac tried to dodge but he unfortunately he was too close to ROB to really move. He met the Gyromite and it was a hit, he fell on the floor a ways back from the attack. But he tried to quickly get back up and recover. Now it was getting tough and fun. He tried to charge at him with a hi-punch, aiming for the head.

Fortunately for R.O.B., he was still in boost mode, and was able to fly over Mac's punch. He retaliated by swinging his hover skirt around to whack Mac from behind.

Oof...And he was knocked. This wasn't good. With ROB's hovering this could prove a little bit more tricky. But this was a learning experience, he'll pay any price to have a solid fight. And ROB was fighting fair because they said they could fight in their own styles.

Time to try to aim a hook punch at his hover skirt to get him down.

Mac was able to pull R.O.B. down further, but he quickly tried to retaliate with a grab at Mac. This was certainly an interesting spar. Mac was a tricky opponent, and R.O.B. was happy to test his skills.

Fortunately for Mac, he went to quickly move out of the way of he grab as he attempted to move to another side with a hard jab. Mac was able to pull him down to lower range, so hopefully this would work with his favor. He admitted that ROB was a tricky fighter, what else could he have up his sleeve?

Not necessarily up his sleeve. More like in his face. His eyes glowed for only a moment, before he released a blast of red energy. It was on its lowest setting for purposes of this spar, so it felt more like a punch than any kind of real damage. He had no desire to hurt Mac.

Whoa.

While it wasn't to intentionally harm Mac intensively, it hurt a bit. Dang. LASER BEAMS. THERE HAD TO BE LASER BEAMS. Well played ROB.

"...Whoa!!" Mac was pushed back and stunned temporarily, blinded for a few moments from the red beam.

Taking advantage of Mac's momentary distraction, R.O.B. rushed in and caught Mac in a grab. The robot fired his boosters to lift them up, and then reversed the thrust and slammed back into the ground.

....Dang. And like that, Mac's inexperience had started to show, unwillingly of course. While trying to regain his senses, he could feel the force of being pulled and risen from up the ground. There was a shocked look on his face, boy, did he leave his guard down. He made grunting sound as he finally made contact with the ground. Okay, now it hurt kinda bad. He laid on the ground for a few seconds before he went to try to get back up again. He had to plan things out again but he didn't want to leave himself open anymore.

Mac tried to make a powerful jab in ROB's midsection.

R.O.B. took the attack directly, and his midsection gave way from the blow. His lasers still had to finish charging and he didn't have a gyromite prepared. The last attack had taken Mac down a peg, but he still needed to step it up. He tried to start up his spinning arms to try and make some distance between them.

The spinning arms made it harm for him to get too close and was pushed back but if he didn't do something fast, Mac was going to get wide open again.

Mac tried to duck as low as he could to get a punch under the arms. It probably won't work. Good to be ambitious and he tried hard, but one of the arms knocked Mac on the head. And he stepped back from ROB, in a daze again.

R.O.B. braced his arms on the ground and whipped around, ready to "kick" Mac with his hover skirt...

Then he stopped. He stopped attacking and returned to a neutral position. "You are injured," he stated. "We should cease."

Goose was here.

Watching ROB.

Oh, and Mac, I guess.
