[Open] Smile!
Who: Spinrak, anyone
What: She goes around and smiles.
Where: Around school
When: Friday the 22nd. All day
Warnings: Creepy smiles for everyone.
After the talk with Sasha, Spinarak felt a lot better about herself. She had always thought her smiles were too scary to show to others, but after the compliments the Charizard had given her she felt as though she could smile more openly. Not that she'd smile at the mirror. No, she still couldn't handle looking at her own smile. Practice makes perfect, right? She was going to go and smile at everyone.
[ooc: Just put the day (and location, if you want) your dude would run into Spinarak! It'll mostly be a conversation or something! \o/]

"...Hello."
no subject
Hmm.
Oh wait.
"You're... the Spinarak student?" Well, now Vinnie had to make an effort to compose himself, or at the very least not look like he was going to nod off at any second.
no subject
"Yes. I'm Spinarak..."
no subject
Okay, he wasn't going to pretend that didn't startle him, because it did. But damned if he was going to do anything like yelp or gasp or make unmanly noises in fright - that was just stupid.
Looking a little alarmed, Vinnie stared back, agape. Sasha did say she was teaching her to smile... what the hell, Sasha.
What to say what to say, try to not draw attention to that creepy face. "...Uh, well, do you have a nickname?"
no subject
"...Some people call me Spinny..." She replied. "...Would that be... a nickname...?"
no subject
Vinnie gave the tiniest, the most minute sigh of relief. If this as Sasha's plan to make the spider more sociable, then she was going to get really messed results.
What with this being their first time meeting in person, Vinnie extended his hand towards her, offering it in a friendly hello shake. Hopefully she could be assured enough that he wasn't going to eat her on the spot - it was pretty hard to do so as a human anyway. "Close enough. All right then, Spinner - nice to meet you."
no subject
"Nice to meet you..." She trailed off as she took out a frowning mask by habit. What was his name again? "...your name...?"
no subject
That mask - was that her way of using emoticons outside of the computer? It struck Vinnie as more than a little odd. Curious, and forgetting a little thing like manners, he yoinked the sign in her hand to take a closer look.
"So what's this supposed to be for?"
no subject
"It's...for showing...my feelings...better..." She responded slowly as she gazed at the mask. Oh god please don't break it, it's hand-made. "Showing different faces...is hard for me..."
no subject
Briefly, he tested it out by holding it up over his own face - but that just didn't feel natural to him. As far as he was concerned, it wasn't an aid, it was a crutch.
Putting it down, he regarded the Spinarak seriously, trying to say his mind as gently as he could. "It's cute, but you can't hide behind a little mask all the time, Spinner. Y'don't gotta be afraid of giving people a piece'a your mind."
no subject
"...I'll do my best...to not hide..."
no subject
"Attagirl. Look, the secret to bein' brave doesn't hafta do with how well you show faces. It's standin' up for what you think is right - and that includes your feelings.
"Don't smile cuz people say you should. Smile cuz you're happy. Do it for youself, t'hell what everyone else thinks. Doesn't matter if other people're stronger than you, cuz once you've got the self-confidence, you'll get stronger too."
That was his bold nature talking, but that's what Vinnie lived by. He was only vaguely aware of how odd it was to be giving food advice.
no subject
"...What if...I want to smile to...show that I'm happy...but I can't...do so well?" She asked, her gaze cast down towards the grass as she spoke. "How do... I get better...at showing smiles...and frow--sad faces...?"
Woops, she bit her tongue on that 'frown'...
DERP CHINA TAGFAIL
Vinnie put his thinking face on, idly tapping his chin with her sign that he was currently forgetting to return to her. "Well, you could... work on your body language, maybe. Yeah." There were tons of Pokemon with not much of a face to speak of, but they still managed to convey their feelings with how they acted. They had to get through to their trainers somehow.
That sounded like the right sort of advice. And thus he began to elaborate: "So, if you're happy, act real gung-ho an'excited, that stuff. Be in-your-face about it. And if you're not happy at someone, then punch them."
The best advice.
Re: DERP CHINA TAGFAIL
"...Punching people...helps?" She asked slowly, feeling very unsure about accepting this advice. Everything Vinnie had said up to this point sounded like really good ones, though, so perhaps she should follow this last one too...
Re: DERP CHINA TAGFAIL
"'Course. Helps let off a lotta steam. Sure, I get in trouble for it sometimes, but as far as I'm concerned, if someone's really pissin' you off, they deserve to be punched."
He nodded sagely.
no subject
"I'll try..." She replied with a tiny jab in the air for practice. "...I will practice...my punches..."
no subject
So, what better way to get started than with some real practice? "Al'right then - gimme your best one!"
He really meant it. He wants you to punch him, Spinny. And he looked excited about it.
no subject
"But...you aren't...making me upset..." She replied. Not upset, but he was definitely making her feeling unsure of the entire situation. Yes, this was a fighting school, but wasn't it better for people to throw each other punches while they're doing a spar, not out of nowhere?
no subject
"Well, I made you upset cuz I wanted t'eat you, right? And you need a trainin' partner who can't get poisoned too easy." Half poison type bros!
His big brotherly instincts were taking over any sort of appetite he had for her. Maybe it was because he could relate to that bottom-of-the-barrel feeling of wanting to get stronger - so he wanted to help.
no subject
"...I felt...scared..." She replied slowly. "...But not upset..."
no subject
"Oh, that's funny. I'm always upset when I'm scared. But not everyone's like that." Hrm, this might be a slower process than he thought.
There was one thing he was sure of, though: "You'll get more confident 'bout yourself once you know you can kick some ass."
no subject
"...I'm...taking a smash...fund...a...mentals class....practice fighting..." She said very slowly. "...Maybe I can...get some...confidence there..."
They were learning about the basics of fighting there anyways, she figured there would be a day where they would end up having a sparring session someday! Probably in the far future...
Boy did she jinx it.vinnie stop teaching her swear words
And then he got his ass kicked"Maybe we could spar sometime." god vinnie no "Or train. Just for practice, I mean, not a real fight. I could give you some tips."
next thing we know, spinny will try to swear and fail
"That sounds...like a really...good...idea..." She replied.
