AN ARMED WEAPONRY CLASS LOG WHAAAAAT
Who: Samus and YOUUUU
What: Armed Weaponry class
Where: Room 214 / Courtyard
When: Mid-morning Tuesday, July 27th
Warnings: Wet bodies running around in heat?!
[Samus, who has totally been teaching this class in spirit the entire time, waits for everyone to fill in the classroom before starting a very exciting lecture.]
Today I'm going to give a small lecture on airsoft guns which will be followed by a quiz, and then an optional extracurricular classroom activity in the courtyard.Because I may or may not have plans this afternoon.
Airsoft guns areancient primitive replica firearms that are similar to BB guns with the exception that BB guns fire metal pellets, whereas airsoft guns fire plastic ones. I'll be using the HFC HG-196 Full Metal Gas Airsoft Pistol as an example today. [This is where she starts writing on the board and drawing diagrams and expects you to pay attention.]
Gas-powered airsoft guns use pressurized gas to propel pellets. These guns are capable of automatic and semi-automatic operation. The most common gases used are "green gas", or HFC-134a, which consists of a mixture of propane and a polysiloxane lubricant. The generic parts of this gun are the magazine, magazine catch, slide, thumb safety, hammer, trigger, and frame. All should be self explanatory. To refill the gas, you would need to remove the magazine and tilt the magazine base upwards, then insert the nozzle of the gas container. Using the wrong kind of gas will damage the gun and probably your hand too if you try to fire it.
I picked this particular weapon today because it partially emulates a non-lethal gun that I would be comfortable allowing you all the play with.I think.
[She holds this plastic gun up from her desk. Yes, it is a super soaker.]
...Should you pass my quiz first.
Super soakers, while a recreational toy, also use an air pressurized reservoir system to focus their ammo--water--out of the nozzle for greater accuracy and firepower. Sometimes an entirely separate firing chamber may be used but the result is the same.
Hand in your quizes, and you may receive a super soaker. Once everyone is complete you are free to spend the remainder of the class in the courtyard utilizing your new found knowledge in a practical setting. If you do not wish to participate, I suggest you stay out of the courtyard today. Also go squirt Miller later in the evening because he deserves it.
