Open office log 01: Magical Mushroom Angsty time!

Who: Matt and everyone (yes, even you. =D )
What: Let's try and sort out these angst episodes!
Where: The psycology office.
When: July 4th to 9th, between 7am and 5pm

Monsters and aliens? Yea, Matt could and would handle things like that enthusiastically. Mushrooms that make you half insane? Well, that was another issue entirely. Maybe this school really was insane.

But if that was the case, then he was supposed to fix that. He usually didn't keep his office open so late, but he knew that his work was cut out for him. His office was somewhat on the small and plain side, but that just made it easier for him to focus on the issues at hand. He kept the door open, and braced himself for whatever he'd have to deal with.

July 6, probably after lunchishtime

The last thing Lighter would openly admit was that he felt like he needed some kind of "psychology" help or whatever. And considering the list of other things he'd never admit, that was definitely saying something. But considering everything that happened on Friday... It might as well have been the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

Even if Matt didn't have some kind of miracle forget-everything-that-happened drug or potion or whatever the hell psychologists were supposed to have, maybe he could fix a certain other thing that had been plaguing Lighter for a while.

When nobody else was in the halls, he decided to risk knocking on the door. But since it was open he didn't even wait for a response before letting himself in.

"Yeah, that's right. I figured since you look pretty normal and it's your job to fix people or somethin', maybe..." Wait, no, that implied Lighter was broken somehow. That wasn't it, damn it!

He cleared his throat and started again. "So you don't go tellin' nobody about anything anyone tells you, right?

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ehh..." That wasn't much comfort to Lighter. Only because to most people, the 'rules' seemed to be more of a passive suggestion than anything.

Still, he'd come this far.

"Good enough. So those crazy hallucinations were pretty bad. Made some folks do really stupid crap. Made me end up... uh... y'know. Kinda... Ikissedmybestfriend but anyhow, you got anything that'll cure the gay?"

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"NO." At least he could be certain about that much. There were way too many things wrong with that, whether they were both men or not. "But there's been... uh... other stuff." With other people. That he didn't really want to think about. STUPID SEXY FALCON.

"I mean, I was married! And I loved her, and I got a kid and everything, but... I dunno. Ain't no other woman ever caught my eye, and I don't want nobody to, but sometimes there's men who..." He let out a frustrated growl and shook his head. "It ain't right, y'know?"

8'D Whit is a genius.

Lonelier than he thought? There was nothing lonesome about living secluded out in the forest away from the village. And even if there was, he was surrounded by people every day since he came to the school, so he really should be feeling the opposite of lonely.

But that hallucination kept saying things about being lonely. Dying alone. Fuel was growing fast, and it wouldn't be long until he moved on and did whatever it was he wanted to do.

"I... guess I never really thought about whether I wanna look or not. I figured I was fine, and that I'd be enough to raise my boy on my own, but..." He trailed off, scratching at his ever-present manly stubble. "I mean, most the folks here are crazy even when they're not seein' things. Nobody I'd ever wanna settle down with."

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"The rest of the city seems just as crazy from what I've seen. And back home... There ain't really no one close to my age not married or somethin'." There was always Tessie, but half the damn village wanted to marry her.

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, Tazmily's real tiny compared to this. Even when all those damned Pig Masks and tourists were all over the place, there was still a hell of a lot less people than just in this school! But... I been here over a year, almost two now. I figure if I ain't adjusted yet, I'll never be."

He raised an eyebrow. "How's goin' out supposed to help anything, anyhow? You sayin' I should just run away and hide out like some kinda sissy?"

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Army folk. Bad guys." Like everyone in any kind of miliatary had to be. Lash's existence really didn't help him to believe otherwise.

Lighter sighed and crossed his arms. He was starting to regret coming in here in the first place. "I guess you're right. Only if I decide I should go and find someone, of course."

Stubborn woodsman was stubborn.

Oh pff he was so not going to answer the first question. His temper was starting to get the best of him. "Fine! Maybe I will!" He huffed and stormed out!

Welp. So much for all that, then.

July 5th, late afternoon.

Nyx had paced past the door at least three times. There wasn't a single part of her that wanted to admit any of the things that would have to come out if she walked into that room, but... Friday's hallucination hadn't really been something too unfamiliar. She'd been having nightmares almost exactly like it for months, and as much as she told herself that she'd get used to them, that eventually she wouldn't even realize they had happened, she was starting to lose sleep over it. In the end, even if she didn't think this would help, it was the best she could do for now.

So, on her next pass by the door, Nyx pushed open the door without knocking and helped herself to a seat.

[identity profile] ghostly-nyx.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nyx just glared at him while she made herself comfortable in the chair.

"Shut up. I'm only here 'cause I ain't thinkin' of too many other options, an' I need to sleep sometime this month. Word gets out to anyone else I was anywhere near this room, your life becomes a livin' hell. You got me?"

Right, because there just wasn't any way that this could go smoothly.

'Psychology'. that was a class, Isaac was sure. Whether or not he had that class was a completely different story. The blond Adept turned the knob and peeked through the crack between the door and its frame. The classroom was empty as he had seen it. Oh, perphaps he was just early?

"E-Excuse me?" he stuttered, unnerved by the serious lack of students. He had anticipated otherwise. "T-This is the psychology office, right?" He had thought that 'office' meant classroom and promptly walked into the room even though he hadn't received an answer.

Ah...he could feel his face redden and he was certain that if another student didn't walk in and soon, he'd begin the slow but sure breaking down process. Oh, Isaac could see it. His knees would start shaking, his hands would wrap tightly around the binder he carried, his voice would crack, his face would bury itself into his load, and his cheeks would come to the full tomato-red blush they usually did when the Adept met someone new.

"I-Is there a place to sit?"

Re: July 6th, 9 AM

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Afraid!? Who did this teacher think he was talking to? Isaac was definitely insulted by that insinuation. After all, he and his friends had managed to save an entire world. That takes courage! 'Afraid' wasn't the right word to describe what Isaac was feeling, no, but the Adept let the mistake slide since, well, this teacher didn't know him at all.

"N-no, I'm fine..." he said, taking a quick breath at the end to ease his mind and halt the breaking-down process. His face had only turned a little pink and his knees hadn't started shaking. Good. At least he'd managed to stop it early in its onset.

He looked at his hand for a second and thought, "I can fight monsters and help save a world and yet talking to people turns me into a baby! This was just like what happened when I first moved in. Ah...if only people didn't unnerve me as much as everything else should."

The Adept didn't say much more than that since he had assured himself that he was courageous and that this little...'quirk' was something he could probably grow out of while he was at the Academy. He quietly took a seat before the adult. The blush on his cheeks mellowed out until he turned to to be what could be considered a 'healthy glow'.

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Right," Isaac nodded as he pulled, from his leather messenger bag, a notebook and a pen. The Adept smiled innocently, not knowing he was sitting in front of the psychologist, preparing for a lecture on the deeper workings of the inner mind.

And there he waited in silence like the good student he tended to be. Really, he wasn't one to do anything that might be considered the deeds of a 'bad student'.

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Matt had caught Isaac off guard for the Adept cocked an eyebrow and seemed to move back into his chair.

"Um...to take notes? Isn't that what you do at the Academy?"

Honestly, Isaac couldn't remember the last time he'd been so studious. Maybe his friends were rubbing off on him.

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
The Stars! Isaac's eyes widened as he realized he had gotten himself lost again. His mouth wiggled into a smile that told people Isaac had habitually done this and, despite his attempts to get better, he obviously was failing. In other, more modern words, epic failsauce.

"Ah..." he scratched his head and blushed, coming to be more relaxed than when he had first walked in. "Oh...I'm sorry to have taken up your time," he chuckled. "I must have looked completely insane, walking in and grabbing my notebook."

He had started packing.

July 9th, 3 PM

When Brock got baking, he really baked. He usually had a bad habit of producing too many baked goods, much more than he could ever eat himself. Still, he didn't really mind, because that meant sharing! Often after a particularly productive baking session, the gym leader would wander from office to office, distributing plates of cookies or brownies or whatever.

Today, after stopping by a few familiar faculty offices, Brock found himself outside Matt's door. Having avoided the mushrooms, he didn't really have any concerns to air, but maybe the psychologist would appreciate a visit that wasn't about neuroses and problems.

So, with a plate of chocolate chip cookies in hand, he knocked on the door.

[identity profile] bestsweater.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
It was about then that Brock noticed this might be a little awkward. As he entered the office, he switched the plate into his left hand in order to better extend his right for the manliest of handshakes.

"I uh...I know this is kind of random but I made way too many so I'm just kind of making the rounds to see if anyone wants any. I'm Brock, by the way."

SOB MY INFINITE APOLOGIES FOR LATE

[identity profile] bestsweater.livejournal.com 2010-07-28 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you." He said, offering a smile, and then the cookies. "I know this is probably unexpected. I saw your journal post about counseling and figured, well, um. Everyone could use some cookies. How is everything?"

i am the slowest everrrr

[identity profile] bestsweater.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"You should have some too, though." Brock set the tray down, knowing that nearly everyone had gone through what were presumed to be harrowing journeys into the subconscious.

"Yeah." He nodded. "I managed to avoid the...whatever it was that went around. I guess I'm just worried about everyone else."

It was no use, Sable still couldn't get what happened during her hallucinations out of her head. Maybe it was time to get a little help. Still, she was very shy about talking about her problems, and especially what happened this weekend to someone that she didn't know all that way.

She eventually convinced herself to pay a visit to the psychology office, seeing as how they know how the mind works, and since they're professionals, they would know how to make things better! In the end, however, she was still pretty nervous. She poked her head into the office. "Hello...?" she said quietly.

[identity profile] pinkgingham.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
She sighed in relief. At least the man was friendly. It did put her at ease! She went inside the office and shut the door behind her. "Um...I'm mainly here because I wanted to talk a little bit about the hallucinations that I had a few days ago. I can't seem to get it off from my mind, so maybe talking about it might help..."

July 4th, afternoon; late to the party as usual o3ob

Have a Giovanni knocking on the door to alert you to his prescence. There's a redhaired boy with him as well, looking none too pleased to be here. "Hello, Mr. Campbell."

"not too pleased" was an understatement, it would be more accurate to say "looked as though if he weren't injured he would have clawed the man's face off to escape".

"This is my son, Silver, and also one of the students here. We both got hit by the hallucinations Friday, so I thought it best if we both came by." He closed the door behind him and gently pushed Silver forward.
