Open office log 01: Magical Mushroom Angsty time!
Who: Matt and everyone (yes, even you. =D )
What: Let's try and sort out these angst episodes!
Where: The psycology office.
When: July 4th to 9th, between 7am and 5pm
Monsters and aliens? Yea, Matt could and would handle things like that enthusiastically. Mushrooms that make you half insane? Well, that was another issue entirely. Maybe this school really was insane.
But if that was the case, then he was supposed to fix that. He usually didn't keep his office open so late, but he knew that his work was cut out for him. His office was somewhat on the small and plain side, but that just made it easier for him to focus on the issues at hand. He kept the door open, and braced himself for whatever he'd have to deal with.

July 6, probably after lunchishtime
Even if Matt didn't have some kind of miracle forget-everything-that-happened drug or potion or whatever the hell psychologists were supposed to have, maybe he could fix a certain other thing that had been plaguing Lighter for a while.
When nobody else was in the halls, he decided to risk knocking on the door. But since it was open he didn't even wait for a response before letting himself in.

He heard the knock, and gave an acknowledging nod. "Hm, I didn't expect you to be here. Lighter, was it?"
no subject
He cleared his throat and started again. "So you don't go tellin' nobody about anything anyone tells you, right?

Still, he'd come this far.
"Good enough. So those crazy hallucinations were pretty bad. Made some folks do really stupid crap. Made me end up... uh... y'know. Kinda... Ikissedmybestfriend but anyhow, you got anything that'll cure the gay?"
no subject
Homosexuality in psychology was actually a fairly recent topic, and while Matt did his best to keep up with current trends, he actually did have to think for a while on that one.
"Sir, this may be hard to believe, but it's perfectly normal for men to experiment in these kind of ways at least once in their life. You can't actually assume you're gay until you take a good look at what actually went on." He started to explain before jumping right to the question.
"Tell me, do you think you would have actually enjoyed kissing your friend?"
no subject
STUPID SEXY FALCON."I mean, I was married! And I loved her, and I got a kid and everything, but... I dunno. Ain't no other woman ever caught my eye, and I don't want nobody to, but sometimes there's men who..." He let out a frustrated growl and shook his head. "It ain't right, y'know?"
/nearly died lauging at that icon.
Wait, a wife and kid? This was a good sign. Maybe this wasn't so hopeless. "Are you sure you don't want to look?" He asked, and before waiting for an answer, he continued.
"Whatever happened to your wife, it seems pretty obvious that you loved her, and you don't want to ever forget that. Even still, you know there's no woman in the world who could ever compare to her, which is why you've lost interest."
He knows that just saying that Lighter needs to move on would cause problems, so he tries to be a bit more subtle. "If you don't realize that you're lonelier then you think, it might come out in ways you don't really like."
8'D Whit is a genius.
But that hallucination kept saying things about being lonely. Dying alone. Fuel was growing fast, and it wouldn't be long until he moved on and did whatever it was he wanted to do.
"I... guess I never really thought about whether I wanna look or not. I figured I was fine, and that I'd be enough to raise my boy on my own, but..." He trailed off, scratching at his ever-present manly stubble. "I mean, most the folks here are crazy even when they're not seein' things. Nobody I'd ever wanna settle down with."
no subject
"But what about outside this school? If your limiting your search to whoever you meet at work, you're going to be disappointed."

There was always Tessie, but half the damn village wanted to marry her.no subject
"Maybe you should go out into the country, or a calmer area. At least, until you adjust to how hectic cities like this can be." These excuses were starting to get just the tiniest bit suspicious.
no subject
He raised an eyebrow. "How's goin' out supposed to help anything, anyhow? You sayin' I should just run away and hide out like some kinda sissy?"
no subject
"I'm not saying you should run away, I'm saying that you should find a place where you can find someone." He explained. "The world is a vast place, and finding someone can be hard. But if you want to succeed here, you'll have to look past the insane majority."
no subject
Lighter sighed and crossed his arms. He was starting to regret coming in here in the first place. "I guess you're right. Only if I decide I should go and find someone, of course."
Stubborn woodsman was stubborn.
no subject
"If you'd rather keep taking your frustrations out on your male friends, that's your choice." He adjusted his glasses and looked directly at him.
no subject
Welp. So much for all that, then.
no subject
Oh yea, he was so gay.Matt was a little put-aside, but he got the job done as well as he could. It wasn't pretty, but it was pretty good for the first one-one one since he left the military. The problem was addressed, and if Lighter decided to do something about it, then it was technically successful. If not, then he may have just made it worse.
July 5th, late afternoon.
So, on her next pass by the door, Nyx pushed open the door without knocking and helped herself to a seat.
no subject
"Oh, hello there."
no subject
"Shut up. I'm only here 'cause I ain't thinkin' of too many other options, an' I need to sleep sometime this month. Word gets out to anyone else I was anywhere near this room, your life becomes a livin' hell. You got me?"
Right, because there just wasn't any way that this could go smoothly.
no subject
"I suppose going right to the problem would be in your best interest then." He would have to be careful around this one, since she looked a bit... volatile.
July 6th, 9 AM
"E-Excuse me?" he stuttered, unnerved by the serious lack of students. He had anticipated otherwise. "T-This is the psychology office, right?" He had thought that 'office' meant classroom and promptly walked into the room even though he hadn't received an answer.
Ah...he could feel his face redden and he was certain that if another student didn't walk in and soon, he'd begin the slow but sure breaking down process. Oh, Isaac could see it. His knees would start shaking, his hands would wrap tightly around the binder he carried, his voice would crack, his face would bury itself into his load, and his cheeks would come to the full tomato-red blush they usually did when the Adept met someone new.
"I-Is there a place to sit?"
Re: July 6th, 9 AM
"Now, just try and relax. I promise that there's nothing to be afraid of."
Re: July 6th, 9 AM
"N-no, I'm fine..." he said, taking a quick breath at the end to ease his mind and halt the breaking-down process. His face had only turned a little pink and his knees hadn't started shaking. Good. At least he'd managed to stop it early in its onset.
He looked at his hand for a second and thought, "I can fight monsters and help save a world and yet talking to people turns me into a baby! This was just like what happened when I first moved in. Ah...if only people didn't unnerve me as much as everything else should."
The Adept didn't say much more than that since he had assured himself that he was courageous and that this little...'quirk' was something he could probably grow out of while he was at the Academy. He quietly took a seat before the adult. The blush on his cheeks mellowed out until he turned to to be what could be considered a 'healthy glow'.
no subject
"Well, it seems it seems like you've got things under control, so let's get started." He nodded and continued to keep a close eye on him.
no subject
And there he waited in silence like the good student he tended to be. Really, he wasn't one to do anything that might be considered the deeds of a 'bad student'.
no subject
no subject
"Um...to take notes? Isn't that what you do at the Academy?"
Honestly, Isaac couldn't remember the last time he'd been so studious. Maybe his friends were rubbing off on him.

"Ah..." he scratched his head and blushed, coming to be more relaxed than when he had first walked in. "Oh...I'm sorry to have taken up your time," he chuckled. "I must have looked completely insane, walking in and grabbing my notebook."
He had started packing.
July 9th, 3 PM
Today, after stopping by a few familiar faculty offices, Brock found himself outside Matt's door. Having avoided the mushrooms, he didn't really have any concerns to air, but maybe the psychologist would appreciate a visit that wasn't about neuroses and problems.
So, with a plate of chocolate chip cookies in hand, he knocked on the door.
no subject
Or maybe he was just too willing to let his guard down when it came to sweets, either one.
"Oh, come right in!" He smiled and nodded.
no subject
"I uh...I know this is kind of random but I made way too many so I'm just kind of making the rounds to see if anyone wants any. I'm Brock, by the way."
no subject
"Oh, it's a pleasure, Brock. My name is Matt Campbell."

DON'T WORRY, MY ACTIVITY IS TOO TERRIBLE TO JUDGE
"In any case, I've been shaken up, but I'm confident that I've recovered. I'm much more worried about some of the people that have entered here over the past week." He answered while nodding. "And what about you? You seem to be in good spirits, at least."
i am the slowest everrrr
"Yeah." He nodded. "I managed to avoid the...whatever it was that went around. I guess I'm just worried about everyone else."
It's the slowpoke fight of the century!
"I suspect it was something in the food or water supply." He noted. "Temporary hallucinations are usually a sign of outside factors. Has there been a history of this happening to the school?" Because that would certainly explain how "crazy" he's heard it is.

She eventually convinced herself to pay a visit to the psychology office, seeing as how they know how the mind works, and since they're professionals, they would know how to make things better! In the end, however, she was still pretty nervous. She poked her head into the office. "Hello...?" she said quietly.

"The hallucinations have been overwhelmingly frightening, I'm terrified of what everyone may have seen." If someone as composed as him could be brought down by hallucinations, he could only imagine what happened to everyone else. "Please, explain."

"Hello, Mr. Moretti. May I ask who this is?"

"I suppose we should start by asking just what the hallucinations were about."
