Mikapii was bored. That much was obvious, with the puff looking rather deflated on the couch. He'd run out of places to explore and he was still avoiding his room like the plague should Fang suddenly show up there. ~~They hadn't become bffs yet so doing each other's hair was out of the question!~~

He'd resorted to playing with the pink bow in his hair, tying it so that it sagged to the middle of his face, when a familiar voice called his name. When he jumped up and spied Gold, his face lit up into a smile, "Gold~!"

The ~~little fruitcake~~ jigglypuff skipped over to the trainer, "I didn't wanna stay in my room and there's nothing else to do, sooo..." It was at that point that he noticed his bow was still sagging over his face. He let out a small squeak, turned around, fixed it quickly, and then turned back.

For someone usually so meticulous on keeping his appearance looking nice, that little slip up was enough to cause a light blush to form across his face. "S-so I've just been out here by myself! Kinda boring, really..."

Gold couldn't help but smile when Mikapii skipped to meet him. He stayed quiet while the puff explained himself (snickering at him here and there). When Mikapii was finished, Gold responded with a cheerful, "No way!" He paused, then continued; "There's plenty to do. You could go out in the snow. That's where I just was-"

He stopped again, and looked at the jigglypuff thoughtfully. "You know, we could always do something together." Gold stroked his chin verrrryyyyy thoughtfully.

"Ehh?" Mikapii tilted his head to the side as Gold spoke, taking a moment to think about what he said. Doing something together would be much more fun than staying here by himself! But what could they do ~~aside from each other lol~~?

Finally, he smiled and nodded, "We could! But whaaat~?" He similarly put his hand to his chin, posing in a way that was mirroring Gold.

Gold squinted; he looked so very, very thoughtful. He thought back on things he'd done with his other friends at school. He'd played with butterflies with Lucas, had a snowball fight with Brendan, wished on stars with Bob... "We could go to the city," he suggested, moving his arm back to his side.

"I haven't explored it much. You just got here, so you probably haven't either? That'd make it an adventure."

"Ooh, the city~!" Mikapii echoed, eyes widening in delight, "I've only been to the mall once but it was too snowy to see anything else... I'd love to go~!" He reached out and grabbed both of Gold's hands, swinging both their arms side to side, "Aaand an adventure's even better when you go with friends~!" He stopped swinging for a moment, looking up at Gold, "I mean, I always saw Pokemon trainers going through Goldenrod in groups... ah! But I bet you've been on a whoooole bunch of adventures before too~!"

While Gold may have to get used to talking to Pokemon like they were humans, Mikapii was still getting used to talking to trainers as equals. After all, in Pokemon-form, Mikapii was just another Jigglypuff.

And so, gently tugging Gold's arms now, Mikapii giggled, "Sooo let's go have some adventures then~!"

While he wasn't blushing, Gold's cheeks did get a little warm when Mikapii took his hands. It wasn't that he was embarrassed or nervous; just a little excited. He took Mikapii's dainty hands with his own boyish ones and let them both swing together.

"I don't even know where to start-"

Gold released one of the Jigglypuff's hands and lead him to the stairs. "I know there's a restaurant nearby; I think Lash works there- Lash is the girl with the big afro-" Gold held his free hand near his head, fluffing his invisible afro, "and the lasers. And there's a hotel and a clothing store."

He pursed his lips and looked at Mikapii, "I'm sure there's a lot more, though."

Mikapii happily followed alongside Gold, smiling pleasantly at the fact that he'd continued to hold his hand. It was such a friendly gesture, after all!

And when Gold started fluffy that invisible afro, Mikapii pictured him with one. And then proceeded to giggle. "Weeell, let's go look at everything~! I think I remember where that mall was, and I saw signs inside that seemed like they might have been for a movie theater too!"

It didn't take long for them to go down the stairs, and it certainly seemed like Mikapii was only getting more excited. When they got to the door that led outside, he took a small jump forward so he'd get to the door first, which he then proceeded to hold open for Gold. It was still a bit snowy outside, which Mikapii didn't mind; he'd been wearing his snow boots and winter coat all day in case he wanted to go outside later!

"Okay! Now... we should just pick a direction and go that way to see where it leads!" Mikapii was getting very excited. "...or we could follow the sidewalk. That's okay too~"

A movie theater, huh? He wondered what was playing. ~~After all, a movie and a dinner would be the perfect first date!~~

Gold squinted, glancing down the snowy sleety streets of downtown Final Destination City. As he had explained to Mikapii earlier, he hadn't had much time to explore the city. All of it was pretty exciting and a little overwhelming. He was already writing a letter to his mom in his head. He pointed down the leftmost sidewalk, across the street.

"Let's go that way," he proposed.

Mikapii smiled and nodded, giving Gold's hand a gentle squeeze, "Alright~!" Then, with gusto, he started to skip happily alongside the Pokemon trainer. For a moment, it sounded as though he was going to start humming, but he quickly cut himself off. Humming would make Gold drowsy!

He made sure to keep his balance as he skipped along the icy path, looking around as they ventured deeper into the city. The more they walked, the taller the buildings seemed to become, with Mikapii's eyes looking up higher and higher with each step.

Eventually they reached a street that looked familiar to Mikapii, who right away realized they were nearing the mall. "Ooh ooh! The mall is around here~! I think it's. Uhm." He glanced around, spying a cross walk. "That way!"

Final Destination City was unlike any other city in Johto. The tall buildings and flashing lights were so much to take in. He slid a few times on the slippery sidewalks, but kept steady by tightening his grip on Mikapii's hand.

"Are you sure?" Gold asked, peering over at the crosswalk. He continued to walk, and before the puff was able to respond, they had already reached it. "What kind of stores do they have in the mall? I've never been there before," he said casually, leading the pink boy across the street.

And every time Gold slid on the ice, Mikapii make sure to keep hold of his hand so he wouldn't fall. But that didn't mean he wouldn't giggle ever now and then. Gold, you are so very graceful.

When they got to the mall, Mikapii let out a small cheer of victory and skipped happily up to the front doors, pulling Gold along as he made his way inside. Quickly, the cold from outside faded away and they were greeted with a comforting warmth that lingered throughout the mall. It was fairly busy, likely from people taking advantage of the after-the-holidays sales.

"There's a whooole bunch of stores here~! I didn't even get to see half of them when I came here with Misty!" A bright smile crossed his face, and he held up a hand, counting them off, "There's a candy store and a berry store and a nice-smelling-lotions-and-stuff store and a music store and a bunch of clothing stores... and..." He paused, as though trying to think of the right word.

"...and weird-stuff stores." A slight pout formed on his face. "One was too crowded since it was right before Christmas and there were lots of people, but I couldn't even tell what they were selling! There were a bunch of weird posters up and loud music and it smelled weird walking by..." He trailed off, glancing around before looking back up at Gold with a smile, "So, I'm calling them the weird-stuff stores!"

"A candy store," Gold echoed under his breath, quiet enough to let Mikapii continue. When he finished, Gold wrinkled his nose and replied, "Weird-stuff stores, huh? I've never been in a weird-stuff store. Or a mall, really."

He inhaled sharply and gave the mall a good once over from where the two stood. "My mom sent me some money for Christmas. So if you're hungry, or you want to buy something, I'll take care of it for you!" What a gentleman he was...

Tugging Mikapii's arm, Gold stepped further into the consumer wonderland. There really were a whole bunch of stores. Mostly clothes; Gold even spotted the coat he was wearing in one of the windows- leave it to Bob to get him something you'd see in a window.

"Hey!" Gold shouted, almost abruptly. "I think I see the movie theaters down there." He released Mikapii's hand and darted to the railing and pointing at what, indeed, appeared to be a movie theater. He squinted, trying to make out the Now Playing list. "Where's the escalator?" he asked, now obviously excited.

Mikapii stared up at Gold his his wide blue eyes, "Never been in a mall...? Really?" Goldenrod was pretty large. Naturally they had malls, along with their famous Department store. His expression quickly changed back to a smile, "In that case, then I'll make sure you have a really great time today~!"

And that smile on his face only grew wider at Gold's offer, "Really...? Eee, thank you, Gold~!" Considering most of Mikapii's money went into buying candy for the whole school, Mikapii was of course going to take Gold up on that.

Mikapii was also looking around at all the stores excitedly with Gold, his grip on Gold's hand staying steady and strong. Everything was so big here! It wasn't even as crowded as it had been during Christmas and it was still a little intimidating.

So when Gold released his hand, he gave a little squeak and chased after the Pokemon trainer, not wanting to be separated... knowing Mikapii, he'd get lost very quickly. But as he peered over the railing, the reason for why Gold left so quickly became clear. "Ahah! I knew it was in here somewhere~!" Following Gold's lead, Mikapii's eyes darted around for the way down to the next floor below. Eventually, he spotted the escalator, on the opposite side of the area. "We can get down over there~!"

Grabbing onto Gold's hand again, Mikapii pulled the trainer across the way, skipping all the while, up to the escalator itself... and then he stopped. Most of the malls in Goldenrod had only elevators. And since he and Misty had stayed on one floor, he'd never been on an escalator before. His grip on Gold's hand tightened as he looked up, totally serious, and asked quietly. "...is it safe?"

Goldenrod's department store was probably the largest store Gold had ever been in. Probably one of the biggest buildings, period, before he came to Smash Academy. Gold looked back into Mikapii's eyes with his piercing golden ones and just shrugged.

The trainer followed the little puff to the escalator, keeping a grip as strong as Mikapii's had been just a few seconds ago. He kept up with the Jigglypuff's skipping with a powerwalk. Skipping just wasn't his thing...

When they reached the escalator, Gold looked down on it with distaste. "Sure they're safe," he said, watching people get onto the moving steps and getting off at the lower level. "Come on. Let's go." He squeezed Mikapii's hand and stepped onto the escalator.

Mikapii decided to trust Gold, since plenty of other people were using the escalator no problem, and so he stepped onto it behind the Pokemon trainer.

Naturally, the first thing he did was flail and very nearly fall over, clinging onto Gold's hand and arm for support, "Uwaahh!!" Thankfully, his other arm clung onto the rail, so he didn't topple the poor trainer over! "A-Ah, sorry!" There was an embarrassed blush and a pout on his face, which he was trying to very hard to ignore.

Not even getting off was graceful, where he tripped again while trying to step off and, once more, ran into Gold, "Wah! S-Sorry!" He pouted his lip and sighed, "I'm... not really that clumsy! It was the esca... escalalator-thing! It tripped me!"

Only Mikapii could honestly attempt such an argument.

Gold snickered the first time Mikapii lost his balance. The second time, he bit his lip and helped the Jigglypuff up again. "I believe you," he said, smiling back at the pouting puff. "It's okay. You don't need to appologize." His grin widened, and he turned his attention back to finding the movie theater again.

"If I remember correctly," he mused, putting a finger to his chin, "It should be that way." He moved his hand, pointing.

"Come on Mikapii," Gold said, "I'll race you!"

Mikapii gave a tiny sigh of relief that Gold just dropped the topic, but at the same time it was still embarrassing!

Someday, he shall conquer the escalalalator.

Watching as Gold pointed in the direction he'd seen the theater, Mikapii was very nearly spaced out when Gold suddenly proposed a race. Considering how clumsy the puff had just proven itself moments ago, now was his chance at redemption! After all, he knew how to run fast with just two little scrawny feet... in human form, he had full-sized legs! "You're on~!"

Without waiting for a chance to start a fair countdown, Mikapii playfully pushed past the trainer and skipped off in the direction of the theater, mockingly waving back at him with a giggle. "Can't catch meeee~!"

Gold sputtered, frozen for a few seconds as the Jigglypuuff took off without him. He recovered quickly, darting through the crowd of people and sprinting to catch up with Mikapii.

"Yeah right," Gold taunted, passing the puff by just a few feet, "I could beat you without even trying."

"Eh...!?" Was all Mikapii could do in reaction to Gold suddenly sprinting off ahead. He let out a small whine and tried to catch up, but as the movie theater came into view, that seemed less and less likely.

Eventually he got there, out of breath and pouting. "No faaaair!" He pretended to pound his little fists on Gold's chest, acting more upset than he actually was for dramatic effect.

When he got there, Gold did a little victory lap around the movie theater's ticket booth. As Mikapii punched on his chest, Gold put his hands to his hips and just grinned at the pink-haired puff. "I win! Better luck next time," he said, patting Mikapii on the head.

He moved away from ~~his date~~ the Jigglypuff, and went to lean on the velvet ropes of the ticket line. He looked up at the list of movies, then back at Mikapii. "Come over here," he said, wiggling his fingers at the other boy.

"Do you want to see anything?" he asked loudly. He pointed up at the marquee, squinting a little. "Never heard of most of these..."

Mikapii swatted away the Pokemon trainers hand when he was petted. Mikapii was in human form! You didn't pet humans! ...right? Maybe Gold was just special!

He quickly turned his attention to the list of movies, also unable to recognize any of the titles. "Mmm, I don't know... how should we pick...?" He frowned for a moment, but then got an idea! He took a step away so he wouldn't run into anyway, extended in arm, and started to spin. He then stopped, and opened his eyes, only to find... he was facing the wrong way!

So, he tried again; only this time, he managed to stop successfully on a random movie poster! However, as soon as he stopped, he flailed and fell down to his knees, mumbling something about being too dizzy to see straight.

Gold pouted slightly, holding his hand out to the fallen Pokemon. "The Lampshade," he read slowly, sounding out each syllable. "Never heard of it," he mused. "Let's go get tickets!"

He reached into his back pocket with his free hand and retrieved his (Staryu-decorated) wallet. "Snacks are on me," he added, grinning.

Mikapii, too, was confused by the oddly named movie, but made no comment as he took Gold's hand and made sure to watch his step as they headed to the ticket booth. "Okaay!"

And when Gold offered to pay for snacks, the Jigglypuff's eyes grew wide and sparkling, "Uwaaah, really~? You're so nice, Gold~! C-Can we get popcorn and candy and soda a-and stuff~?"

Releasing his hand after helping him up, Gold swore he could see a glimmer in Mikapii's eyes when he made his offer for sweets and popcorn. "Yeah, of course!" he said, chuckling modestly. "Don't mention it." Quietly, Gold paid for their movie, exchanging small bills and spare change for tickets.

He handed one of the tickets to Mikapii and ushered him to the concession stand. "You can get whatever you want," he added. Looking up at the over-sized, lit-up menu- covered in pictures of hot dogs and popcorn and oddly-shaped novelty cups- Gold reached over to hold Mikapii's hand again.

Mikapii happily took the ticket from Gold, making no effort to hide the delighted smile on his face as he skipped alongside the trainer.

When Gold reached out for his hand again, Mikapii took it willingly and gave it a gentle squeeze, "There's so much stuff to pick from...!" He looked over the menu for a moment before squeezing Gold's hand again and looking up at him, "Hmm, if we got something big, then we could share it~! Like a biiig tub of popcorn and a soda!" He tilted his head to the side before adding, "If you don't mind sharing with me~?"

"Heh! Of course I don't mind sharing," Gold replied, nodding. Another exchange over a counter and a minute or two later, Gold was struggling with a giant bucket popcorn, and an over-sized cup of orange soda. He wrestled the popcorn under his left arm and eventually got the soda under his right (still holding his ticket between his forefingers). Ungracefully, he leaned over to grab the two boxes of candy with his teeth, promptly spilling a few popcorn kernels and a bit of soda on the already-sticky floor.

"Ahr reary!" he attempted to speak through his teeth, grinning as best he could.

As Gold attempted to gather everything up in his arms, Mikapii just smiled and giggled. "Teehee~ Heey, come on, I can help too!" He reached over and grabbed both boxes of candy, seeing as Gold already got the soda and popcorn situated, and he didn't want to make the trainer spill everything!

He smiled up at Gold and nodded once, "There! That's better~ Now I can see your face again!" With another giggle he skipped towards the theater entrance, walking backwards so he could face Gold as he walked, "Where should we sit once we're inside? In the front, or in the back~?"

"Right in the middle," Gold responded without missing a beat. He walked slowly- making sure he didn't drop anything- following Mikapii to the theater's velvet red doors. He hurried ahead of the puff and opened the door with his shoulder.

"Come on, I think it's gonna start in a few minutes," he urged, holding the door open for Mikapii.

He glanced over at the seats, noting that a lot of them were already filled. Who knew so many people would be coming to see the mysterious Lampshade on a Thursday afternoon? Gold didn't really mind; he just hoped they'd be able to find good seats.

Mikapii nodded to Gold and skipped along inside, not wanting to miss any of the movie! He looked over the crowd for some seats and spied two right next to each other, in the middle of the center row. "Ooh, there's perfect~!"

Of course, they'd have to push by all the people already sitting, but they were small; that wouldn't be so hard! Although Mikapii's floofy skirt did manage to get pushed up once or twice, causing the Pokemon to squeak and blush by the time he got to his seat and smoothed it back down. Once he was sitting, he reached up towards Gold, offering to hold the big popcorn and drink while the trainer got situated.

Gold shuffled awkwardly behind Mikapii, trying to keep as much of the popcorn and drink in their respective containers and trying to make sure he wasn't accidentally elbowing anyone in the face. When Mikapii sat down, Gold promptly handed him the bucket of popcorn. He muscled the drink into the cup holder that divided their seats before sitting down.

"These seats are perfect," he exclaimed, beaming at the screen in front of them. He reached over, grabbing the popcorn and pulling it into his lap. Soon enough, the lights dimmed and the silver screen reminded the occupants of the theater to silence their cell phones, pagers, codecs and other such devices.

Gold scooted a little closer to the arm rest, tucking his legs beneath himself and touching shoulders with the other boy.

Mikapii nodded in agreement as Gold took back the popcorn he had set in his lap moment ago, and then leaned back as the movie began to start. His eyes were transfixed on the wide, bright screen. He'd only been to a movie theater a few times before in Goldenrod; most had a Pokemon-must-remain-in-ball policy, except for certain days. But now that he was human, he could go whenever he wanted to!

His heart turned from the screen when he felt something on his shoulder and saw that it was Gold. He paused for a moment, considering something... and then went ahead and rearranged himself on the seat so he was sitting sideways with his head resting on the trainer's shoulder.

Mikapii had always been cuddly with his siblings, so he saw nothing wrong with being the same with his friends!

Gold thought nothing of Mikapii changing his position. Actually, Gold repositioned himself as well, leaning his head on Mikapii's. And as soon as the trailers started, Gold grabbed a handful of popcorn and shoved it into his mouth.

[and then... they watched a movie?]

Mikapii smiled brightly and nuzzled his face against Gold, feeling rather comfortable now as the movie began!

The scene opens and a boy meets a girl on a subway station. A fight ensues as a drunken man attempts to hit on said girl, and the boy bravely throws him off the subway at the next stop. He is hailed as a hero!

The next day, the girl invites the boy over to thank him. The girl, no longer dressed up as they were the day before, is revealed to a boy. After a few days of awkward courtship, the two begin a romance.

Meanwhile, the not-a-girl boy's family learns of his crossdressing escapes getting him in trouble with drunken men on subways and he is confined to his room. In his room, he sees his fathers prized lamp and shatters it, wishing his father was dead.

The next day, the father dies in a mysterious accident.

The not-a-girl boy fears it was his fault, and seeks comfort with the other boy. He invites him over and, in his emotional state, things start getting heavy. Then, he notices the lamp that he broke before.

Still sitting in the room.

The boys have a strange argument about how it got there, until a typhoon knocks out all the lights in the neighborhood.

And yet that one lamp stays on.

DUN DUN DUNNNNN.

When the lights went up again, the tub of popcorn was still half full, the straw looked a little chewed-on, and both candy boxes lay empty and discarded at their feet. And Gold was clinging tightly to the Jigglypuff's arm closest him.

He slowly moved away from Mikapii, but still looked a little upset. The other people around them started to slowly shuffle out of the theater and the employees stood near the exits, brooms in hand. Gold looked to Mikapii, frowning. "That was kind of creepy," he said slowly, breaking the silence.

When the movie ended, Mikapii couldn't help feeling... confused. Why was the lamp so evil!? It was weird! Maybe Mikapii just didn't understand much of what was going on, already confused by the sudden man-on-man action towards the middle.

But when the puff looked down at Gold, who was clinging to his arm as though his very life depended on it, his expression changed to a sympathetic smile, "Yeah, a little bit..." He stretched his arm upwards and patted Gold on top of his head, "But it was just a movie, right~? Nothing to be scared of... right?"

Gold cracked an awkward smile, gingerly releasing Mikapii's arm from his deathgrip. "You're right, it was just a movie..." he said, half to himself. He sighed, and stood up, stretching his arms over his head. "I didn't really understand it that much," he admitted, contorting his face slightly.

He held his hand out for Mikapii, his somewhat troubled expression remained. "Come on, let's check out the rest of the mall."

Mikapii got up as well, but despite what Gold said, he still looked a little upset! So, thinking back to what he did when he was upset, he pulled on Gold's hand and then gently embraced the trainer in a warm hug.

But then, that scene from the movie suddenly flashed through his mind, and he jerked back with a slight blush on his face. He stared for a moment, before quickly turning around and attempting to laugh it off, "H-Haah, yeah, let's... g-go do that~!!" He grabbed Gold by the hand, still facing away, and pulled the other boy towards the exit.

When Mikapii wrapped his little arms around the trainer, Gold couldn't help but smile. He closed his eyes and returned the hug. As Mikapii pulled away, Gold kept his grip on Mikapii's hand. That did make him feel a little better. He offered a quiet mumbled, "thank you," and followed Mikapii out.

"Hey, maybe we could go check out those "stuff stores" you were talking about," he suggested, looking as if he had already completely forgotten the movie. He paused, but spoke up again, excitedly, "Or we could go buy candy or some trading cards!"

"Hmm..." Mikapii put his free hand to his chin in thought, walking along out of the theater and back into the mall. "...maybe some of the "stuff stores" have candy or cards and stuff! We won't know unless we look~" Then, glancing back at the trainer, he added, "And if they don't, I know where the candy store is, because I've been there before!"

He trotted along the walking area, his eyes glancing around for one of those weird stores... when he spotted one! "Oh! That's kinda like the one I saw before!"

Little did they know what would await them in this shop...
