EVERYONE SUCKS AT PHYSICS: THE MOVIE: THE GAME: THE ANIME: THE ACTION FIGURE: THE OPEN LOG

Who: Falcon, Pit, everyone who sucks at physics or doesn't suck at physics or just wants to have a study party or just wants to bother Falcon or faculty lurkers or anything ever.
What: A 3-kg object is released from rest at a height of 5m on a curved frictionless ramp. At the foot of the ramp is a spring of force constant k = 100 N/m. The object slides down the ramp and into the spring, compressing it a distance x before coming to rest. Does the object continue to move after it comes to rest? If yes, how high will it go up the slope before it comes to rest?
When: The afternoon of Friday the thirteenth, after school.
Where: Falcon's awesome science classroom of awesome science.
Rating: PG-13.

So everyone sucked at physics. Which was really nothing new to Falcon. Most people sucked at physics. Tutoring sessions had always been an inevitable constant. The Captain had agreed to spend some time helping Pit, but he knew how these things worked. Pit would invite a few people, who would invite a few people, and in five minutes flat it would be a regular party. Which was not necessarily the way he wanted to spend a Friday afternoon, but he had to try and help the students save their grades, or at least give them some kind of encouragement. He was a teacher and that was his job.

Still hoping that it would be just Pit (but somehow knowing it wouldn't be), he hadn't really bothered to do anything to the classroom to make it more conducive to the study party. Instead, he was seated at the desk, feet propped, watching porn computer in his lap, waiting for the angel to show.

[It is day thirteen of No-Shave November and Dougie Jay's beard is glorious. Or horrendous. It's a fine line.

Feel free to jump in wherever and whenever! Make threads! Bother whoever! Ask Falcon physics questions! Ask Falcon awkward questions that have nothing to do with physics! Ask Falcon for life advice! Make up a lab! Blow things up! Get answers! Maybe!]

"Hhhhhhheeeeeello, Mr. Falcon!" Larry sheepishly entered the classroom with his folder. "I heard you were tutoring and I thought I'd stop by!" Okay, Larry wasn't do as awful in Physics as the last two times at least. It could have been trouble paying attention, boredom, confusion or a combination of the three. Trying to be an okay guy and not having to take physics AGAIN, he supposed it'd help to show he at least CARED.

"..." He concentrated on Falcon's beard. "You know, I've tried growing a beard once. Didn't work. Facial hair on me looks really bad. I don't get it, my dad has a huge beard!" Not related to physics, Larry.

And it was in due time that the angel showed, promptly after Larry's arrival, so Falcon never got to reply properly. He made sure to bring his bookbag and his notes and his best thinking cap, but only fate could decide whether it was screwed on correctly today. Pit caught Falcon at his desk and Larry nearby, and his lips tugged into a smile.

"Captain, I'm he-ere," he sang, even though he may have already known.

A beautiful blue entrance!

Max walked in. He was also on day 13 of No-Shave November and Max had... Max had a beautiful soul patch. The sort of soul patch most punk rawkers would only stare at, wistfully, wishing it were theirs.

But he was here to learn him some physics. Boy howdy. Physics.

But as this was cutting into his weightlifting time he also had a dumbbell in one hand - it was one of the special gravity ones that Andy had made, so it was like 300 lbs or something, Max didn't even know anymore. It was just a lot.

He was doing curls as he walked in.

After her conversation with Pit, Daisy was ready to join in the study party. She had her textbook under her arm as she let herself into the room. "Hey, the study group's in here, right?"

"I'm supposed to be liftin' weights now. But I need help with physics. Don't worry, it'll just run on autopilot," he said gesturing to the object of Falcon's emasculation in action.

Mac rushed in with his bookbag. In it was filled with papers, binders, and--oh--there was his textbook. Mac sat down with the others.

"Okay! Let's learn some Physics!"

He tried sounded cheerful about it...but deep inside, he knew Physics was Physics. Bleh.

Bulba was a little late.

As soon as he had noticed that it was more than just Pit having trouble with his homework, the pokemon had gotten straight to work. Notes needed grabbed and rearranged for additional clarity, old homework sheets and examples slipped in chronologically with the according chapter notes along with unit tests. Was everything properly labeled? Would someone not accustomed to the set of notes be able to comprehend the order? What else did he think would be helpful...?

He arrived shortly after Mac, two plump binders under one arm and his text book in the other. There was a half a second where Bulbasaur looked absolutely mortified since Falcon was starting things. He was late.

"S-sorry I'm late ba! I'm here to help!"

Pit just about died as he moaned this. "Conveeeeersions." He pretended to lose his life on the nearest desk.

Kirby was at the back, oddly cheerful...and not exactly paying attention.

He was busy scribbling something down, though.

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Mac quickly got out some of his papers from his bag. The quicker he moved he thought, the quicker questions would be solved and things would be understood. Maybe his questions were the same as Pit's and everyone else's?

"Actually." Mac spoke up finally, directing himself at Falcon. "I have a couple of questions about the homework."

"I'm in the same boat as Pit," Daisy chimed in.
givemeyouranswerdo: (Oh hi there)

"Temperature for me," she said.

Max, at this point, was doing tricep extensions behind his head with the dumbbell. It was terribly manly. Manly enough that even R.O.B. would have understood it as such.

"What's a newton? Other than a cookie. The not-cookie one."

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks, sir. See, I'm havin' trouble with these conversion problems here. I don't get 'em."

Mac handed Falcon his homework sheet. The questions he left blank were circled in red ink to indicate which ones Mac had a problem with. Mac used his finger and pointed to them though just in case.

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
If Pit could emit sounds to show how stupid he was, there would be a loud "DEEEEEEERRR" coming from his spot. He came in thinking all of his problems would be amended, but it was just as confusing as class time.

"I..." He blushed.

Kirby needed to stay awake to get this homework done. But listening to the teacher talk was a little...

His head met the surface of the desk before he woke up again.

The perfect time for Lash to burst into the room, trying to avoid Raiden and Hawke for the time being.

"What did I miss?"

[identity profile] boxingmidget.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Lash took Mac away from his attempt in focus. Looking at his homework, some of his blank problems were done as some of them were temperature conversions. He wasn't sure he totally understood all of what Falcon said...but he was trying.

"Oh, hey, Lash! We were just goin' over some stuff."

"Really?"

She sat down, dumping her books in the desk rather loudly before looking at the board and giving a small giggle.

"Oh he started you guys off easy, I see."

[identity profile] tank-rockarms.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"So I'm usin' newtons when I'm movin' this thing, 'cause it's movin' like a meter when I do it and it weighs more than a kilogram," said Max, who had fiddled a dial with his thumb and was back to doing curls again, but this time with more weight.

"How many pounds is a kilogram again?"
givemeyouranswerdo: (WTF?)

[personal profile] givemeyouranswerdo 2009-11-14 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy, meanwhile, was just scribbling down notes, and a few doodles.
