In need of warm clothes? The only solution is to go shopping!

What: A forever log Jeff and Pit go ~*~shopping~*~
When: Oct. 7, afternoon
Where: BE-8, then downtown
Rating: PG-13 for possible language

Jeff had just finished the last of his homework. Gazing out the winter, he wrinkled his nose in disapproval. The weather seemed to be getting colder and colder. Considering it was already October, that was understandable. But Jeff came from a place that was warm almost all year round. He had never been a fan of cold weather. The blond particularly despised snow.

But since he was at school, there wasn't much he could do about it. Thankfully he had come prepared and packed quite a few heavy outfits. All designer names, of course. He briefly wondered how some of the other students dealt with the cold. Some seemed more used to it than others. His mind wandered to his roommate. Jeff somewhat doubted they had seasons up in Angel Land. But whatever, it wasn't really any of his business.

If Jeff were to hurl the question at Pit, he would have been right. There were no seasons in Angel Land- well, in Skyworld, to be more precise. Even then, the seasons below Angel Land's heavenly skies weren't much different from the next if you ignore summer's bumbling heat. This was the sole reason Pit found himself shivering in the autumn chill.

Summer welcomed his typical wardrobe with open arms, but as the temperature dropped, Pit's bare skin winced at the uncomfortable bleakness. It actually made him want to keep his uniform on sometimes, despite how he loathed it. People told him of the seasons and how the leaves die and snow arrives, and with that brings frigid air. Pit knew about seasons. He'd seen it from the skies, but that was as far as his experience with them went, aside from the cold gloom of the Underworld. His skin was so sensitive to those nippy drafts that brushed past his face and arms and legs. The heat of summer wasn't so bad, not bad at all. Spring had mild temperatures, much like he was used to. But fall... this was different. It was so cold!

Pit was just arriving back to their dorm, still a little clammy due to having just been outside. When he shut the door behind him, a rather pronounced shiver coursed through his body as he grinned at Jeff. For the time being, he wore was his exomis getup (http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u6/ShadowSchemer/Pit.jpg), the outfit he tended to wear on most occasions since it enabled him the best freedom of movement- he was a fighter, after all, and he trained a lot. "Hi, Jeff," he greeted as he moved away from the doorway to get settled in before heading out to football practice- his regular schedule as of late.

A sullen pout pulled on his lips as he gave Jeff a perturbed face. "It's not a toga," he clarified indignantly as he shoved a foot against the wall, fixing his sandalboots. He looked away and focused on his minor task. "I have more clothes. You've seen. It's just the clothing that we wear in Angel Land."

His shoulders rose up and down in a shrug. "They're comfortable. I like them." His toes did get chilly, especially when the sun set. If he stayed out too late, the cold would bite and make them itchy. Nonetheless, he liked his sandals and preferred to keep them on, unless the option to run around barefoot came up.

Pit thought about Jeff's comment for a few moments. He leveled his foot back onto the ground and watched the wall do nothing. Dead on the spot again, Jeff; he did not possess a single coat, a single scarf, no mittens, not a sweater... Zilch. Besides his school uniform, everything else he owned could actually be called a blanket. The material was so breathable and thin. Pit did not consider this a bad thing- he was used to ancient tunics from antiquity and they were practical and easy to wear.

Well, practical, except for that winter was approaching. Skyworld to Pit: It snowed here.

"No, I don't. I never had to own anything to protect me from the cold."

Pit's body rotated about to meet Jeff, who was getting ready to leave with him all of a sudden. He stared for a good while with his mouth hinged open before a response crawled out. "...Huh? All of a sudden? Just like that?" He wasn't sure if he had time before football practice. In fact, he was certain of it.

The options were set. Either go to practice or follow Jeff on his oddly considerate mission to buy him new clothes suitable for the cooling weather. Pit knew he should really go to football practice, but... at the same time, going somewhere on an adventure with Jeff sounded tempting. It was a change from the monotonous schedule of school and football practice and everything in between. Did he need to practice so much? It was just one day! He could skip! Ahh, but he felt so guilty... What to do...

"Um... okay!" He didn't need to do much to get ready, so he was at Jeff's side in a tick. He could explain to Falcon and Max later! Oh boy, he didn't usually do these kind of things- skip out on important meets. He couldn't think of anything special happening on this day when it came to football, so, as he assured himself for the millionth time, one day of his absence wouldn't hurt. He needed to find an opportunity to find warmer articles of clothing to wear, anyway. The air was only going to get colder, and this weekend he was leaving for Angel Island with Knuckles and friends. He wouldn't be able to find much time otherwise- his weekend was full!

"My uniform has pants," he mentioned, "but I don't know if that counts. I have hardly anything other than what I brought." His eyes were darting from person to person to sign to light to everything. So much to see- it was always like this in the city. He continued off that tidbit with a question. "Do I have to wear pants?"

[identity profile] pitticus.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Pit nodded fervently to push his point. "I do! It's just that I don't normally need to unless they get dirty. Besides, I'm always forced into that stupid uniform anyway."

Pit held a certain dislike for the uniform. He didn't like the shoes very much. The pants bothered him sometimes, but only to an infinitesimal degree. The shirt proved difficult to put on and take off sometimes. He wondered how he was going to appreciate the new clothes he was going to find today... MAYBE he wouldn't mind so much! Give it a try. Besides, it would protect him from the seasonal chill.

Truth be told, everything caught Pit's attention. He continuously tried imagining himself in various items of clothing, unsure which would look okay on him. There were so many different types...

The uncertainty showed on his face. A glancing breeze caused him to scarcely shudder. "Gee..." he voiced. "I don't know. There sure are a lot of stores, aren't there?" Maybe Jeff could help him out? Something told him he might be willing.

"Hey, that's nice of them!" accredited Pit with a firm wingflap. His eyes were immediately set to roam around the entire store. Once again, a wide variety was available for him to choose from and he didn't know where to begin. Puffy coats, plaids, fleece, slick raincoats, parkas, hoodies... of course, Pit didn't know what to name any of them except for a brief description pertaining their appearances. "For a second, I was worried. I wondered, 'Aaa, how would I ever stuff my wings into these guys.' Then again, I probably could, but that can't be comfortable." He laughed at the picture in his mind.

The angel began to wander. His feet carried him idly across the shiny floor so that he could pinch the jacket sleeve nearest to him. He hummed lightly along with the tune of the music that quietly drifted through the store without knowing it. He let go of it and continued his slow voyage.

"Hmm..." Pit cogitated a moment with a finger over his lip. "I'm not sure what I like yet. I know I don't want anything too heavy. So... something a little lighter would be nice." He poked a quilted coat and frowned at its pillow-like puffiness. It would be like wearing a tent. "Not like this. Blah."

"Let's go find some, then," Pit suggested with a smile. This seemed promising.

"Brown brown brown," Pit repeated as he sorted through outerwear. Luckily, there were a lot of dark colors, and brown happened to be one of them. There were many different styles, as he continued to find out. Some buttoned up, some zipped up. Some had belts. Different materials seemed to pop up, too, but they all looked water-resistant, which was why, Pit assumed, they were called raincoats.

But... yellow was so eye-catching! He also liked green, and there was a bright green (http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_430xN.89775424.jpg) one over there. He took it off the rack and kept looking it over.

"What do you think of this one?" he asked, shoving it in Jeff's general direction.
