Archery #1
Characters: Shinon, students
What: Archery class
Where: Some classroom somewhere
When: mmm Friday the 10th.
Rating: PG-13
If you're awesome enough to want to learn from the master about archery, you'll walk in to find Shinon sitting lazily in a chair in the front of the room. He looks tired, worn out, and still just a little out of it. When you walk in, he'll either glare at you or pretend he didn't see you. There is nothing on the board and nothing on the desks or around the room, but Shinon has a bow slung in his hands and there is a single target plastered to the back wall.
The moment the bell rings, Shinon heaves himself up and scrawls on the board the following:
He then strides past the desks, sliding each student what looks like a section of a ripped sheet of paper. He returns to the front of the room, sitting back down and tapping the floor with the end of his bow.
"Fill that out and give it to me when you're done."
++++
Once the archer receives all the papers, he stands up and puts them on his desk.
"Welcome to Archery. I hope you're in here for a good reason, but I’ll figure that out later. I’m Shinon."
"Today, I'm going to go over what archery is, in case you have no idea and your feet just led you in here for one reason or another."
"Archery is, undoubtedly, a critical element in battle strategy. A typical archer is behind the frontlines and must be able to take down foes from a distance. It also takes agility and a keen eye to perform correct archery, as well as a good grasp on where to shoot a person, especially if that person is covered in armor. However, if you're worried you're too weak to be an archer, I’ve got good news for you: it doesn’t rely on strength as much as you'd think. Using a bow is less of a power thing and more of a mechanical thing."
Shinon raises his bow with his hand on the grip, dangling it in front of the class. "This is a bow. And this is an arrow," he says as he pulls an arrow out of the quiver with his right hand. "Here's what you do with them."
With almost impossible precision, Shinon carelessly loads the arrow properly into the bow, pulls back, and the arrow whizzes through the air, past the students' heads, and hits the target in the back of the room dead-center. If anyone cared to study Shinon’s face, he looks tired and bored. He waited for the attention to drift back to him.
"I'm not here to teach you worms about the whole history of archery, but I do have a few tips to give you. First off, you're not learning how to use a bow in a year. It doesn't work that way. Second off," Shinon paused and sighed dramatically before he continued. "Listen to every word that comes out of my mouth. I swear. If you choose to be an ass and not listen to me, then I ain’t teaching you jack. Got it?"
"Another important element to archery is making a bow. Sure, not all archers make their own bows, but let me tell you, the bows you buy at shops are worth shit. I hate 'em," Shinon growled, stroking his bow absentmindedly with his thumb. "This one here, I made myself. When a true archer makes a bow, they're usually more expensive than the others and may be out of your army's price range, so knowing how to make your own is far better for you and your company. Plus, you can make it your trade and you get good money off it. I don’t care which you're here to learn, as long as you're willing to learn it."
"So, then, your first assignment is easy. I want you to give me something with your name on it. Underneath that, I want you to give me your height in centimeters. I'll be using this information to fit you to a bow. Got it? It’s not that hard. Give it to me today or during my next lesson. As long as I get it before we start shooting, I don't care, but the sooner the better, you hear?"
With that, Shinon glares at his class expectantly in case there are any questionsthat he doesn't want to answer.

Why are you in here; I've used plenty of other projectile weapons before, but never a bow and arrow. I think it would be an interesting challenge to learn.
Jeff turned in the sheet as quietly and politely as possible, because this guy definitely seemed like the kind of guy he did not want to piss off at all. He already seemed pretty irritated at everything, jeez.

Man, this felt somewhat weird - he was smaller than most of the class, even Sonic.
He was definitely getting the smallest bow.
