Political Science R2 #2 - Debates Part 2

What: The candidates for President and Vice President square off!

Well, last week was an incontestable mess. If only the Hands hadn't insisted on writing the questions... But at least this week their interference was kept reasonably at a minimum. And now it was time for the debates that actually MATTERED.

"Welcome back to POLITICAL SCIENCE!!" Robotnik declared, standing at the podium, testing the microphone. The debate podiums were set up just as they were last time. "This week we're going to FINISH the debates, with our VICE PRESIDENT and PRESIDENT candidates! The rules are the same as last time. We will start with the Vice President candidates and end with the President candidates. I will moderate. Now LET'S GET THIS STARTED!!"

Now, let's introduce our CANDIDATES FOR VICE PRESIDENT!!

Knuckles had, of course, prepared for this whole thing sort of at the last minute. He'd had a lot of other stuff going on and though he wanted to do a good job, he hadn't really come up for air long enough to make anything new. He wore his new suit, though changed the bowtie out for a more standard tie and vest, and on the monitors played his campaign video for those who hadn't yet seen it.

He waved to the crowd... especially a certain blonde who he knew was going to be there... and stated his name.

"Knuckles the Echidna - Nice to be here."

Goombella was in the audience, of course. And she was applauding his suave entrance.

He couldn't resist shooting her a wink and blowing her a quick kiss. With her there to watch he felt like he was a shoe-in to win. He felt invincible... he could almost see white stars swirling around himself.

*Oh yeah? Well two can make an awesome entrance.*

I'm Daisy! *takes a podium*

And now, what I'm sure you all came here to see, the CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT!!!

No fancy entrances for Peach; she walked to her spot with grace, waved at the rest of the class, and folded her hands on the podium. One of her new campaign buttons had been pinned to her crisp, pink blouse and she had fixed her hair up in a neat ponytail.

"Princess Peach," she said, smiling, "running for president of the Student Council."

Mario almost felt going "Wooooo, go-a princess. Knock 'em dead!" But unfortunately, that's not really his nature, nor style. So instead, Mario's going to wave from the audience and hope she notices? Oh yeah, that's always a great technique Mario..

After spotting Mario in the small crowd, Peach sent him a small smile and a dainty wave.

♥! *OMG I'm rooting for you!!*

'Ode to Orange Kid' played as Orange Kid walked confidently up to the podium. "I'm Orange Kid, the greatest inventor in the school, and soon to be President of student council!"

This question is addressed to BOTH OF YOU. What makes you think you're QUALIFIED to run the student council?!

"Because I'm me! I'm an amazing genius, I'm qualified for anything!"

"Before coming to Smash Academy- and even while here- I've been the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. I've had experience listening to what the people of the Mushroom Kingdom want, protecting them and keeping them happy." Peach paused to smile at Orange Kid. "I've also been elected as President of the Student Council all my years of attending Smash Academy."

This next question is ALSO addressed to the both of you! What would you consider your opponent's greatest WEAK POINT?

Peach hesitated before answering. "I think Orange Kid is an... interesting opponent. He is a bit unrealistic and can be kind of arrogant." She frowned, before adding, "Nothing personal, Orange Kid. I think this election will be quite the nail-biter."

"Her intellect!" Orange Kid stated quite bluntly.

"That was rude!" Peach returned, frowning crossly.

"Really? I'm sorry, but everyone's intellect is a weak point when compared to mine, I'm afraid! And it's not as if you're being any less rude, maam. I simply have no idea where you got the idea that I'm arrogant from, or that I even have any weak points at all!"

QUESTION 3!!!

Assuming an unlimited budget, what would be your first order of business?
