PK WRENCH
Characters: Ness, Andy
What: BE-10's old resident meets its new one for the lulz and the awesome
Where: ...BE-10!
When: October 6th, mid-afternoon
Rating: PG, probably PG-13 at the worst
For Ness, not much had changed during Crazy Hand's spur-of-the-moment room and room mate shift; his old roomie Silver had already packed up and left, leaving him a good several days to enjoy the entire living space to himself before it was undoubtedly filled up by another incoming student. And sure enough, as his peers had complained over the school's blogging system the personal belongings of a mysterious someone had showed up on the opposite side of the room, out of the blue, in the middle of the night. Surprised - and a little concerned - as he was, Ness figured it was best to wait and see if his room mate showed up sometime that day before asking unnecessary questions.
He sat at his desk, going over his Physics homework with some upbeat jazz-blues (yup, the Runaway Five) playing in the background, ultimately biding his time until that yet-unknown student stuck the key in the lock and opened the door.

Very, VERY lost. You see, Andy (One of Orange Star's COs and Veteran of the MacroLand and CosmoLand Wars) was very used to planning and using maps to direct himself... But common sense wasnt something that he could pick up from ground up.
"Gaaah... I swear, Last time we did reckon, Grits and Max's Room was over here... And now we are supposed to be... um... here?"
Pulling out a compass from his small keepsack, he waddled around until he finally hit it. The door to BE-10 was lively with a few notes here and there of a jazzy kind. It was a plain old door, but it looked like photographs and other memorabilia was taken recently. The only thing left was a small nameplate in it... It read:
BE-10
Ness &
The part after that was left blank... Andy thought it was probably an old roommate or a vacant room. He scratched his head while getting out his keys and unlocking the door...

However, Ness wasn't exactly the sort of person who'd jump up out of his chair and stand two inches from the door as it was opened in order to greet his new room mate. No, he was a little more laid-back than that, and he demonstrated this by remaining in his seat and simply turning his head to the doorway, ready to cast a friendly, welcoming smile to whoever happened to walk in. Judging from the personal effects already scattered about the room he probably wasn't going to be one of those powderpuff lightweight types - no, more like the...heavyduty type? Ness was reminded a little of that Max fellow he'd seen in Sex Ed.

Andy Opened the door, leaving his Army Rucksack near the door. He was a little surprised that his roommate happened to be another kid just like him. He noticed his weird, yet fitting stripped shirt and thought of him as a cute bee.
"Hey There... um... Ness? Right? The Name is Andy, Orange Star's CO and your new roommate! Nice to meetcha!"
Andy looked around, there was enough space to set up just as he planned! He had some plans before hand; Wrench Collection to the left of the Medals and Army Pics. Perhaps a little paint to liven up the place... Oh wait! There was the new kiddo, Andy was a bit off daydreaming again...
"...Soooo... Where are you from? Ness is a rather uncommon name, Im curious. By the way, which bed is yours?"
Andy got his rucksack inside and closed the door, he sat down on the floor looking at the new kid as a new friend already.

Ness grinned and swiveled in his seat to face Andy, nodding. "Yep, I'm Ness. Nice to meet you too, Andy!" Orange Star, CO, what was all that? He'd thought he'd maybe heard the name once or twice in passing in the hallway but as of yet had no idea what it was.
"Haha! Yeah, it is a bit different, isn't it?" Truth be told Ness wasn't sure himself how his parents had decided to name him. His eyes drifted to his own unmade bed as Andy called attention to it and he hopped out of his seat with a bit of an embarrassed look, headed straight over to it and pulled the sheets over the pillow neatly. "Aheh, this one's mine." Figuring this was a good time for an information exchange as Andy seemed to be starting anyway, Ness sat on his bed, looking down at the boy on the floor before him.
"I'm from Onett, a small town in Eagleland. It's a bit of a ways from here. How about you?"

Andy stood up, cleared one of the desks from the morning dust and took out some maps and other Wars memorabilia. He sat next to Ness in his bed and displayed the different Wars regions. He also took out his special Star Medal to show it to Ness as proof of CO status.
"Say, this is all about me, I like to build and fix mechanical things! Thats why I have so many wrenches... for the more classified mechanical parts that make up most of our equipment! Not to mention that I like to make new stuff as a hobby.... say, what do you like to do for fun?"
no subject
Then again the other boy looked as human (and relatively normal) as could be so Ness wouldn't question it. Another hero though! And in the military, too... "Wow, you must have some wild stories to tell from back then!" As if the miscellaneous items Andy had to display weren't proof enough of his adventures, the Star Medal sealed it. Ness peered closely at the medal and wondered exactly
how much it raised his defensewhat feats Andy had accomplished to earn such a position as Commanding Officer. "You've got a lot of guts to have been in the army." He smiled. And then almost did a double-take as Andy continued with his hobbies. That...sounded strikingly familiar. Ness' face lit up with amazement - they could stand to remain on this topic few a few more minutes before going into his own likes and dislikes. "You know, you sound a lot like my friend Jeff! He's really into both building and repairing all sorts of machines and gadgets. Last I heard he was still on the first floor, I can introduce you to him sometime if you want! His roommate has similar interests too, I think you guys would all get along really well." Not that Ness knew Tails on a personal level, but he seemed like a friendly guy.
"As for me, I like to play sports, baseball especially." He nudged the brim of his baseball cap up with a grin. "I'll also hang out with friends, fiddle around with my guitar...pretty average stuff, I guess." Not counting the whole messing around with my psychic powers bit.

"Well, being in the Military is something I've looked for since I was... um... Little! I dont know, It seems like everyone goes into it sooner or later! Its a natural thing for me"
Andy seemed interested, the single fact that more people had engineering and technological skills was something that he found very useful
specially if it means that he will finally surpass Lash in her mechanical warfare knowledge. Andy has always been the powerhouse of technological advance with Orange Star... But here in SBG, it seems like its only gonna be better once he meets these other kids around... Maybe he could come up with something better than just DeathRays."Sports?... I... Um... Dont tell Max this, but I am not very good at sports. I am better at creating things, you know?"
Andy scratched the back of his neck with a little bit of shame, being roomed with a sports fan... wow... Maybe he will have to make new stuff to help him excel at his sports!
...Then Andy had to do a double-take on his own...
"Psy...Psychic... Powers? ... Like... Um..."
Andy shuttled inside his sack and pulled out a Binder. Inside there where some shiny cards behind some very excellent organization. Some of the cards where shiny and glossy, others where more simple, but all of them where some familiar fellow... Pokemon. Andy moved the pages towards a Majestic Purple region where the likes of Posion, Ghost and Psychic Pokemon where represented as fierce some fighters or cute little oddballs.
"Look!" Andy Pulled one of the shiny cards "...This is Mewtwo, he is a Psychic kind! He can move stuff with his Mind... Do... Can... Can you do that as well?"
Andy was more excited than frightened...

He chuckled at Andy's sheepish admittance. "Hey, we've all got things we're good and not so good at! I'm not exactly the greatest Physics student, myself," Ness said, thumbing at his homework sitting on the desk beside them. Hey, perhaps they could find a way to help each other out somewhere down the road!
...oh, haha, had he let that slip? Well, there was no keeping PSI a secret when you were living with someone (and when three other people in your dorm could use it too). Ness looked over at the binder Andy produced and his eyes widened a little. He recognized a few of the pictures on those cards, weren't they...students there? What exactly was going on here he had no idea but apparently it wasn't anything that needed to be kept secret, since Andy had taken out one of the cards and held it up for Ness to see.
And see he did, in a very curious and scrutinizing manner, mostly because he was familiar with Mewtwo (having had a few comment-based conversations with him) but had yet to see him walking around in his Pokemon form. Had it been Ninten staring at that card the reaction would've been very different, but Ness was not Ninten, and the Pokemon's image meant nothing particularly special to him. "Hey yeah, Mewtwo! He's...probably a bit better at telekinesis than me. Moving stuff isn't really my specialty, but..."
It would be a safer demonstration than something like PK Fire or PK Thunder, which weren't even technically his own abilities. Ness turned his head to his desk, and if Andy followed his gaze he would see the Physics text book sitting there slowly lift a good six inches off its surface. The book then bobbed over to Andy and continued hanging in the air as if suspended by an invisible string. "I can only move small things, my actual techniques use psychic energy in a...different way, I guess you could say."
no subject
Yet, Andy was a little curious... From where he came from, Pokemon where just a game and nothing else. So obviously he wondered if this was a juxtaposition of different places in one place... Maybe Cosmo/Macro/OmegaLand where just a little part of his world and this was more... International to say so.
"Um... Mewtwo is here? Is that like... His nickname? I've seen a dude with a Mechanical arm that Max calls Blastoise... But hes Human! Im assuming we all get Pokemon Nicknames? What is yours?"
Andy was now a bit confused... But, hey! Adapting yourself to a new environment is part of the fun and challenge!
"...Whatcha mean that you use your psychic Energy differently? Do you... Control Minds? Or do you make people have nightmares? Maybe you make everyone wear their underwear backwards!"
no subject
Oh, the whole Pokemon thing...this was going to be fun to try to explain, especially since Ness wasn't even entirely clear on the finer points himself. "Well...how do I put it. That is a Mewtwo, and the boy Max knows probably is a Blastoise. They're not just nicknames...those are actual Pokemon walking around. One of the classes students can take here is the Humanization Seminar, which helps non-humans temporarily become human, to make it easier to write, type and stuff like that."
Ness stopped for a moment to see if Andy was following. If Pokemon were only cards where he came from, information like this would probably be a little hard to digest unless you had a really open mind. Then again, Andy had probably seen and heard his fair share of weird things, so... "Heh, I don't know what my nickname would be, though, if we're basing them off Pokemon. I only know a little about the ones who go here."
Mind control, nightmares? Come to think of it, Ness knew one Pokemon in particular who could probably do that. But as for himself? Perish the thought, he would never be that malicious, even if he could! "Oh, no way, nothing like that! That's...nah, but I can make people fall asleep, heal injuries, create reflective barriers and things like that. They're mostly defensive-type abilities, but I've been practicing some offensive attacks too. They're a bit harder for me though." He had a few analogies up his sleeve but wasn't sure if Andy was much of an avid gamer or not.
no subject
"Heh, I... I believe so, Ness. I cannot think of a nickname for you either! Hahaha!"
Andy laughed in a good manner, he liked his buddy.
"Its Ok, I can teach you how to play later! And you gotta introduce me to this... Mewtwo friend! Im Intrigued!"
Andy was more curious about his idea of Attacking with Psychic Energy, seemed kinda fun to say so [And gave Andy a few ideas to throw against Lash's Deathray Bonanza].
"I would like to see what you can do! Im pretty sure that a gifted kid like you could make a BIG Difference in the army! ... Can you like... Shoot stuff? Im Interested!"
Andy remembered the Plate on the door... He was a bit curious about the past roommate, but he believed that it was better like this to be honest.
"Say Ness... What do you call your attacks? I was thinking that our plate on our dorm seems kinda empty even if I add my name... Wouldnt you like to have a CodeName for the room?"

What Andy said next though gave Ness the biggest warm fuzzy he'd had in a while, not to mention a huge swell of pride in his chest. Nobody at SumaBura had ever asked to see him use his powers like that before, let alone comment on the sort of difference he could make. In an army no less! Did it count that for a short amount of time he'd been a one-man army? Gee, Andy was only full of nice things to say... "I guess I can shoot stuff, if by 'stuff' you mean fire, lightning and just pure energy! Let me see here..."
Controlling PK Fire would be the easiest since it was admittedly his least-practiced move and he had the habit of putting too little as opposed to too much energy into it. Ness raised both his hands, closing his eyes in concentration as he called that warm burning sensation back to mind, then thrust his palms downward. A small spark of flame flew to the carpeted floor, lit up into a tiny pillar of fire as it destroyed whatever food or paper scrap was lying there, and then disappeared.
"My friends and I call that PK Fire," he smiled to Andy, "in fact a lot of our moves start with 'PK.' It stands for psycho-kinesis, so I guess it's a pretty appropriate thing to add." Oh, the door plate, right...come to think of it, it really was kind of boring with just their names, wasn't it? "Hey...yeah, a codename would be really cool!" Just like in those spy movies, except it was for their room! "What should we call it?"
