What: A FALL CARNIVAL
When: Friday, October 25th - October 30th.
Where: The fairgrounds
Warnings: General shenanigans.

There's a chill in the air on the morning of the 25th. Students awaken to find that some kind of festival has sprung up on the fairgrounds overnight. How exciting!



The general theme of this mysterious carnival seems to be fall, with a corn maze, pumpkin picking, haunted house, and similar-themed food, rides and games. However...there's something a little weird about it, and not just the fact that it sprung up overnight, out of nowhere. It's fun, sure, but in walking the fairgrounds you can't help but notice a strange energy from the whole place, a chill in the air that isn't from the cold weather. Everything seems normal, but every so often you might feel a presence. A quick glimpse of a shadowy figure out of the corner of your eye, a gentle touch on your shoulder while you're decidedly alone…it's clear there's something weird about the event.

But only time will tell.

Hello Mac, here is somebody who appears just a tad bit lost.

Ike was alone and wandering the carnival. He heard about it and had nothing to do, so why not come? But with all of the whacky things he wasn't used to (RIDING RIDES, GAMING GAMES, WHAT IS ALL OF THIS DEEP-FRIED STUFF?), it was all he could to just to wander and watch for the time being, astounded by all of the Strange in this place. That is, until he came across somebody with a pretty damn good idea. Eating all of the meat.

Ike approached him casually, pointing at the food he was eating. It looked recognizably like meat to him, which was a good sign, and damn was he hungry. "Hey, where did you get that?" he asked. "It looks good."

What Mac was eating was a gigantic turkey leg. Basically meaty paradise. What was better than edible meat was fresh meat, meaning...new people. He never saw this gent before, and even with a messy face he made a smile at the stranger (yeah he had food he was chewing). Much like how he greeted everyone.

Ike, meet this guy. He had some meat and he's a meaty buff guy.

"Turkey legs," Mac said, face still full. "There's a stand a lil' bit away. I can show you it."

Hello buff guy eating meat. Ike nodded, happy to take on his offer. "Yeah, I'd like that," he replied. "Thanks. I'm still not sure how to begin navigating this place on my own. It's a bit... odd."

He started chewing a little slower before swallowing. Ah, there. "Well I ain't got a problem showin' ya."

He looked around.

"I mean, it looks like a normal carnival to me but somethin' 'bout it does seem odd."

Well that was out there. "I mean I ain't put my finger on it but I've been thinkin' 'bout it. Guess I needed someone to say somethin'. It is a lil' weird."

That wasn't exactly what Ike meant by his definition of odd. For him, it was just all of the wacky futuristic technology that had him gawking at everything he passed. When Mac mentioned it, however, he took another look around him.

"So you think there's something strange about this place too?" he said, trying to approach the carnival from a different perspective. Suddenly, it hit him. "I might have overheard somebody say it appeared over the night. I thought they were exaggerating at first. Maybe there's something to that."

"Maybe it was a surprise?"

Yeah, Mac just assumed you talking about that other weird. After all, Mac was into being friendly and answer concerns. But hey, we're talking about it now. It had been bugging him a bit too, thanks for reminding him.

"I kinda heard it a bit from other folks too. Like, just recently. It was buggin' me a lil'."

A battery of possibilities flooded over Ike's mind, but he couldn't say that any of them struck him as the most possible conclusion to the strange pop-up carnival. He shook his head while they walked, looking out over the colorful sea of people, booths, foods, games, and rides.

"A surprise... Maybe," he half-heartedly agreed. "It's hard to say for sure. Maybe we're just over-analyzing things." A lot of crazy ideas came to him while he was here - like the one that he was actually going crazy, which he knew he wasn't. He just had to take a step back sometimes. "This place is weird enough as it is, right?"

You know, when it catches up to Mac that Ike meant something else and he was actually a new guy.



He was gonna look dumb, wasn't he?

Oh wait, he might already.

"Man, I hope so...hope so," he said as he now stomped munching on his meat for a moment.

Oh?

"Y'mean the carnival itself? I think that seems okay. I mean it's got the rides and the games and everythin' seems to work awesome! Why ya sayin' that, sir?"

"The... Oh," Ike started, realizing he might have been a bit vague. "I don't just mean this carnival. The school and stuff. I've been told that it's a strange place on its own. Did I hear that wrong?"

He doubted it.
