Normally, Chiyo transformed into a tomato and stumble over each word, but circumstances made today a different story. She couldn't help but feel sad over the question, and as much as she tried to hide it, it still showed through the lowering of her eyes and the lack of sunshine in her smile.
"Of course you may ask..." She looked at her dress and smoothed it down. It was a pity neither of the two men could appreciate her in it. She had tried so hard picking the right one out.
"Sadly, I..." She paused briefly, unsure of how to exactly to phrase it. "Never got the chance to ask. Either of them. I guess... they disappeared? Back to their homes? I haven't seen or heard from them in a while. It... happens here. People disappearing. I've had it happen to myself, too. But, um, yeah."
She looked to Mona and gave her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I hope I didn't darken the mood. Prom should be a joyous occasion. All I can do now is pray for their safety and well-being."
