Re: Competition Threads

Jock weighed a hefty 225 pounds; this put him firmly in the 4th weight class. He was ready for this. He was so ready. He was going to lift so much more weight than anybody else. He was going to beat them all.

So when he didn't beat them all, he made the most comical faces in the world when he attempted lifts that he just couldn't do. The strain on his face as he attempted that 400 pound deadlift was adorable. While he had an impressive number of muscles. . . he just couldn't get it more than halfway up before, shaking, it slipped from his hands.

To add insult to injury, he watched both Sonny and Vinnie lift more than he did in the deadlift.

And so he moved on to the bench press where he did a very impressive 335, three wheels on each side and a pair of tens, but when it came time to move another weight level up (three wheels and 25s), it stalled. He got his halfway up, shook violently, and had to have the spotter (thanks, Max) help it up.

Vinnie and Sonny both hit higher numbers than he did.

His final chance to shine was the squat. He was going to do it. And, while he eventually discovered that he and the Snorlax were tied for weight percentages, with Jock hitting four wheels and making the bar bend (sweet vengeance) the fact that Jock had watched Vinnie hit the seventh, eighth, ninth, and sweet Arceus, tenth level just broke his little puppy heart. He'd wanted to do so much better than everyone else, but instead all he'd done was be average.

How could his trainer love him if he was only average? A Venusaur beat him. It was like getting knocked out by a block of tofu. Pacifist tofu.

When it was all over, in his much-too-tight t-shirt, he looked glum.
