the distant future the year two thousand
Who: Test subjects (aka ANYONE, YOU PROBABLY)
What: Your new testing partner has arrived
When: January 1st
Where: From the tunnels underneath the school and into the halls
Warnings: Confused robot is a trained killing machine. Not well-trained. Or very deadly. He tries.
The ball dropped, the cheers went up, the drinks were downed, calendars and clocks the world over reset to display the new year. In the dark and dusty catacombs beneath the academy, a blue light flickered to life.
For several minutes, nothing else happened, while it waited for something--a familiar voice providing instructions, or a companion light to turn on nearby, or any sort of movement to indicate what it was meant to do next. Nothing moved. It gurgled, vaguely perplexed, before hesitantly standing. Nothing continued to happen. It bobbed on its knees, chirping as confusion began to set in. It was another several minutes before it tried moving again, and a good couple hours of creeping uncertainly through the dark halls before it inspected a wall with a knob on it.
Doors were not something Aperture-brand devices got a lot of experience with. Without a big glowing hole in the middle, it may as well have been impassable. Still, the robot with the blue eye grasped the funny knob thing, and pulled. Then pushed. Then pulled again. It wasn't real good at turning, but it was making a bit of a racket rattling the door back and forth, so it was probably getting somewhere.
