Vinnie opened his mouth to respond to Mondo's threat, but in doing so he took his eyes off Red. Even though he was closest to the trainer, the Venusaur had just assumed he'd stay put rather than fling himself straight back into the fray.

"Dammit! Red, stop...!" Vinnie lunged forward too, trying to catch him by the arm or shirt or something before he collided into Mondo - but he was too late by a hair.
