As she watched and waited, she had to wonder idly if he had gotten to a point where he stopped trying to go back. She had no way of knowing what it was he faced, except the same realisation that she wouldn't be there for him. Contrary to her own life, where the Connor she knew would fret well enough once he discovered she was missing. As would the others.
And as she heard him, she seemed to think she wasn't too far off the mark. Although he had said his stay would be some form of temporary and that was how she felt as well.
