blah blah reunions
Who: Noel Vermillion and Makoto Nanaya
What: Tearful Reunions or somethin'
When: Backdated to a few days after Makoto's arrival
Where The Convenient Courtyard
Warnings: Should be none.
The past month had not been kind to Noel.
While there was a nice festival at the beginning of the month, not long afterward did tensions in Final Destination City reach a boiling point. The pattern of good to bad events began to wear on Noel. Staying in her room was a tempting option, but she knew she couldn't just do that all the time. So, she found herself retreating to the courtyard to get some fresh air. Maybe some quiet "me-time" was just what she needed.
Several months had passed since her arrival into Smash Academy, before she knew it, the end of the school year was on the horizon.
"Graduation... I never did have a real ceremony when I left the Military Academy..." She said to herself. An early graduate of the Military Academy by six months. For a while, this school reminded her of those simple times. The environment, the atmosphere. She still finds herself looking back on those times, wishing things were simple again. Where she could in the student council room and eat lunch with Tsubaki and Makoto and they would talk for what seemed like forever until it was time to return to their work.
Having Tsubaki come to the school made things almost the same. And more manageable as she wasn't alone with Jin any longer. But she thought about another friend of hers...
"I wonder how Makoto is doing?" She asked. In reality, this wasn't the first time she had asked herself such a question. She hadn't seen her squirrel beastkin friend in a while. Long before she even arrived in Kagutsuchi for the first time. Often times Noel thought about both her friends, but with Tsubaki here, Makoto was the one she wondered about more as of late.
Not only that friend, but also what happened in Kagutsuchi before she arrived...
"No, no, no, snap out of it, Noel. You shouldn't be thinking about that!" She shook her head and gave the side of her head a rough tap. She needed to keep going forward, she couldn't keep longing for the past like this. It had to stop. She repeatedly tapped at the side of her head, trying to knock such thoughts out of her head. As far as she knew, she was alone sitting here, so she didn't care how ridiculous she looked while she continued to mutter to herself.
It would be a familiar sight to said old friends.

After the first interdimensional fiasco, Makoto has some doubts in dealing with this sorta thing, I mean, just a week ago she was in a world where Noel didn't even exist, so what's to say this one will even recognize her? Heck, maybe Makoto didn't even exist in her timeline to start? Or what if things happened differently, and -- No! There's no time for thoughts like that, Makoto. Just one way to find out!
"Shirking your duties again I see. Miss Vermillion... What are we gonna end up doing with you at this rate?" Makoto forces a smile in anticipation for the girl's turn, praying to squirrel GOD that this isn't a case of 'Oh, well you you looked like her from behind...
giggity'"Noelly? Issat really you?"

"Aaah! I-I'm very sorry, ma'am! I was just thinking about something! I swear, I had no intention of ignoring my ord--"
boop
The voice, though... That familiar voice and affectionate nickname... It couldn't be, right? It was too good to be true. To confirm her suspicions, she slowly turned around to meet the eyes of one certain beastkin. Her own large green eyes grew even wider in shock. Noel swore to god she was dreaming. Was this really...
"M-Makoto...?" she asked, almost whispering. Her voice already started to shake, it was clear how close to tears she was just by her tone. Even though Makoto seemed to be right there, right in front of her. She needed to be sure.

"Jeez, Tsubaki's gonna have my head for this one. More than half a semester late for grad school? Better now than never, I guess." She chances keeping that stupid grin of hers, but -- was Noel about to cry? Oh God, what had she done? If that dork starts crying now, what's she gonna be able to do but start bawling herself?
"H-hey, it's me! No need to turn on the waterworks! Who do I need'ta deck?" Of course it wasn't a matter as simple as that. She knows why Noel is reacting the way she was... There's no way to tell how long she'd been stuck here, nor who else, if anyone, was along with her. That and well, even if it's only been a few days, perhaps closer to a week since she's seen her own Noel, who knows how long it'd been since the one in front of her had seen another Makoto? All this interdimensional time travel bull was hella inconvenient. Not to mention unfair.
Makoto takes another step forward, putting those other unnecessary thoughts on the backburner. All that really mattered now is that she found her Noel. "I'm sorry I'm so late, Noelly. Please don't cry. You're gonna make me cry if you cry... S-secret agents aren't supposed t-to cry, dammit." C'mere and give her a hug, you silly.
