"We shouldn't have to resort to that." Although the idea of animal testing is particularly dubious in a place where the animals can complain about it--or worse yet, ask for more--so he won't go into that.

"If I can analyze the protein that causes the hallucinations, come up with a spectroscopic signature or even a unique chemical reaction to look for, then it would be no problem whatsoever to check these things. Problem is, far as I know no one's even isolated the compound."
