Marie felt maybe just a touch less awful when Voile rest her head against his and spoke sweetly to him. Even so, the negativity still hung over him heavily. She could say sorry for putting him through whatever this was all she wanted, but simply being there was only a small part of why he felt so... what was that feeling?

Jealous.

It took a lot of effort to not reply with something incredibly snotty. If it had been a teammate, he might have mumbled it anyway. But he wasn't quite as fearless with how he came off to Voile as he was with his teammates. So he bit his tongue and searched for something nicer to say.

"It's fine," would have to do. Anything else, and he was sure he'd end up saying something he'd regret.
