For a moment, as he held her hand and clouds zoomed past them, it almost felt like falling didn't even matter anymore. She had a guardian angel in her moment of need, after all, and even dared to let herself smile in return.

It was hard to scare someone like Samus. Falling after watching her Power Suit dissolve off her body and not come back no matter how hard she tried to re-summon it was downright unnerving. Out of the suit she could take a nasty fall, yeah, but from this high up would undoubtedly kill her. She knew the limits of her own body and the swiftly approaching rocky, barren terrain below definitely exceeded them.

...But that wasn't what scared her. It was the dim realization her hand was growing hot. Was she holding too tightly? Was he just that warm? It was burning, scalding hot, to the point to seeing wisps of smoke escape from where their intertwined fingers met. She couldn't be sure but she thought she saw the tips of his feathers also smolder much the same.

Samus had a high tolerance for this too, but her fleeting smile was definitely far gone as she looked to Pit, expression twisted with helplessness and pain.
