X's Dream: Trapped as a Cat in The Library of Psyche

X was used to dreaming, despite the fact that he was mechanical in nature. It was one of those other things that made Reploids unique, a mechanical facsimile to the humans who they lived alongside.

And of course, X had to have the same damn recurring dream.

...the library stretched on for ages. Shelves, shelves, and even more shelves, some shaped like spirals and others seeming to be upside-down, with no real purpose at all. How were the books on those particular shelves staying in place? And how did anyone expect to grab some of those, pull them down, and read them in the oddly normal tables below?

Not that the books had varied content. Their covers were normal enough, but their titles ranged anywhere from: "First taste of food" to "84305_X.dat"

...Yes. This library was a manifestation of X's own internal files. If one opened the books, you might find nothing more than machine language fluttering along the pages. Other books might be blank, or fly out of your hands as you open them. Others are written like...well, fiction. Or Philosophy. Or even photo books. These are X's ideas, thoughts, and memories.

As one wanders this strange library, one might notice an odd whirring sound in the back of their mind. It wasn't loud enough to be annoying, but consistent enough to be noticed, much like the soft hum of a laptop or computer loading a large amount of data.

And one also might notice a chubby white cat with...what looked to be a blue, catlike version of his own helmet, leaping from table to table and making an attempt to pull some book or other off the shelf.

With X's hands being nothing more than paws, this proved difficult, but that didn't stop him from trying, letting out mixtures of human speech and meows of effort as he went about his task.
