Re: Room #1: Nintantics abound: I'm not crazy, really!

Well that was a bust, but it wasn't as if Ness hadn't half-expected his words to have been in vain anyway.

...Wait. Sure there had been a maelstrom of crazy emotions that night but now there was something seriously off about Ninten's voice, not to mention the expression matching it. He looked...mad. Crazy-mad, and coupled with what he was saying did not help Ness feel any better about their sutation; it actually send a shiver up his spine. Mostly because of how those words resinated with what he actually felt.

It was something Ness had avoided contemplating despite the fact that he knew he might be faced with the event at some point down the line: confronting Porky, and actually having to neutralize him. Anyone else who knew of Porky's past deeds would say, probably without hesitation, that he should not be allowed to continue being the threat that he was. Should Porky succeed in reviving Giygas, and if they were lucky enough to be presented with an opportunity to strike Porky down, would he be able to? Ness looked down from Ninten's twisted face to the floor. To his own hands. The Porky he had known since they were young was still in there, somewhere, or so he believed. Could he actually, for even a moment, put that thought aside and...kill him?

Ness himself clenched those hands into fists. He didn't have to answer that question now, but he already knew what the conclusion would be. Ness was not the sort of person who gave up easily, and he wasn't about to start with giving up on the sort of person he was.

Placing a hand on his knee the messy-haired boy pushed himself up to his feet, several seconds after Ninten landed on the bed with a bounce. He appreciated Poo's presence so, so much right then, but the thanks would have to come later. For now, Ness had to set something straight with the upperclassman.

"No 'ifs,' Ninten." His voice was firm, as was the lock he had on Ninten's gaze. "'If it wasn't for that machine,' 'if it wasn't for you,' 'if it wasn't for Giegue.' That's all in the past. There's nothing we can do about what's already happened. 'If Porky succeeds'...that's only the future, a future we can prevent by acting in the present."

Ness turned to fully face Ninten, confidence written all over his features. Forget being too scared to kill people if it wasn't even on the to-do list. "Action doesn't mean a thing if your heart's not in the right place. And even if your heart is, right now your mind isn't. So stop." He lifted his head slightly, drawing in a breath as he did so. "Stop talking like the only hope left in the entire world died when you let Giegue escape. We're still here, Ninten. We wouldn't still be here if we weren't supposed to be!" Ness slammed his hands down onto the bed as he shouted this, no longer trying to minimize his voice for the sake of their sleeping next-door neighbors - no, he was too fired up now, Ninten had rubbed him the wrong way. "Why don't you just try believing in us?!"
