Hal Emmerich felt like the entire world had just dropped on him. His head was ringing, he was confused where he was, and there was someone sleeping on his stomach. For a brief moment, he was fourteen again and that was his ten-year old sister coming to his room again - she’d had another nightmare and needed his company.
“E.E.?” he whispered, hopefully, as he gently passed his left hand in the sleeping teenager’s hair. Too coarse and thick. That is not Emma…oh yes. Now I remember. He slowly sat up and gingerly placed the sleeping teenager on his bed without waking him up. Otacon sighed as his headache intensified and he slowly came back to his senses. He was back in his hotel room…somehow. He rubbed his left leg in pain from “Jeff’s” punch and felt a small bump on the back of his head, probably from the slip he took Urgh, I’m the one supposed to be helping him, and I end up being completely knocked out. What happened back there?
Hopefully Samus and Jeff were alright. Otacon could only imagine what it would feel like to be stuck in a body of the opposite sex. At least his own experience with professor Oak hadn’t been this bad.
He could ask the others later. Right now, he’d try at least to get some answers on his friend’s condition, since, unlike the soul-swap, he had no idea how long it would last…or if it was permanent. From what brief conversation he’d managed before, well, whatever had hit him, Jeff had told them Falcon was also in a similar situation.
He had no idea how he’d do this, but Otacon would find a solution. He’d workday and night if he had to.
But right now, what he needed the most was ibuprofen. The largest legal-sized dose he could take.
It was only when he got into the bathroom that he realized how moist his shirt was.
“...I had no idea he salivated this much when he sleeps.”
